Abstract

Abstract

Reproductive and sexual health program for prospective brides is one of programs implemented by government where these activities are aimed at women from adolescence before pregnancy prepare women to become healthy pregnant women and ensure health of mothers so that they can give birth to a healthy and quality generation. Purpose: This study aims to determine effectiveness of the implementation of IEC program on sexual and reproductive health of bride and groom at Gunungsari Public Health Center in 2018. Methods: This study was conducted with a cross-sectional design with a case-control approach, sampling technique used was proportional random sampling. Data collection was carried out on 38 primigravida pregnant women who visited the public health center with a history of participating in IEC catin program as observation group and 38 respondents from primigravida mothers with a history of not participating in KIE catin program as control group. Then data were analyzed by using chi-square. Results: Results showed that knowledge of sexual and reproductive health in two groups did not have a difference (p = 1,000), as did catin's attitudes towards sexual and reproductive health in two groups (p = 0.487). IEC and sexual health are less effective in increasing knowledge and attitudes. Discussion: The need for more specific program evaluation to increase outcomes by program objectives. Multiple workflows, standard procedures, and program performance should be reviewed by program objectives to increase success. Also, cooperation with several related parties is necessary as an effort to increase public awareness to actively participate in program.

Kata kunci: daya saing UMKM; inovasi produk; permen madu trigona; ibu hamil; daerah terpencil AbstractThis service aims to strengthen the competitiveness of MSMEs in remote areas through innovative Trigona chewy honey candy products for pregnant women and toddlers. The focus of the service is carried out on the "Creative Rangsot" MSMEs located in North Lombok Regency, NTB, which is a 3T (Disadvantaged, Frontier, Outermost) area. Even though these MSMEs have succeeded in producing various local products, they face the challenges of market stagnation and intense competition, especially in the consumer segment for pregnant women and toddlers. The proposed solution is product diversification by developing chewy Trigona honey candy, which has high nutritional value and is specifically designed to meet the nutritional needs of pregnant women and toddlers. The approach used involves initial coordination with partners, production training, hygienic and attractive packaging design innovation, and digital marketing strategies. The expected results include improving product quality, expanding markets, and increasing the competitiveness of these MSMEs. The implementation of science and technology by the service team is expected to have a positive impact on public health and business sustainability in this remote area. Keywords: SME competitiveness; product innovation; trigona honey candies; pregnant women; remote areas

Abstract

Background: Falls are a major public health problem among older adults, leading to injuries, disability, and loss of independence. Community-based exercise programs are recommended as a preventive strategy. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a 4-week multicomponent elderly exercise program on balance and fall risk among Elderly School participants in West Lombok, Indonesia. Methods: A quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted in February 2025 in Gunungsari, Mambalan Village. Sixty older adults aged ≥60 years were recruited using purposive sampling. Balance and fall risk were assessed using the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) and Timed Up and Go (TUG), while functional status was recorded using the SKILAS form. The intervention consisted of multicomponent exercise sessions conducted twice weekly for four weeks (eight sessions). Paired t-test or Wilcoxon signed-rank test was applied for continuous variables, and McNemar or chi-square test for categorical outcomes. Statistical significance was set at α = 0.05, with effect sizes and 95% confidence intervals (CI) reported. Results: Mean BBS scores significantly increased from 38.5 (95% CI: 37.42–39.58) at baseline to 45.7 (95% CI: 44.72–46.68) post-intervention, indicating a mean improvement of 7.2 points (p < 0.001; Cohen’s d ≈ 0.72). The proportion of participants at risk of falls decreased from 40% (24/60; 95% CI: 28.6–52.6%) to 18% (10/60; 95% CI: 9.3–28.0%), representing an absolute reduction of 22 percentage points (p = 0.002). Conclusion: A 4-week multicomponent elderly exercise program significantly improved balance and reduced fall risk among older adults. This intervention is recommended for routine implementation in Elderly Schools and primary healthcare settings as a practical and effective fall-prevention strategy.
