Abstract

Islamic Religious Education learning plays an important role in shaping students' religious understanding, attitudes, and behavior. However, the PAI learning process in schools still tends to be teacher-centered, so students' understanding of the material has not developed optimally. This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' understanding and to determine students' responses to the application of the Course Review Horay (CRH) learning model with Bingo media in IRE learning. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects consisted of 41 ninth-grade students at one of the public junior high schools in Bandung Regency. Data collection techniques were carried out through understanding tests and student response questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and N-Gain analysis. The results showed an increase in students' understanding after the application of the CRH learning model with Bingo media. The average pretest score of 76.83 increased to 87.80 in the posttest, and all students achieved learning mastery. The Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores (Asymp. Sig. 0.000 < 0.05), while the N-Gain results were in the moderate category. In addition to improving understanding, this study also provided a positive response to the implementation of this learning model, although several obstacles were still encountered in the initial stages of implementation and student learning independence. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Course Review Horay learning model using Bingo media is effective in improving student understanding and is suitable for use in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning with improvements in the management of learning implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to deeply explore how Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers interpret and apply positive affirmations as an integral part of student character development. This study used a qualitative phenomenological approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. A thematic analysis of the experiences of nine PAI teachers revealed that positive affirmations are not merely motivational techniques, but rather a form of love, trust, and respect for children's potential, expressed through consistent and sincere words. The findings identified transformations in students' attitudes, strengthening of spiritual identity, and behavioral changes rooted in reflective, contextual affirmation practices supported by the teachers' social and emotional environment. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of integrating positive affirmations into a humanistic, spiritual, and sustainable educational strategy. Its contribution to national and global educational development is reflected in its support for SDGs Goal 4 (Quality Education) and SDG Goal 3 (Mental and Emotional Well-being), by transforming the classroom into an ecosystem for the holistic growth of children's character and spirituality. This research enriches the perspective of Islamic pedagogy and underscores the urgency of a humanizing affirmative approach.

Abstract

This study aims to explore Qur’anic tadabur practices in Islamic Religious Education (IRE), particularly within the Qur’an–Hadith component at the junior high school level. IRE learning continues to be dominated by technical and procedural approaches that emphasize reading and memorization, which have not yet fully encouraged students’ reflective engagement with and internalization of the Qur’an’s messages. This study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design through in-depth interviews with 10 IRE teachers and 10 students, supported by limited contextual observations and the analysis of instructional documents and learning materials from State Junior High School 1 Bandung, State Junior High School 5 Bandung, and State Junior High School 7 Bandung, Indonesia. The data were analyzed using the interactive data analysis model proposed by Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and reflective and continuous conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that Qur’anic literacy in IRE learning is predominantly practiced in a textual and procedural manner and has not yet been integrated with tadabur as a reflective learning experience. Consequently, the internalization of religious values tends to occur instructionally and has not fully developed into students’ personal religious awareness. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening contextual and reflective Qur’an–Hadith learning to position tadabur as a meaningful pedagogical experience that supports the sustainable formation of students’ religious character.

Abstract

Abstract

Research that explicitly explores the relationship between the humanistic approach in Islamic Religious Education and the formation of students' religious maturity remains very limited. This gap highlights the need for further investigation, both theoretically, to understand how humanistic principles relate to adolescent religious development, and practically, to design effective instructional strategies in increasingly pluralistic school environments. Moreover, the application of the humanistic approach in the management of Islamic Religious Education learning, especially at the senior high school level, has not been extensively studied. This study aims to provide an exploratory overview of the management of Islamic Religious Education learning through a humanistic approach in senior high schools. A qualitative method was employed, involving interviews with four teachers across four different schools. The data were analyzed using NVivo version 15. The findings indicate that teachers have applied humanistic-based learning management to foster students' religious maturity, starting from the planning stage to implementation and evaluation. However, several challenges remain, including students' low awareness of worship practices, uneven levels of religious consciousness, and limited supporting facilities. This research recommends strengthening teacher training and institutional support to ensure the optimal implementation of the humanistic approach in PAI learning.

Abstract

AbstractThis study investigates the readiness of Indonesian Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers at the lower secondary level to integrate AI-based gamification into Qur’anic learning for Generation Alpha students. As part of the Transformative Tilawah research program, the study also provides initial validity evidence for the TRAIGE instrument, which measures five dimensions of readiness: technical, pedagogical, content, perceived usefulness, and institutional readiness. Using a convergent mixed-methods design, data were collected through a survey of 30 teachers and semi-structured interviews with 5 participants selected through purposive network sampling. Quantitative data were analyzed descriptively, while qualitative data were examined using reflexive thematic analysis. The findings show that overall teacher readiness is high (M = 81.50; 81.5%). Technical readiness is the strongest dimension (87.2%), whereas pedagogical readiness is the weakest (78.9%). Perceived usefulness is very high (82.0%), indicating positive views of AI-gamification for motivation and learning outcomes. However, a support-capacity gap persists: leadership is supportive, but training and technical assistance remain limited. Implementation therefore requires ethical design, pedagogical strengthening, and stronger institutional support.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in elementary schools faces a specific problem: learning is predominantly cognitive and classroom-based, resulting in weak habituation and limited translation of religious knowledge into daily behavior. Existing studies broadly examine PAI within formal schooling or analyze Qur'an-based non-formal institutions (TPA) independently, leaving a gap in understanding how TPA functions as a complementary institution that holistically strengthens PAI learning. This study aims to analyze the complementary contribution of TPA to elementary PAI learning outcomes across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains. A descriptive qualitative methodology was employed using an analytical framework grounded in the three core domains of PAI. Data were collected through triangulation of documents, semi-structured interviews, and observations involving 17 participants, including TPA administrators, teachers, elementary PAI teachers, and students active in both institutions. The findings reveal three analytical patterns: (1) cognitively, TPA reinforces conceptual understanding through memorization repetition, tajwid mastery, and enrichment of Qur'an, aqidah, fiqh, akhlak, and Islamic history; (2) psychomotorically, TPA strengthens religious skills through systematic worship practices and experiential activities; and (3) affectively, TPA cultivates religious attitudes and character through structured habituation and teacher modeling. This study contributes to PAI scholarship by conceptualizing TPA as a strategic complementary institution that bridges the gap between religious knowledge and lived religious practice.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how Gen-Z Muslim students interpret, respond to, and assess digital da'wah they consume on social media and how it affects their morals in everyday life. This study uses a quantitative approach with a non-experimental design through a correlational survey method with Digital Da'wah on Social Media as the Independent variable and the Morals of Gen-Z Muslim Students as the dependent variable. The results show that the majority of respondents agree and strongly agree with all items in the digital da'wah variable, which illustrates that digital da'wah is considered relevant, interesting, easily accessible, and has a strong da'wah essence. In the morals variable, respondents also predominantly show the agree and strongly agree categories, which indicates that the morals of Gen Z Muslim students are in the good category. The results of the correlation test obtained a coefficient value of 0.652 which is included in the strong and positive relationship category, so it can be concluded that digital da'wah on social media has a strong relationship and a positive influence on the morals of Gen Z Muslim students
