Abstract

The community of Pelita Jaya Village has abundant coastal plants, but their leaves, flowers, stems, and twigs had not been used as materials for products with economic value. This community service aimed to introduce ecoprint, improve practical skills, and encourage the use of local natural materials as the basis of household-scale creative products. The activity was conducted face-to-face at the Pelita Jaya Village Office on 4 May 2023 through lectures, discussions, demonstrations, direct practice, and end-of-session evaluation. Participants consisted of approximately 15 members of the village community, especially PKK women, supported by three lecturers and two students. The activity ran smoothly, participants directly practiced simple ecoprint production, and a fabric product bearing natural plant patterns was produced. The training showed that locally available plant materials can be transformed into environmentally oriented craft products and may become an initial step toward developing household economic activities.

Abstract

Coastal ecosystem degradation in Pagimana District, combined with science instruction that remains largely theoretical, underscores to the need for a learning model that can foster students’ environmental awareness more comprehensively. This study examined the effectiveness of the PjBL-STEAM-IC model in improving students’ environmental awareness in coastal schools across the four KABS dimensions: knowledge, attitude, behavior, and skills. The study was part of a Research and Development project and specifically reports the field-testing phase, which included limited trials, wider trials, and operational implementation. Participants were 150 seventh-grade students from four coastal junior high schools in Pagimana District. Data were collected using an environmental awareness questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, N-gain, the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, and the Kruskal-Wallis Test. The results showed that the PjBL-STEAM-IC model effectively improved students’ environmental awareness across all four dimensions. The mean score increased from 67.41 before implementation to 86.81 after implementation, with N-gain values ranging from 0.62 to 0.64, and all dimensions showed significant differences (p < 0.001). These findings suggest that the PjBL-STEAM-IC model is a promising contextual science learning alternative for strengthening environmental awareness in coastal schools.

Abstract

This study developed a guided inquiry-based learning module using Canva media to enhance critical thinking and learning motivation in Grade VIII students on the topic of the digestive system. Given the low science literacy and critical thinking skills in Indonesia, especially in junior high school science, this module aimed to address the gap in teaching abstract topics. A Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model was applied in small-scale (10 students) and large-scale trials (55 students) at two junior high schools. Data were collected through expert validation, a critical thinking test, and a motivation questionnaire, analyzed using N-Gain and descriptive statistics. Results showed a moderate improvement in critical thinking (N-Gain of 0.63) and high student motivation (88% in the small-scale and 82% in the large-scale trial). The use of Canva within the inquiry-based approach significantly increased engagement and helped students understand abstract concepts, proving that combining inquiry-based learning with visual media is an effective strategy to improve critical thinking and motivation in junior high school science.

Abstract

Modul ajar merupakan salah satu perangkat pembelajaran penting dalam Kurikulum Merdeka yang berfungsi sebagai panduan sistematis bagi guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran. Kualitas modul ajar berpengaruh terhadap pengembangan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi atau Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis komponen penyusun modul ajar IPA dalam mengukur HOTS siswa kelas VII di SMP Negeri 1 Botupingge. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui analisis dokumen terhadap enam modul ajar IPA yang disusun oleh guru. Instrumen penelitian berupa lembar analisis modul ajar yang mencakup lima indikator, yaitu tujuan pembelajaran, capaian pembelajaran, kegiatan pembelajaran, lembar kerja peserta didik (LKPD), dan evaluasi pembelajaran. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan menghitung skor rata-rata dan persentase untuk menentukan kategori kualitas modul. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Modul V memperoleh nilai tertinggi dengan persentase 64%, diikuti Modul II dan Modul VI masing-masing sebesar 62,67%. Nilai terendah terdapat pada Modul I sebesar 46% dan Modul IV sebesar 49%. Secara umum, kualitas modul ajar berada pada kategori cukup. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa beberapa komponen telah mengarah pada HOTS, terutama capaian dan kegiatan pembelajaran, tetapi LKPD dan evaluasi belum sepenuhnya selaras dengan tujuan pengembangan HOTS. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan modul ajar IPA perlu diarahkan pada penguatan keselarasan antara tujuan, kegiatan pembelajaran, LKPD, dan evaluasi agar integrasi HOTS berlangsung secara utuh.

Abstract

Learning in the 21st century demands a paradigm shift in education, including biology learning. The rapid development of technology and information has made society increasingly connected globally in the digital era. 4C skills are crucial to be applied in biology learning, as it not only focuses on learning concepts but also demands analytical skills on natural phenomena and contextual problem solving. This study aims to determine whether the development of HOTS questions using Quizizz can train students' problem-solving skills. The type of research used is ADDIE model development research. This development research procedure applies the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: 1) analyze; 2) design; 3) develop; 4) implement; and 5) evaluate. However, in this study, the process only reached the development stage and was not continued to the next stage, so the final results of the study were limited without field testing or comprehensive evaluation. The subjects of this study were grade X students of SMA Negeri 2 Wonosari. The product developed in this study was HOTS-based questions using Quizizz. The validation process was carried out by two biology lecturers who acted as material and media validators. This validation aimed to assess the feasibility of the developed HOTS quiz product, supported by Quizizz, and to obtain feedback and suggestions. The validation results showed an average score of 81% for question validation and 98% for media validation, both of which fall into the "very valid" category. The use of HOTS quizzes demonstrated an improvement in students' problem-solving abilities. Based on the evaluation results, the average pre-test score for students was 34%, which falls into the low category. After the post-test, the average score increased to 61%, falling into the "high" category.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perubahan keterlibatan belajar dan pemahaman konsep siswa mengenai materi ekosistem setelah penerapan model inkuiri terbimbing, serta mendeskripsikan motivasi belajar siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya tingkat keterlibatan belajar dan pemahaman konsep siswa SMP dalam mempelajari konsep ekosistem. Pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pra-eksperimen one-group pretest-posttest digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 30 siswa kelas VII SMP Muhammadiyah 03 Gorontalo yang dipilih melalui teknik total sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan tiga instrumen: tes pemahaman konsep, lembar observasi keterlibatan belajar, dan angket motivasi belajar. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Normalitas data diuji menggunakan uji Shapiro-Wilk, sedangkan pengujian hipotesis dilakukan menggunakan uji nonparametrik Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa, dengan nilai rata-rata meningkat dari 37,07 pada pretest menjadi 88,13 pada posttest. Uji Wilcoxon Signed-Rank menghasilkan nilai signifikansi <0,001, yang menunjukkan adanya perbedaan signifikan secara statistik antara nilai pretest dan posttest. Selain itu, siswa menunjukkan tingkat keterlibatan dan motivasi belajar yang tinggi selama penerapan model inkuiri terbimbing. Temuan ini mengindikasikan adanya perubahan positif pada pemahaman konsep dan keterlibatan belajar siswa; namun, desain pra-eksperimen tidak memungkinkan penarikan kesimpulan kausal yang definitif terkait peningkatan yang diamati tersebut.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of coastal environment-based Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in improving students’ ecological literacy and learning outcomes in biodiversity ecology. The research was motivated by the need to make ecology and biodiversity learning more contextual, meaningful, and connected to students’ surrounding environmental realities. A quantitative pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The participants were 30 seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Bokan Kepulauan, Banggai Laut Regency, selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using a 25-item multiple-choice learning outcomes test, an ecological literacy questionnaire, and a student activity observation sheet. The data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, normalized gain, and descriptive percentage analysis. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes and ecological literacy after the implementation of coastal environment-based PBL. The N-gain score for learning outcomes reached 0.713, while ecological literacy reached 0.74, both categorized as high. Student activity also remained consistently high during the learning sessions. These findings indicate that coastal environment-based PBL is effective in enhancing students’ conceptual understanding, ecological awareness, and active participation in biodiversity ecology learning.

Abstract

Coastal science learning in Pagimana, Central Sulawesi, has not adequately connected local environmental problems with students’ thinking development and environmental awareness. This study aimed to develop and examine the expert validity of the PjBL-STEAM-IC model, in which IC denotes Innovation and Creativity, for SOLO-based thinking skills and environmental awareness in coastal schools. Using an adapted Borg and Gall research and development procedure, this article reports the needs analysis, hypothetical model design, development of instructional materials and research instruments, expert validation, and Product Revision I. Three validators evaluated the model and its supporting products; their ratings were analysed using Aiken’s V, and their written recommendations were examined descriptively. The developed model comprises six phases linking coastal environmental problems, STEAM-IC project activities, SOLO-based reasoning, and four dimensions of environmental awareness: knowledge, attitude, behaviour, and skills. All validated components were classified as very valid, with Aiken’s V coefficients ranging from 0.902 to 0.961. Expert feedback led to clearer operational syntax, stronger theoretical mapping, more explicit STEAM-IC integration, improved alignment with SOLO-based thinking and environmental awareness, and refinement of the student response questionnaire. The model and its supporting products were therefore considered sufficiently valid to proceed to subsequent classroom field testing.

Abstract

Sumber belajar memegang peran penting dalam membantu guru menyediakan informasi yang relevan dan efektif bagi siswa. Salah satu sumber belajar inovatif adalah e-modul berbasis paradigma Ber2P3, yang dirancang khusus untuk memfasilitasi pembelajaran materi getaran dan gelombang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) menilai kelayakan e-modul; 2) mengevaluasi efektivitas dan kegunaannya berdasarkan paradigma Ber2P3. Penelitian menggunakan model pengembangan Borg dan Gall (1989), melalui 10 tahap, mulai dari penelitian awal hingga implementasi. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 22 siswa kelas VII di MTS Al-Huda Kota Gorontalo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa e-modul ini sangat layak dikembangkan, dengan skor validitas 90,97% yang termasuk kategori "sangat praktis" dan skor praktikalitas 82,00%, memenuhi kriteria kualitas yang diharapkan. Dari segi efektivitas, e-modul memiliki kinerja sangat baik dengan skor 85,71%. Berdasarkan analisis pencapaian pembelajaran, e-modul memenuhi kriteria sedang dengan nilai N-Gain 61,76%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwasanya penerapan e-modul berbasis Ber2P3 ini secara signifikan meningkatkan pemahaman siswa, terlihat dari peningkatan nilai N-Gain antara 30% hingga 70%, yang mengindikasikan bahwa modul ini efektif dan bermanfaat untuk pembelajaran getaran dan gelombang.

Abstract

Tujuan dalam riset ini adalah untuk menyelidiki apakah terdapat dampak penggunaan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT terhadap pencapaian studi siswa pada materi Klasifikasi Makhluk Hidup (suatu penelitian pada murid kelas VII di SMP Negeri 2 Suwawa). Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis Quasy Experimental Design dengan desain Pretest and Posttest Control Group Design. Sampel yang digunakan untuk penelitian ini ialah murid kelas VII-I dengan jumlah 27 murid untuk kelas eksperimen, dan kelas VII-II berjumlah 23 murid untuk kelas kontrol. Riset ini menggunakan sistem pengumpulan data menggunakan percobaan berupa soal pilihan ganda. sistem analisis data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan percobaan validitas, percoban reliabilitas, percobaan normalitas yang menggunakan rumus Kolmogorov-Smirnov, dan percobaan homogenitas, dan percobaan hipotesisnya menggunakan percobaan -t. Berdasarkan hasil kalkulasi diperoleh thitung = 2.319 dan ttabel = 2.010, karena thitung > ttabel maka H_(0 )dan H_1diterima. Jadi dapat disimpulkan model penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TGT (Team Games Tournament) pada materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup berpengaruh pada hasil belajar murid kelas VII SMP Negeri 2 Suwawa.
