Abstract

Rapid growth of studies on Chat-GPT acceptance within the broader context of AI in education (AIEd) has provided valuable insights into how participants across settings perceive and use this tool for teaching and learning. This study replicates earlier investigations on AI acceptance but narrows the focus to a specific task: editing and proofreading. It also expands the inquiry to address ethical concerns and overreliance-two recurring themes in AIEd research. A modified extended TAM questionnaire covering seven aspects was distributed to 71 first-year EFL university students enrolled in a writing course that permitted Chat-GPT only for editing and proofreading, with clear restrictions. Group interviews were also conducted. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics; qualitative data were examined thematically. Findings reveal a consistent three-step use of Chat-GPT: prompting, pasting the manuscript, and reviewing. Students treated AI output as a draft for enhancement, not as final work. Variation emerged in how much students revised AI-suggested edits, suggesting differing levels of reliance. The study confirms that perceived usefulness and ease of use contribute to students’ attitudes and intentions, moderated by self-image and subjective norms. While long-term dependency remains unclear, students appeared cautious when boundaries were set. This study suggests that when lecturers provide clear guidelines, students tend to view Chat-GPT as a learning aid and show awareness of academic integrity and authorship. The findings underline the need for well-defined institutional policies on AI use in writing instruction, while acknowledging the study’s contextual limitations and the need for further research.

Abstract

This case study explores the perceptions of translanguaging in the academic writing process of pre-service teachers. Drawing upon the theories of forms translanguaging (Baynham & Lee, 2019; Garcia & Lin, 2016; Hua & Wei, 2022) and the stages of writing proposed by Hyland (2003), this research delves into how pre-service teachers perceive and utilize translanguaging in their writing. The study integrates observations, interviews, and artifact analysis involving pre-service teachers to understand their engagement with translanguaging as both a communicative and pedagogical strategy. The findings show that pre-service teachers not only view translanguaging as a method for effective communication but also as a crucial tool for enhancing their engagement with academic content, particularly in the stages of topic selection, pre-writing, writing, and feedback. In addition, the significant use of translation, code-mixing, and code-switching underscores their linguistic adaptability in a multilingual academic context. This research contributes to the academic discourse by providing insights into the role of translanguaging in the academic writing process and its implications for future teaching practices.

Abstract

The increasing diversity of students’ learning characteristics brought a growing challenge for teachers to provide accessible and inclusive learning. This research explored the differentiated content portrayed in pre-service EFL teachers’ teaching modules, including their decisions in designing and selecting content for differentiation. A qualitative case study was conducted, involving five pre-service English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers who participated in a teacher education program. This research gleaned the data through document analysis and interviews, which then exhibited that the content differentiation was presented through the use of diagnostic assessment as pre-assessment for content adaptation, different teaching materials, and a variety of teaching modes tailored to students’ learning profiles. Moreover, pre-service EFL teachers reported that they considered students’ abilities, readiness, learning profiles, curriculum demands, sociocultural background, and available resources when designing and choosing content for differentiation. These findings emphasized the pre-service EFL teachers’ awareness of diverse learners and their efforts to plan their instruction accordingly. This research offers insight into how future teachers prepare for differentiated instruction in an EFL setting.

Abstract

This study describes and compares in-service and pre-service teachers’ perception and utilization of technology in the form of computer-assisted language learning (CALL) and mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Vocational High School Classroom. This research was conducted at one of the vocational high schools in Surakarta and accommodated a multiple case study. The data of the research was obtained through document analyses, interviews, and observations. This study accommodated interactive model data analysis. The findings of this study revealed that teachers show positive and negative views on technology usage in the classroom. The positive themes found in the study are familiarity, ease of use, ease of access, interest in use, and provision of various options and qualified sources while the negative themes were mostly technical problems. This study also revealed that both groups of teachers utilized technology for three main themes: (1) presenting, (2) assisting, and (3) assessing. The differences in terms of perception and utilization of technology usage between both groups teachers were revealed to be small. To conclude, while both groups hold positive views, the actual utilization of technology is still limited so that teachers should explore more on technology usage for future implementation. Abstract

Household organic waste has emerged as a major environmental issue in Dibal Village, Ngemplak District, Boyolali Regency, since most vegetable, fruit, and leaf residues are simply discarded, causing unpleasant odors and environmental pollution. This challenge is even more pronounced given that among the 74 active members of the “Sekarwangi” PKK women’s group, 27 work as vegetable farmers and market vendors, making them the primary contributors of organic waste in the form of unsold vegetables and fruits. Paradoxically, such waste holds significant potential to be transformed into liquid organic fertilizer (POC), which is both beneficial for home gardening and economically valuable. This community engagement program was designed to provide practical solutions through technical training, the distribution of anaerobic composters, and continuous mentoring for all PKK members. The implementation consisted of five stages: socialization, hands-on training in POC production using bio-activators, distribution of 74 composting units, weekly fermentation monitoring, and evaluation through product trials and satisfaction surveys. The program demonstrated a remarkable behavioral transformation: from merely discarding waste to actively converting it into valuable products. By the reporting period, three harvest cycles had been completed, yielding a total of approximately 124 liters of POC (equivalent to 8 Le Minerale gallons)—far exceeding the initial target of 50 packages. When converted into commercial packaging, the production amounts to 496 bottles of 250 ml (priced at IDR 10,000, potential revenue IDR 4,960,000) or 248 bottles of 500 ml (priced at IDR 20,000, with the same value). Part of the POC has been utilized for household gardening, while the remainder is ready for commercialization as a community product. This program has proven effective in reducing organic waste, fostering awareness of the green economy, and strengthening the community’s economic independence. Recommendations for future action include product and packaging standardization, enhancement of digital marketing strategies, and market expansion through local bazaars or agricultural partnerships to ensure that the economic potential can be sustainably realized, thereby contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, Indonesia telah mengalami transformasi digital yang sangat pesat. Salah satu faktor utama yang mendorong perubahan ini adalah perkembangan teknologi smartphone, yang kini menjadi bagian tak terpisahkan dari kehidupan masyarakat modern. Penggunaan smartphone tidak hanya mempermudah komunikasi antarindividu, tetapi juga mempercepat akses terhadap informasi, memperluas peluang bisnis daring (online), serta mengubah cara seseorang berinteraksi dengan teknologi dan lingkungannya. Berdasarkan data terkini, sekitar tiga perempat dari total populasi Indonesia merupakan pengguna aktif smartphone, menunjukkan betapa pentingnya peran perangkat ini dalam mendukung aktivitas sosial, ekonomi, dan pendidikan masyarakat. Perkembangan ini juga didukung oleh sejumlah faktor lain seperti peningkatan aksesibilitas internet, harga perangkat yang semakin terjangkau, serta pembangunan infrastruktur digital yang merata hingga ke daerah-daerah terpencil. Fenomena turunnya harga smartphone menjadi daya tarik tersendiri bagi konsumen dalam melakukan pembelian, karena harga sering kali menjadi salah satu pertimbangan utama dalam proses pengambilan keputusan. Namun demikian, tidak semua konsumen menjadikan harga sebagai faktor penentu. Bagi sebagian masyarakat, persepsi terhadap harga lebih berkaitan dengan nilai, kualitas, dan manfaat yang mereka peroleh dari produk yang dibeli. Persepsi harga ini memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk sikap dan perilaku konsumen terhadap suatu merek atau produk tertentu. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini berupaya untuk memahami lebih dalam hubungan antara persepsi harga dan keputusan pembelian smartphone di kalangan konsumen Indonesia, dengan memperhatikan faktor-faktor sosial, ekonomi, serta perkembangan teknologi digital yang melatarbelakanginya.

Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan salah satu bidang yang sangat penting dan berpengaruh terhadap bidang lainnya. Salah satu fungsi pendidikan yaitu untuk untuk mengembangkan kemampuan dan membentuk martabat dalam rangka mencerdaskan kehidupan bangsa. Taman Pendidikan Al-Qur’an (TPA) Nurul Yaqin merupakan lembaga pendidikan non-formal yang menyelenggarakn pendidikan Al-Qur’an dalam upaya untuk mengoptimalkan penguatan pendidikan karakter di lingkungan Dusun Congol, Desa Jagoan, Kecamatan Sambi, Kabupaten Boyolali. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter anak-anak di Dusun Congol Desa Jagoan melalui beberapa kegiatan yang dilakukan di TPA Nurul Yaqin. Pada penelitian ini, berfokus kepada nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter kejujuran, kesantunan, kerjasama, disiplin, dan berani.Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara angket, wawancara, dan observasi. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa TPA Nurul Yaqin memiliki peran penting dalam mengoptimalkan penguatan pendidikan karakter anak-anak melalui pembimbingan, pendampingan, dan pelatihan secara terus menerus serta memberikan nasihat sehingga mampu membentuk nilai karakter kejujuran, kesantunan, kerjasama, kedisiplinan, dan berani. Kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi memberikan pengajaran bacaan Al-Qur’an secara mendalam, penghafalan surat-surat juz amma, penafsiran ayat Al-Qur’an, serta pembacaan dongeng islami. Selain itu juga diberikan variasi pembelajaran dengan berbasis game.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsumsi MSG organik dan MSG sintetis terhadap nafsu makan tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) strain wistar bunting. Penelitian ini didasari oleh tingginya prevalensi stunting di Indonesia, yang dikaitkan dengan pola makan yang tidak sehat. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain eksperimen true eksperimental dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dan postest only control design. Tikus dibagi menjadi lima kelompok: kelompok kontrol (pakan normal), kelompok MSG organik 60 mg/kgBB, kelompok MSG organik 120 mg/kgBB, kelompok MSG sintetis 60 mg/kgBB, dan kelompok MSG sintetis 120 mg/kgBB. Data nafsu makan dianalisis menggunakan One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) dan uji DMRT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelompok perlakuan MSG organik dan MSG sintetis memiliki rata-rata nafsu makan yang berbeda secara signifikan. Kelompok MSG sintetis dengan dosis 60 mg/kgBB memiliki nafsu makan tertinggi, diikuti oleh kelompok MSG organic 120 mg/kgBB, kelompok kontrol, kelompok MSG sintetis 60 mg/kgBB, dan kelompok MSG sintetis 120 mg/kgBB. Penelit ian ini menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi MSG organic dapat meningkatkan nafsu makan pada tikus putih strain wistar bunting. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk mengkaji efek jangka panjang konsumsi MSG organik dan MSG sintetis terhadap kesehatan tikus, serta untuk mengkaji potensi MSG organik sebagai alternatif penyedap makanan yang lebih aman.

Abstract

Perkembangan globalisasi memberikan dampak pada pola konsumsi masyarakat Indonesia, Monosodium Glutamat (MSG) atau sering disebut vetsin merupakan bahan tambahan pada masakan yang sudah tidak asing lagi. Penggunaan MSG yang melebihi takaran dan dalam waktu panjang memiliki dampak bagi kesehatan salah satunya yaitu organ ginjal, yang fungsi utama ginjal yaitu menyaring darah dan mengeluarkan sisa metabolisme dari dalam tubuh. MSG berbahan dasar organik dapat menjadi alternatif penggunaan MSG sintetis. Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL), yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran histologi ginjal tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) Strain Wistar bunting yang mengkonsumsi MSG organik dan MSG sintetis. Hasil yang didapatkan terdapat perbedaan kerusakan nekrosis sel yang bermakna antara pemberian MSG organik dan MSG sintetis yaitu dengan nilai probabilitas (sig.) adalah 0.002 < 0.05 pada kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan. Namun, pada kerusakan berupa hemoragi, diameter glomerulus, dan lebar ruang bowman tidak terdapat perbedaan kerusakan yang bermakna antara pemberian MSG organik dan MSG sintetis pada kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan.

Abstract

Research in various educational settings reveals that in-service teachers often demonstrate a limited proficiency in language assessment literacy (LAL). Recognizing this, scholars have been investigating factors that might enhance LAL, particularly focusing on the role of experience. Despite this interest, the specific influence of experiential factors on LAL development remains relatively unexplored. Addressing this gap, our study utilized semi-structured retrospective interviews in a narrative inquiry framework to assess how experience impacts the LAL development of two Indonesian EFL teachers. Both teachers, equipped with Master's degrees and relevant assessment training, have differing lengths of teaching experience and work in distinct educational institutions. Our findings indicate that foundational LAL knowledge and skills acquired through language assessment courses (LACs) were further enhanced by additional training and practical application in teaching contexts. Both participants, despite their varied teaching tenures, showed similar patterns of LAL development. This progression appeared influenced by their educational backgrounds, positive attitudes towards assessment, and a shared commitment to refining their assessment practices. The study concludes with recommendations for language educators, EFL teachers, and areas for future research.
