Abstract

One of the definite successful of rice breeding programs for increasing yield and tolerance to environmental stress condition is selection method. Selection method will be effectively if it is supported by a perfect knowledge of genetics character inheritance. The objectives of this study is to investigate the information of inheritance pattern adapted of rice towards low temperature stress condition. The experiment was conducted in both Sesean rural area, Toraja regency, South Sulawesi on 1500 m above sea levels, an mean temperature 15 o C, type of soil is Podzolic and at Bogor Agriculture Institute. This experiment is done in January 2006 until July 2007. The result showed that tolerance parental grew well and higher yield than sensitive parental. There were no significant differences between F1 and F1 reciprocal for all characters. Tolerance parental is more superior than sensitive parental in all characters have been tested. Mean of F1 generation is in between tolerance parental and sensitive parental. BCP1 has spheres wider than parentals and F1 generation, but BCP2 smaller than parentals and F1 generation. F2 generation is spheres wider than the average of both parentals. The m [d] [h] genetic model is the most suitable for all characters. Except, date of flowering and weight of filled rice where appropriate models is m [d] [h] [l]. Broad sense and narrow sense heritability is range between low to high. Based on the degree of dominant, additive effect is higher than dominant effect. The negative F value reached on date of flowering and fur lenght; and others characters, F value is positive.

Abstract

A study to explore the agronomic response of some soybean genotypes to temporary flooding in the type-B overflow tidal swamp and to obtain the adaptive genotype to the environment was arranged in a split-plot design at coordinates 2°64’46.77” S and 104°75’27.75” E with an altitude of 3.5 m above sea level. The main plot was subject to short-term flooding with a variety of cultivation technologies consisting of saturated soil culture (SSC) for one month without flooding, SSC for one month with flooding, SSC during plant growth without flooding, SSC during plant growth with flooding and non-SSC/dry cultivation. The subplot was soybean genotype consisting of 6 genotypes: Tanggamus, Karasumame (Naihou), M652, Anjasmoro, M100-47-52-13, and Tachinagaha. The result showed that impaired soybean growth at the beginning of the growth stage caused pressure on the later growth stage and decreased soybean yield. Short-term flooding reduced the soybean yield. The non-tropical genotypes of Karasumamae (Naihou), M652 and Tachinagaha produced the lowest yield of seeds; 20% lower than the tropical genotypes of Anjasmoro, M100-47-52-13 and Tanggamus with SSC during plant growth without flooding treatment. The Karasumame (Naihou) genotype produced the highest seed yield of the three non-tropical genotypes. Anjasmoro and M100-47-52-13 produced the highest seed yield at temporary flooding.

Abstract

Sorghum development in Indonesia is directed towards cultivation in dryland and acid soil with low P availability. This research was aimed to obtain information on the performance of sorghum traits for selection in P deficient environment at early vegetative phase (3 weeks after planting), agronomic and yield potential traits in both P sufficient and P deficient environments, also to select high productivity sorghum genotypes which could tolerate P deficiency. The genetic materials used were 19 F7 recombinant inbred lines from a cross of B69 x Numbu developed under optimum condition (indirect breeding) by single seed decent. Variety Numbu and B69 used as checks. This research was conducted at The Indonesian Center for Biotechnology and Agriculture Plant Genetic Resources experimental field, Bogor, from May to September 2017. The experiment used a randomized complete block design with 3 replicates. The results showed that agronomic and yield traits varied among inbred lines under low P condition and optimum P condition. Adaptive lines showed better growth and yield compared to sensitive ones under low P condition. Plant height, panicle weight, and grain weight per panicle had high estimates of broad sense heritability. Selection based on stress tolerance index was able to identify inbred lines 286-6, 115-9, 114-7, 331-8, 170-9, 151-8, 104-7, 413-7, 68-5, 315-6, and 341-7 as tolerant to low P condition.Keywords: heritability, indirect breeding, optimum P condition, stress tolerance index

Abstract

The genetic analysis and selection of transgressive segregants on agronomic characters are required in a sorghumbreeding program for obtaining high proportion homozygosity rapidly in the early generations. This study aimed to obtainthe information on the performance of agronomic characters, estimate genes’ action, broad-sense heritability, coefficient ofgenetic variability, and select transgressive segregant on F2 population of sorghum based on grain yield. The research wasconducted from July 2014 until October 2014 in Dramaga, Bogor. About 300 and 150 individuals F2 populations of B69 ×Numbu and B69 × Kawali, respectively, were used as genetic materials. The results showed that plant height and paniclelength of B69 × Numbu and B69 × Kawali populations were controlled by many genes with additive gene action. The grainyield and grain yield per panicle were controlled by many genes with additive gene action and complementary epistasis,had high heritability, and large coefficients of genetic variability. The transgressive segregant selection had selected 14individuals of B69 × Numbu and 134 individuals of B69 × Kawali populations based on grain yield per panicle.

Abstract

Akar tanaman memiliki respon yang bervariasi sebagai bentuk adaptasi pada kondisi P rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi tanggap morfologi akar dari galur-galur inbrida sorgum pada kondisi P rendah. Percobaan ini menggunakan rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak (RKLT) tersarang dua faktor yaitu genotipe dan dosis pupuk P. Genotipe yang digunakan terdiri atas 11 galur inbrida sorgum (RIL-F8), tetua peka (B-69), tetua toleran (Numbu) dan 2 varietas nasional (WHP dan Kawali). Dosis pupuk yang digunakan terdiri atas dosis P cukup (66.76 kg ha-1 P2O5) dan P rendah (33.38 kg ha-1 P2O5). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan tanggap morfologi akar di antara galur-galur inbrida (RIL-F8) sorgum pada kondisi P rendah. Galur-galur toleran memiliki panjang akar terpanjang (41.33-61.87 cm), volume akar (8.87-12.87 mL), diameter akar terpanjang (0.88-1.02 mm) dan jumlah akar proteoid (2.4-4.0) yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan galur-galur peka pada kondisi P rendah. Karakter-karakter tersebut mendukung tingginya biomassa galur toleran pada kondisi P rendah, sehingga menjadi karakter penting untuk seleksi adaptasi akar pada kondisi P rendah. Abstract

Sorgum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) merupakan tanaman multiguna yang prospektif untuk dikembangkan di Indonesia sebagai sumber pangan, pakan dan bioenergi. Nilai Brix pada nira batang dan karakter malai pada sorgum merupakan karakter hasil yang perlu diperhatikan dalam perakitan varietas sorgum multiguna. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi keragaman nilai Brix pada nira batang dan karakter malai serta komponen hasil dari galur-galur sorgum multiguna IPB dan responnya terhadap perbedaan kondisi lingkungan. Materi genetik yang digunakan adalah 16 galur sorgum generasi F7 hasil seleksi pedigree dan bulk secara terpisah dari tiga populasi hasil persilangan dan 4 varietas sorgum nasional, ditanam menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok di dua kondisi lingkungan yaitu musim kemarau tahun 2019 dan musim hujan tahun 2020. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan karakter hasil yaitu bobot biji per malai dan nilai Brix pada nira batang selain dipengaruhi oleh genotipe dan lingkungan, juga dipengaruhi oleh interaksi genotipe x lingkungan. Analisis korelasi menunjukkan tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan antara nilai Brix pada nira batang dengan bobot biji per malai. Masing-masing berkorelasi nyata positif dengan tinggi tanaman, sehingga sorgum yang tinggi cenderung menghasilkan bobot biji per malai dan nilai Brix yang tinggi. Genotipe PI 150/N-043-16-5-5-P dan PI 150/K-19-6-2-B merupakan genotipe dengan tinggi tanaman, bobot biji per malai dan nilai Brix yang tinggi dibanding genotipe lainnya, dan setara dengan varietas Bioguma 1, Bioguma 3, dan Numbu. Abstract

Upaya untuk menghasilkan varietas gandum tropika dengan potensi hasil baik dan adaptif di agroekosistem Indonesia terus dilakukan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memperoleh informasi tentang keragaan dan mengukur nilai parameter genetik genotipe F2:3 gandum, Materi genetik yang digunakan adalah galur-galur segregan transgresif putatif generasi F2:3 hasil seleksi pada generasi F2 dari famili G1/Se, G2/Se, G3/Se, dan Ja/Se. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juni hingga November 2018 di Kebun Percobaan Balai Penelitian Tanaman Hias, Cipanas, Jawa Barat (1,100 m dpl). Penelitian disusun dalam rancangan kelompok lengkap teracak dengan perbesaran. Lima varietas tetua digunakan sebagai pembanding. Pengamatan dilakukan pada karakter agronomi dan komponen hasil. Keempat famili F2:3 gandum menunjukkan keragaan yang melebihi tetua terbaiknya pada karakter panjang malai, jumlah biji per tanaman, dan jumlah anakan produktif. Nilai duga heritabilitas arti luas dan nilai koefisien keragaman genetik yang tinggi terdapat pada karakter jumlah anakan produktif, jumlah biji malai utama, bobot biji malai utama, bobot 100 butir, jumlah biji per tanaman dan bobot biji per tanaman. Hasil verifikasi menunjukkan tidak terdapat galur-galur yang terkonfirmasi sebagai segregan transgresif. Seleksi berdasarkan karakter bobot biji per tanaman menghasilkan 30 galur F2:3 dari empat famili dengan diferensial seleksi mencapai 59%. Abstract

Mutasi merupakan teknik untuk meningkatkan keragaman genetik sebagai modal dasar perakitan varietas unggul. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis keragaman genetik populasi M2 cabai hasil iradiasi sinar gamma berdasarkan karakter morfologi. Analisis keragaman genetik dilakukan melalui pendugaan ragam genetik, heritabilitas arti luas, serta sidik lintas karakter-karakter yang berpengaruh langsung maupun tidak langsung terhadap hasil. Sebanyak 350 tanaman M2 dievaluasi karakter morfologinya di Kebun Percobaan BB Biogen Bogor pada bulan Agustus 2020 hingga Januari 2021. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai keragaman genetik yang luas pada populasi M2 diperoleh pada karakter umur panen dan lebar tajuk. Nilai heritabilitas arti luas yang tinggi terdapat pada karakter panjang buah, diameter buah, bobot per buah, panjang daun, lebar daun, dan lebar tajuk. Sementara itu sidik lintas menunjukkan terdapat dua karakter yang memiliki nilai pengaruh langsung yang besar terhadap hasil yaitu diameter batang dan lebar tajuk. Abstract

Karakter stay greenness pada sorgum berkaitan dengan kemampuan mempertahankan kehijauan daun dan laju fotosintesis pada kondisi cekaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi kendali genetik karakter agronomi, stay greenness serta identifikasi segregan transgresif empat populasi F2 sorgum. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan bulan Februari sampai Mei 2020 di Kebun Percobaan IPB University Leuwikopo, Dramaga, Bogor, dengan ketinggian 250 m di atas permukaan laut (dpl). Bahan genetik yang digunakan adalah populasi Numbu x Samurai 2, Kawali x Pahat, Kawali x B69, Super 2 x PI-150-20-A, dan tujuh genotipe tetuanya. Setiap populasi terdiri atas 300 tanaman F2 dan masing-masing tetua sebanyak 60 tanaman. Pendugaan kendali genetik berdasarkan nilai skewness dan kurtosis. Identifikasi segregan transgresif menggunakan karakter terpilih berdasarkan nilai parameter genetik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakter bobot biji per tanaman dikendalikan banyak gen aditif pada populasi Numbu x Samurai 2 dan Kawali x Pahat, sedangkan karakter stay greenness pada semua populasi dikendalikan banyak gen aditif. Semua karakter yang diamati memiliki nilai heritabilitas arti luas sedang sampai tinggi. Delapan belas individu dari persilangan Kawali x B69 dan Super 2 x PI-150-20-A diduga sebagai segregan transgresif berdasarkan karakter bobot biji per tanaman dan stay greenness. Segregan yang diperoleh digalurkan dengan menerapkan metode pedigree. Kata kunci: aksi gen, aditif, indeks transgresif, keragaman genetik

Abstract

Sorghum is a globally important commodity for food, feed, and fuel, and is known to have a high tolerance to heat, drought, and other abiotic stresses, and have a large genetic variation for grain yield under low-P conditions. Agricultural land in Indonesia is dominated by acid soils with limited P availability, of a total of 144.5 million ha, around 107.3 million ha are acid soils. Information regarding the tolerance of sorghum to P deficiency conditions is still very limited. The review aimed to discuss the adaptation strategy of sorghum to P deficiency. Studies showed that sorghum has a moderate adaptation to Al3+ stress with low P. Under various P levels, the performance of sorghum was also very diverse following the wide genetic diversity. From evaluations of several varieties and inbred lines with high tolerance to P deficiency that has been obtained, sorghum tolerance strategies to low P conditions are: (1) increase root size (length, diameter, and volume), and root proteoid on several genotypes, (2) increase secretion of oxalic acid, particularly in tolerant genotypes, the secretion of which are higher when Al3+ is present, (3) higher P-use efficiency (PUE), eventhough the specific absorption ratio (SAR) was lower than the sensitive ones. The high PUE is thought to contribute to higher grain weight compared to sensitive genotypes under P starvation condition, and (4) higher stay green percentage, which has a high correlation to grain weight/plant. Such strategies should be considered in precission breeding program of sorghum to P deficiency.
