Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi mahasiswa Pendidikan IPA Universitas Negeri Medan terhadap penggunaan media visual interaktif pada pembelajaran materi zat aditif dan adiktif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan instrumen berupa kuesioner skala Likert yang disebarkan melalui Google Form kepada mahasiswa Stambuk 2023 dan 2024. Media visual interaktif dianggap mampu memfasilitasi pemahaman konsep abstrak, memberikan visualisasi materi yang lebih jelas, serta meningkatkan motivasi dan keterlibatan mahasiswa selama proses pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa memberikan persepsi positif terhadap penggunaan media ini. Aspek yang dinilai paling menonjol meliputi kejelasan informasi, kualitas tampilan visual, kemudahan navigasi, serta relevansi konten dengan kebutuhan belajar. Selain itu, mahasiswa menilai bahwa media visual interaktif sesuai dengan karakteristik generasi digital yang lebih responsif terhadap konten berbasis visual dan interaksi langsung. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa media visual interaktif memiliki potensi besar sebagai alat bantu pembelajaran modern yang efektif dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran IPA, khususnya pada materi zat aditif dan adiktif. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar bagi pengembangan media pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan mahasiswa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan menganalisis pengaruh penggunaan media simulasi interaktif PhET (Physics Education Technology) terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar IPA pada materi Gelombang siswa kelas VIII SMP. Latar belakang utama penelitian ini didasarkan pada tantangan yang dihadapi dalam pembelajaran IPA, di mana konsep-konsep yang bersifat abstrak seperti Gelombang, sering menjadi hambatan utama yang menyebabkan rendahnya hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penelitian ini menggunakan metode Kajian Pustaka Sistematis (Systematic Literature Review), di mana berbagai temuan dari penelitian-penelitian eksperimen dan literatur terdahulu yang relevan mengenai penggunaan PhET pada jenjang SMP dianalisis dan disintesis secara mendalam. Hasil sintesis literatur secara konsisten menunjukkan bahwa penerapan media simulasi PhET memberikan kontribusi positif dan signifikan terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar IPA siswa SMP, dengan tingkat efektivitas yang optimal pada jenjang ini, bahkan memiliki nilai effect size yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan jenjang lainnya. Secara spesifik, media PhET terbukti efektif dalam memfasilitasi visualisasi konsep abstrak seperti gelombang berjalan dan gelombang stasioner, serta meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains dan pemahaman konseptual pada materi Getaran dan Gelombang. Disimpulkan bahwa media simulasi PhET memiliki pengaruh positif yang kuat dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar IPA materi Gelombang, dan direkomendasikan untuk diintegrasikan sebagai solusi inovatif dalam mengatasi kesulitan pembelajaran konsep abstrak.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji efektivitas media Wordwall sebagai media pembelajaran interaktif pada materi sistem pencernaan manusia melalui pendekatan studi literatur. Kajian dilakukan dengan cara menelaah berbagai literatur baik artikel ilmiah terbitan lima tahun terakhir yang membahas penerapan Wordwall dalam pembelajaran IPA serta penggunaan media berbasis gamifikasi digital. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa Wordwall mampu meningkatkan motivasi, keterlibatan, serta hasil belajar siswa melalui tampilan visual yang menarik, fitur permainan yang variatif, dan umpan balik langsung yang memperkuat pemahaman konsep. Sejumlah penelitian eksperimen melaporkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada nilai post-test siswa yang belajar menggunakan Wordwall dibandingkan dengan metode pembelajaran konvensional. Pada materi sistem pencernaan manusia, Wordwall dinilai layak digunakan, ditunjukkan oleh tingginya skor validasi serta meningkatnya pemahaman konseptual siswa terhadap struktur dan fungsi organ pencernaan. Dengan demikian, Wordwall dapat dijadikan media digital yang relevan dan efektif untuk mendukung pembelajaran IPA di era Revolusi Industri 4.0, terutama pada materi yang memerlukan visualisasi dan interaktivitas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk mengevaluasi keberhasilan penerapan Augmented Reality (AR) yang menggunakan platform Assemblr EDU dalam proses belajar, terutama untuk topik sistem peredaran darah manusia pada tingkat pendidikan dasar sampai menengah. Tantangan yang sering dihadapi siswa dalam menguasai ide-ide biologi yang sulit dipahami, seperti bentuk organ dan cara kerja sirkulasi darah, membuat perlunya alat bantu belajar yang lebih nyata dan menarik. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka dengan analisis deskriptif terhadap sepuluh artikel jurnal yang relevan dari tahun 2020 hingga 2025, yang terdiri dari enam penelitian asli dan empat ulasan. Sintesis hasil menunjukkan bahwa AR lewat Assemblr EDU dapat meningkatkan ketertarikan, dorongan belajar, penguasaan materi, serta kemampuan berpikir kritis dan kreatif para pelajar. Fitur visualisasi 3D interaktif yang disediakan terbukti praktis dan cocok digunakan berdasarkan penilaian pakar serta tanggapan pengguna. Lebih lanjut, siswa sekolah menengah pertama merupakan kelompok terbesar yang memanfaatkan AR karena mereka sedang dalam fase perkembangan yang membutuhkan bantuan visual yang jelas. Secara umum, penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa AR berbasis Assemblr EDU adalah alat inovatif yang ampuh untuk memperbaiki mutu pembelajaran sains, khususnya pada subjek sistem peredaran darah, dan memiliki prospek luas untuk diterapkan di tingkat pendidikan lainnya.

Abstract

Effectiveness of Project-Based Inquiry Learning in Developing HOTS-Based Scientific Literacy: Moderated by Science Process Skill. Objectives: This study examines three core questions: (1) whether the Project-Based Inquiry (PBI) model improves students’ HOTS scientific literacy, (2) whether students’ initial Science Process Skills (SPS) influence their outcomes, and (3) whether there is an interaction between the two. These variables were selected because HOTS-based scientific literacy and SPS are essential competencies for prospective elementary teachers. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used with two naturally formed groups. The experimental group learned through the project-based inquiry model, while the control group used guided inquiry. Data were collected using a project assessment sheet and the HOTS scientific literacy test, with identical pre- and post-tests administered.  The data were analyzed using: 1) Normality and homogeneity test, 2) Paired sample t-test, 3) Independent sample t-test, and 4) Hypothesis testing was carried out using two-way ANOVA, where H₀ was rejected if the significance value was <0.05. Findings: The analysis for the learning model factor yielded a highly significant result (p = 0.000; < 0.05). The results show that the learning model had a significant effect on HOTS scientific literacy, with the PBI model outperforming guided inquiry (p = 0.000). SPS level did not produce a significant independent effect (p = 0.562), and no interaction was found between the learning model and SPS. These findings indicate that the PBI model is the primary factor driving students’ improvement. Conclusion: Overall, Project-Based Inquiry is an effective approach to strengthening HOTS scientific literacy among prospective elementary teachers. Although SPS levels did not independently influence outcomes, students across SPS levels still benefited from PBI. These findings offer theoretical insight into how inquiry–project learning supports higher-order reasoning and provide practical guidance for developing instructional designs that foster analytical and evidence-based thinking in teacher education programs. Keywords: project-based inquiry, guided inquiry, science process skill, hots, scientific literacy, science education.

Abstract

Fires are sudden disasters that can cause significant losses, both material and non-material. Prompt early response is crucial to prevent the spread of fire, but many communities lack simple and easy-to-use fire extinguishers. A five-member community service team, in collaboration with the Kesuma Community Learning Center (PKBM), led by Ms. Siti Nurhayati, located in Lk 2 Pasar 2 Barat Terjun, Medan Marelan, and involving 40 community members as partners, conducted training and developed an innovation called a "Fulerene Patterned Fire Blanket." This blanket is made from heat-resistant fullerene-patterned fiberglass and coated with sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO₃), which accelerates fire extinguishing by lowering the temperature and inhibiting oxidation. This combination of materials results in a device that is high-temperature resistant, lightweight, and reusable after washing. This activity included outreach, demonstrations, hands-on training, and involved the local community in simple production of the device. The results demonstrated an increase in community knowledge and skills in dealing with small fires. Enthusiasm for this safe and economical design has also increased disaster awareness and preparedness at the community level. The positive response has opened up opportunities for broader program development. Scientific studies have shown that fullerene-patterned fire blankets are effective as a preventative solution, enhancing community preparedness for early fire risks.

Abstract

Abstract: This article presents a needs analysis study of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)-based learning as a foundation for developing an English Immersive Learning model in elementary schools. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, involving five public elementary schools in Medan with 15 English teachers and 150 fourth-grade students as participants. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The findings reveal that current English learning in elementary schools remains predominantly teacher-centered, lacking communicative activities that stimulate genuine language use. Students demonstrated high intrinsic motivation toward interactive and contextual learning experiences. These needs indicate the urgency of developing an English Immersive Learning model grounded in CLT principles to foster communicative competence from an early age. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan angket, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar masih didominasi pendekatan teacher-centered dan minim aktivitas komunikatif yang mendorong penggunaan bahasa secara autentik. Murid menunjukkan motivasi intrinsik yang tinggi terhadap pengalaman belajar yang interaktif dan kontekstual. Temuan kebutuhan tersebut mengindikasikan urgensi pengembangan model English Immersive Learning berbasis CLT untuk menumbuhkan kompetensi komunikatif sejak usia dini. Abstract

The Toba Caldera region, designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark, requires continuous efforts to preserve its environment and strengthen the ecoliteracy of its community. This study investigated improvements in students’ ecoliteracy, including knowledge, environmental caring attitudes, and pro-environmental behaviors, through the use of problem based learning (PBL) integrated with geopark socioscientific issues (GSSI) presented in a digital comic (Comdigi) format. A total of 156 junior high school students in the Toba Caldera area participated in the study. A total of 78 students learned through direct instruction (DI), and 78 received PBL with GSSI in Comdigi. Ecoliteracy knowledge was measured using a 30-item test, while caring attitude and pro-environmental behavior were assessed using questionnaires with 15 items each. The results showed that PBL integrated with GSSI in Comdigi significantly outperformed DI in enhancing ecoliteracy knowledge 39.80%, caring attitudes 49.8% and in pro-environmental behaviors 12.50% with N-gain score of 0.71. These findings confirm that incorporating GSSI in a Comdigi based PBL model effectively strengthens students’ ecoliteracy related to the Toba Caldera UNESCO Global Geopark (TCUGGp).

Abstract

One of the problems in science learning at the high school level is the low scientific literacy skills based on students' Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), especially in the aspects of analysis (C4), evaluation (C5), and creation (C6). This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' HOTS literacy through the application of the 5E Learning Cycle model assisted by Powtoon media on the Reaction Rate material in class XI of SMA Negeri 2 Medan, and to describe the HOTS literacy aspects that are most developed. This study uses a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design of one-group pretest-posttest type on 36 students. The results showed that the average pre-test score of 34.22 increased to 85.22 in the post-test with an N-gain value of 0.78 (high category). The t-test results showed a statistically significant increase. The percentage of HOTS literacy indicators achieved showed that analysis (C4) achieved 77.27%, evaluation (C5) achieved 74.87%, and creativity (C6) achieved 50%. These findings indicate that implementing the 5E Learning Cycle model with the help of Powtoon has the potential to improve students' HOTS literacy, particularly in analysis and evaluation skills.
