Abstract

The use of plants has an impact and invaluable knowledge and a wealth of culture that needs to be excavated and preserved so that traditional knowledge about plants remain attached and not lost inedible by age. This research was conducted in the District of Berau tribal communities Sambaliung (Bebanir Bangun and Gurimbang village). Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, field exploration, literature studies, sample preservation, processing and manufacturing of herbarium specimens. Based on the results of research conducted in Bebanir Bangun dan Gurimbang, District Sambaliung, Berau district in obtaining 78 kinds of medicinal plants derived from 38 families and be used as an alternative medicine community. Habitat herbs include yard (56%), riparian (9%), forest (5%) and others (30%) of medicinal plants. Based on the processing method generally tribal communities Berau Bebanir Bangun dan Gurimbang village cultivate medicinal plants to be used in a way crushed and then taped (47%), boiled and drunk (26%), burned or heated (8%), kneaded and massaged (6%), cleaned and then affixed to 5%), grated and filtered (4%), chewed (3%) and flattened (1%).

Abstract

This research aims to determine the types of medicinal plants used by the tribal communities of Kutai, herb medicine, the way to processing of medicinal plants and the environment unit of medicinal plants. The method used is descriptive methods, Participatory Ethnobotanical Appraisal technique, interviews and snow ball and also transect walk systematic sampling. Data analysis using Ms Excel 2013.Has been found as many as 113 kinds of medicinal plants, for which 109 species are from 53 families and 4 other species are not identified. Potion used as many 38 types of potions. Medicinal plants was processed with crushed/mashed 51 species; boiled 43 species; use directly 13 species; kneaded 12 species; marinated/brewed 5 species; made the statue 3 species, slice 2 species; dried, squeezed, shredded, torn and plaited each of them 1 species. The most environment unit of medicinal plants was found in the yard (73%), groves or simpung (11%), stall 5%, not obtained 4%, the curb 4% and in the riverside (3%).

Abstract

This research aims to find out what kind of plants that become the source of nectar for Apis dorsata Fabr. in two different villages, namely Bumi Harapan village and Bukit Raya village, in Sepaku Region, East Borneo, and also to identify the pollen morphology of the nectar found in those plants that contained in honey. Based on the identification results of the nectar found from both villages there are significantly different number in variety of plants between these two samples. In Bumi Harapan, 27 families and 64 species of plants were found as the source of nectar, with 7 dominant families

Abstract

This research was conducted in November 2015 to March 2016 in Anatomy Laboratory and Plant Systematic. This study aims to determine the morphology of the pollen that contained in the liquid bees Apis dorsata Fabr. and to determine the type of plant food sources of honey bee Apis dorsata Fabr. Based on the results of research that has been conducted on a sample of honey bees Apis dorsata Fabr. from the villages of Hulu Kelay And Nyapa Indah, while the estimating pollen found as many as 22 Famillies and 29 species of plants. The honey samples from the Hulu Kelay’s has found 17 famillies and 23 species of plants. The dominant plant as feed for bees Apis dorsata Fabr. in the village of Hulu Kelay has found Family of Moraceae and species of Antiaris toxicaria totalling 98 pollen. Whereas in honey samples derived from village of Nyapa Indah has found 13 famillies and 15 species of plants. The dominant plant as feed for bees Apis dorsata Fabr. in the village of Nyapa Indah has found Family of Verbenaceae dan species of Vitex sp. totalling 90 pollen. Based on the morphology of the pollen (shape, size, ornament and arperture) and pollen with unit of monad dominates both samples. The shape are varies from oblate, suboblate, oblate spheroidal, prolate spheroidal, subprolate and prolate. Category size from small to large ornament consisting of psilate, perforate and echinate. Aperture consists of inaperture, monocolpate, monoporate, triporate, tricolpate, tricolporate and pantoporate.

Abstract

This research was conducted in May 2016 in RSUD dr. Kanujoso Djatiwibowo Balikpapan by using acetolysis method. This aims to determine the pollen morphology and determine the plant species that becomes the pollen source which triggers the ARI also determine the periodic calendar of otolaringology patients in RSUD dr. Kanujoso Djatiwibowo Balikpapan all the time. The pollen analysis results on a sample of ARI mucus patients in RSUD dr. Kanujoso Djatiwibowo Balikpapan, was found there are 4 plant species and 3 families. The plants which expected dominating as the pollen source that triggers ARI are from Cyperaceae family which is Scirpus lacustris, Gramineae family which are Oryza sativa and Saccharum spontaneum also Liliaceae family which is Lilium regale. Based on the pollen morphology (shape, size, ornament and aperture), pollens with monad unit dominate the sample. The pollen shape are various from prolate, oblate spheroidal, subprolate and oblate. Ornament type is psilate. Aperture consists of triporate, pantoporate and inaperture. Therefore, it can be stated that the species of pollen source that triggers ARI has pollen morphology which are simpler and small. Based on ARI patient data in RSUD dr. Kanujoso Djatiwibowo Balikpapan from 2013 to 2015 is known periodically appear at the end of the year to early next year and the ARI interference occurs at the beginning of the dry season (April - May).

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine of the concentration of heavy metal Cd in water spinach plants and in the sediments as a its growth medium. The sampling is done at several locations of water spinach suppliers such as Benanga reservoirs, Asparagus Bengkuring and the rear outdoor area of FKESMAS Unmul. Cd contect was analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS).The results showed that the content of Cadmium (Cd) in water spinach plants, which were taken from Benanga reservoir is 0.0022 ± 0.0003 mg Kg-1; Asparagus Bengkuring is 0.0021 ± 0.0004 mg Kg-1 ; the Rear outdoor area of FKESMAS Unmul is 0.0016 ± 0.0003 mg/kg and the average level of Cadmium in sediment, which were taken from reservoir Benanga is 0.442 ± 0.336 mg Kg-1; Asparagus Bengkuring is 0.513 ± 0.317 mg Kg-1; the Rear outdoor area of FKESMAS Unmul is 0.08 ± 0.039 mg Kg-1. The level of Cadmium in water spinach plant ranges from 0.0016 to 0.0022 mg Kg-1, which is under the limit determined by the BPOM (0.2 mg Kg-1). The level Cadmium in the plant is determined by the levels of heavy metals in sediment with regression coofficient 0.001X Y = 0.001x + 0.001) at significance level 0.008. The conclusion of this research is the levels of heavy metals in the water spinach plant originating from several suppliers locations in Samarinda meets the qualifications of hygienic vegetables set by BPOM. And, it also concluded that the level of heavy metals in water spinach is specified by the level of heavy metal in its sediment.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the interaction that occurs on apu wood (Pistia stratiotes L.) in post-coal pool water and the ability of apu wood (Pistia stratiotes L.) on the absorption of manganese (Mn) and cadmium (Cd) from pond water post mining coal. This research use Factorial Randomized Completed Random (RAL) with 2 factors that is waste water concentration (100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 0%) and variations in the weight of apu wood (Pistia stratiotes L.) (300 gr, 200 gr and 100 gr). The number of treatments was 20 treatment combinations. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Product and Service Solutions) 16.0. The results show that apu wood is effective in lowering Mn and Cd metals against the pool of former coal mines. The effectiveness of Mn metal absorption by apu woods (Pistia stratiotes L.) indicated in all treatment combinations with a percentage of RE of 55.56-100% and the effectiveness of Cd metal absorption is shown in all treatment combinations with a percentage of RE of 81.81-100%.

Abstract

Limbah laundry merupakan limbah yang mengandung senyawa yang sulit terdegradasi dan dapat mencemari lingkungan. Salah satu cara untuk mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan yaitu fitoremediasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh limbah laundry terhadap pertumbuhan melati air dan eceng padi serta untuk mengetahui kemampuan melati air dan eceng padi dalam menurunkan kadar deterjen. Pengambilan sampel limbah laundry di Jalan Pramuka, Samarinda. Uji pendahuluan dengan konsentrasi limbah laundry 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% dan 100% dengan melati air dan eceng padi sebanyak 200 gr, pengamatan selama 7 hari. Uji sesungguhnya dengan konsentrasi limbah laundry 25% dengan melati air dan eceng padi 0, 100, 200 dan 300 gr, diamati selama 14 hari. Pengukuran kadar deterjen, kualitas air serta pertumbuhan tanaman dilakukan sebelum dan sesudah pengamatan. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji One-way Anova dan Kruskal Wallis dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanaman melati air dan eceng padi dapat tumbuh dengan baik pada media limbah cair laundry. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan semakin meningkatnya jumlah daun, panjang akar, berat kering dan laju pertumbuhan relatif melati air dan eceng padi.Tumbuhan melati air lebih efisien menyerap limbah deterjen. Hal ini dilihat dari nilai removal efficiency tertinggi pada tanaman melati air yaitu 76,68% sedangkan eceng padi sebesar 67,61%

Abstract

The purposes of experiments were to determine how many were total waters of steam flow and through fall on S. laevis trees and how many were the highest nutrient contentes of Nitrogen (N), Phosphor (P), Potassium (K), Calcium (Ca), and Magnesium (Mg) in rain waters of and S. laevis trees. The method used experiment was quantitative analysis which was done measurement directly in the field, the data consistes of tree height, steam diameter, canopy diameter, measurement waters of steam flow and through fall, nutrient contentes (N, P, K, Ca, and Mg). The result of an average totally of the highest steam flow and through fall was 6.850,00 ml in method 2. Although an average of the lowest steam flow was 33,33 ml in method 3 and an average of the lowest through fall was 3.275,83 ml in method 1. An average of the highest nutrient content N was 695 ppm in steam flow the averages of the highest nutrient contentes P and K were P= 4 ppm and K= 8.619 ppm in through fall, an average of the highest nutrient content Ca was 3 ppm in through fall and an average of the highest nutrient content Mg in through fall was 2 ppm in through fall.

Abstract

Forest has been considered as one of natural resources that could brought benefits for Dayak community based on their ecological and economical values. Edible fruits are annual plant type that could grow fruits and can be consumed. This study was held to obtain data, what type of plant that is utilized by Dayak Tahol community in their daily lives and how they utilize the edible fruits from Malinau district. This study was conducted by using explorative survey method, which is divided into two steps: first, the edible fruits inventory which is familiar by local people; second, observation at the local community and this method is supported by approach and sampling technique. This result showed that the total known edible fruits plant was about fifty two genus obtained from twenty five families and 2.207 individual species in total, moreover Shanoon-Winner diversity index (H’= 3.49) can be grouped in high diversity (H’ > 3).
