Abstract

Indonesia is an agrarian country with a tropical climate and has abundant resource potential in the form of various agricultural commodities. Sembalun lawang is one of the villages located in Sembalun District with a population in 2021 of 4,985 people, where most of the population has a livelihood as farmers. One of the attractions of Sembalun Lawang Village for tourists lies in the agricultural sector, so agrotourism in this area must be improved. The implementation methods used are observation, experimental, and socialization. Observations made in Sembalun Lawang Village showed that the majority of farmers still did not apply organic farming in farming and depended on the use of chemicals, so thematic KKN students conducted experiments to test the growth of pakcoy plants that had been given liquid organic fertilizer treatment. Socialization is carried out to the community to educate about the dangers of using synthetic chemicals and introduce organic farming that is more environmentally friendly

Abstract

Interventions in the use of technology to farmers as an alternative in Pest Management in potato cultivation are highly expected by farmers in the Sembalun area. Therefore, it is worth trying its utilization on potato crops to control important pests that attack. The method used in this activity is the Action Research Method by applying the Participatory Action Program approach from participants through discussions, and group work on all activities. The results of the group discussion showed that the group members had largely not recognized the types and functions of natural enemies in Potato Pest Management. After joint observations accompanied by the team, participants actually knew the types of natural enemies, both predators, and parasitoids, but they did not know the role of natural enemies in the agroecosystem. After finishing the meeting, the group realized the importance of maintaining the presence of natural enemies of pests in the potato agroecosystem so that the use of pesticides, which had been the main control technique for pests, could be reduced. Thus, it is hoped that the potato farming business in Sembalun will increase profits and produce environmentally friendly products

Abstract

The development of potato crops in West Nusa Tenggara Province has been carried out in the Sembalun plateau. However, the Sembalun region faces limited infrastructure support capacity, so one of the strategies to increase potato production is to expand potato development to areas outside the Sembalun region, namely to potential medium plain areas.  North Lombok regency has a potential medium plain for the development of potato crops, namely in the santong area of Kayangan subdistrict and Senaru area of Bayan Subdistrict. The National Strategic Excellence Research Team of Mataram University has conducted research for the development of quality potato seeds in the Santong region, followed by the assistance of its development. The results of this sideways show from the aspect of potato cultivation can grow and produce well, but the obstacle faced is the high intensity of attacks of plant destruction organisms. The expansion into this medium plain demands technological innovation of potato production in the medium plain. Therefore, it is considered necessary to conduct sustainable assistance of potato development in North Lombok Regency

Abstract

The millennial generation, a growing segment of Indonesia's youth, is expected to play a crucial role in the nation's future development. To address this, an educational outreach on the importance of balanced nutrition was conducted for the millennial farmer group in Kabul Village. The goal was to equip the youth with knowledge about balanced nutrition, influencing their eating habits and dietary patterns in the target village. The outreach employed educational methods, including material presentations by the team, interactive discussions, and summarizing the discussion outcomes. Monitoring results during the outreach indicated high participant interest, evidenced by numerous questions, particularly regarding parental roles in ensuring balanced nutrition for adolescent family members. Young participants highlighted the challenge of avoiding unhealthy snacks due to the proliferation of culinary trends and social media influences, often leading them to try foods without considering their nutritional value. The balanced nutrition education initiative aims to benefit both millennials and the older generation. Consequently, it is hoped that parents will emphasize balanced nutrition messages to their children within their families.
