Abstract

Abstract This study aims to analyze students' mathematical beliefs in resolving word problems on the one-variable linear equation material based on the level of students' mathematical abilities. This research used qualitative methods with case study research. The data were obtained from the results of the word problems test, questionnaire, and interview. The subjects in this study were 6 students, consist of 2 students with high mathematical abilities, 2 students with medium mathematics abilities, and 2 students with low mathematics abilities. Selection of subjects based on report cards for the even semester in the academic year 2019/2020. The results showed that 1) 1 highly capable subject was able to comply five of the six mathematical belief scales, namely difficult problems, understanding, the importance of word problems, effort, and usefulness of mathematics, while 1 other subject was able to comply four of the six mathematical belief scales, namely difficult problems, understanding, effort, and usefulness of mathematics 2) 1 medium capable subject is able to comply four of the six mathematical belief scales, namely difficult problems, understanding, the importance of word problems, effort, and usefulness of mathematics, while 1 other subject is able to comply five of the six mathematical belief scales, namely difficult problems, understanding, importance word problem, effort, and usefulness of mathematics. 3) 1 lowly capable subject is able to comply three of the six mathematical belief scales, namely difficult problems, the importance of word problems, and effort, while 1 other subject is only able to comply two of the six mathematical belief scales, namely the effort and usefulness of mathematics. Abstract

AbstractThe study was conducted to investigate the relationship between the use of vlog media in learning and the concept understanding ability. The results of daily test of students who can achieve or exceed the Minimum Completeness Criteria are only 31.4% illustrating the lack of the understanding of students concepts. Using vlogs can be a choice of interactive and interesting learning media to help increase concept understanding of students. This type of research is explanatory research with selected research subjects are students of the 2019/2020 school year class VIII F according to the teacher's considerations. The research instrument was an essay test of concept understanding ability and a questionnaire of the use of vlog media in learning. The research analysis includes a description of the achievement of concept understanding, the feasibility of vlog learning media, and the Spearman Rank (ρ) test. The analysis results shows that the use of vlog media in learning has a relationship to the concepts understanding ability with a known correlation value of 0.410 which indicates the use of good vlogs as a learning medium sufficiently supportive to increase the ability to understand concepts.Keywords: Concept Understanding Ability, Learning Media, Vlog

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to know the effect of the application of the Wankat-Oreovocz strategy to the ability of problem solving and activity of students in the form of algebra at the Christian Junior High School of Immanuel 2 Sungai Raya. This experimental method is experimental with a one-shot study and to collect data in this study used the problem solving test, along with the observation sheet of learning implementation and students learning activity. The participants in this study was 43 students of the VII B. The result showed that: 1) The Wankat-Oreovocz learning strategy didn't positively effect the students problem solving skill with the value of sig. 0.147; 2) The average of the application of the Wankat-Oreovocz strategy is well categorized with score of 3.20; 3) Students learning activity during the implementation of this strategy was in the category of very active with the percentage of 88.87%.Keywords: Wankat-Oreovocz Strategy, Problem SolvingPENDAHULUANMatematika merupakan suatu mata pelajaran yang

Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan disposisi matematis siswa yang ditinjau dari kemampuan problem solving. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan bentuk penelitian studi kasus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah enam orang siswa kelas VIII J Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTs N) 2 Pontianak yang terdiri dari dua orang siswa memiliki kemampuan problem solving tingkat tinggi, dua orang siswa memiliki kemampuan problem solving tingkat sedang, dan dua orang siswa memiliki kemampuan problem solving tingkat rendah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan kemampuan problem solving tinggi memiliki tingkat disposisi matematis sangat tinggi, siswa dengan kemampuan problem solving sedang memiliki tingkat disposisi matematis tinggi, sementara itu untuk dua orang siswa yang memiliki kemampuan problem solving rendah, satu di antaranya memiliki tingkat disposisi matematis tinggi, dan satu lainnya memiliki tingkat disposisi matematis sedang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan tidak terdapat hubungan antara disposisi matematis dengan kemampuan problem solving pada subjek yang diambil.   Kata kunci: Disposisi Matematis, Kemampuan Problem Solving   Abstract: The purpose of this research is to describe students’ mathematics disposition that reviewed by problem solving ability. The method that used is descriptive method with case study. The subject of this research are six students of grade VIII J in Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri (MTs N) 2 Pontianak that consist of two students who have the highest ability of problem solving, two students who have medium ability of problem solving, and the last two students who have lowest ability of problem solving. The result of this research show that the students with high ability of problem solving have the highest mathematics disposition, the students with medium problem solving have high mathematics dispositions,  whereas for two last students with low problem solving, one of them have high mathematics disposition and other have medium mathematics disposition. Based on this research we can conclude that there is no association between mathematics disposition and problem solving ability on the subject in this research.   Keywords: Mathematic Disposition, Problem Solving Ability

Abstract

AbstractAmong the goals of national education is to develop the potential of students to become human beings who believe and fear God Almighty and have noble character. Talking about believing and being obedient to God Almighty and having a noble character, it is very relevant to relate this to religion. This is because every religion requires its adherents to become human beings who are righteous and have noble character in their own ways. Therefore, religious education should be combined with learning activities, especially mathematics learning. There is a close relationship between the religious sciences of mathematics. This study aims to describe the mathematical concepts contained in the fiqh thaharah from Imam Shafi'i school. This research is included in qualitative research. The form of this research is literature study research. The data source in this study is the book Safinatun Najah written by Syekh Salim bin Samir Al-Hadhrami. The data analysis in this study used Miles and Huberman's model and combined it with a scientific approach. The results of this study were found several mathematical concepts contained in the fiqh thaharah from Imam Shafi'i school, namely set, logic, inequality, conversion, geometrid and natural numbers.Keywords: exploration, mathematic concept, Imam Shafi'i school

Abstract

Abstract This research aimed to develop digital flipbook as an instructional medium in the Material of Circle at 8th grade of junior high school students. This was a qualitative research with Research and Development method. Subject in this research was mathematics teacher who teaching on Material of Circle at 8th grade of junior high school students, while the object was digital flipbook validity as an instructional medium in the Material of Circle at 8th grade of junior high school students. The application was used to develop digital flipbook is Kvisoft Flipbook Maker. The instruments were validation questionnaire and student response questionnaire. Digital flipbook validated by five validators, there are two lectures from Mathematics Education Department and three Junior High School teachers. The validity result revealed that the digital flipbook was valid to be an instructional medium in the Material of Circle at 8th grade of junior high school. The analysis data from digital flipbook validation got RTVTK = 3,67 categorized as ‘valid’. It got positive response from student, the average is 87.09% categorized as ‘very strong’. Abstract

Abstract The aim of this research is to develop mathematics teaching materials on arithmetic. The development of this research used a model named ADDIE which is limited on three steps, Analysis, Design, and Development. The quality of teaching materials was rated in terms of three criteria which are validity that using two validity questionnaires, effectiveness that using a post test and practicality that using two practicality questionnaires. The validity of teaching materials was carried out by a content and media expert. The effectiveness of teaching materials was carried out by 34 students by taking the post test in limited tryout and the practicality of teaching materials was carried out by a teacher and 34 students. This research showed that the average of validity questionnaire scores was 4.25 (very valid). Students who achieved Minimum Completeness Criteria on post test were 2.9% (very not effective). The average of practicality questionnaire scores were 4.22 (very practical) for teachers and 2.73 (pretty practical) for students. The conclusion of this research that integrated Quranic mathematics teaching materials on arithmetic are very valid, very not effective, very practical for a teacher and pretty practical for students. AbstractLaw of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2003 concerning the National EducationSystem article 40 paragraph 2a states that: "Educators and education personnel areobliged to create an educational atmosphere that is meaningful, fun, creative, dynamic,and dialogical." Therefore, learning is expected to require the use of more varied deliverymedia so that the teaching and learning process creates a fun and dynamic educationalatmosphere and can be understood better. This makes teachers need to use appropriatelearning media. The media that is meant is comics media in learning mathematics withtwo-variable linear equation systems for class VIII students of SMPN 3 Sungai Ambawang.The conclusions obtained from this study are: (1) Based on the aspect of validity by onevalidator consisting of media and material experts, the assessment of material experts is3.69 and media experts is 3.84. So it can be stated that the teaching materials developedare categorized as "valid". (2) Based on the practical aspect, the average teacher responseis 3.95 and the average student response is 3.21. So that the average score of teachingmaterials is 3.58 in the "good" category. (3) Based on the aspect of effectiveness, theaverage post-test was 70.4 and the percentage of students who met the KKM was 73.91%of 23 students in the "good" category.Keywords: Comic, Development Research

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to determine the implementation of the equation of the Qur'an integrated straight line. The method used in this study is an experimental method and this type of research is a pre-experimental design with a one-shot case study design. The population in this study was all grade VIII students of SMP, samples in this study selected one of the sample classes as an experimental class. Data collection techniques used are measurement techniques in the form of written tests, observation techniques and indirect communication techniques. Data collection tools used in this study are posttest, observation sheet of student learning results, and student questionnaire. Research data is analyzed descriptively. The results of this study showed that the ability of teachers in managing learning using The Qur'an's Integrated Straight Line Equation Teaching Materials are in a good category, the completedness of students' learning results using teaching materials integrating the Qur'an has not achieved a minimum of completedness. A total of 11 students out of 18 students in one class or 61% and classical completeness have not been met. So it can be concluded that learning using The Qur'an Integrated Teaching Materials is less effective to be applied in SMP.Keywords: Integrated Al-Qur'an, Implementation of Teaching Materials, Straight Line Equations.

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to find out and describe the learning obstacles experienced by students in solving math problems in SMA Negeri 7 Pontianak. The intended learning obstacles are epistemological obstacles. Learning obstacles experienced by students are seen when students solve problems. Mistakes made by students in completing problems are grouped into the Watson Error Criteria. After that will be known factors that cause students to experience learning obstacles. The research method used in this research is descriptive method in the form of case study research. Data collection techniques used are direct observation techniques with data collection tools using diagnostic tests in the form of tru-false questions and conducting interviews with students who make mistakes. The subjects in this study were the 10th grade students of Natural Sciences 4 of SMA 7 Pontianak many as 29 students. The results of this study indicate that (1) Types of errors made by students based on the Watson Error Criteria include inappropriate data, inappropriate procedure, omitted conclusion. (2) Students who make mistakes experience epistemological obstacle specifically conceptual obstacle. The conceptual obstacle in question is that students are not able to explain the concept of rank in particular (3) Factors that cause students to experience obstacles in solving problems are social factors.
