Abstract

This study addresses the limited availability of automated recognition systems for Arabic Alphabet Sign Language (ArSL), particularly in facilitating Qur’anic Tadarus for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. While research on American and Indonesian sign languages has advanced significantly, ArSL studies, especially for static alphabet gestures, remain underrepresented. The aim of this research is to develop an accurate and efficient ArSL classifier using the VGG16 convolutional neural network with transfer learning. The study employs the publicly available RGB Arabic Alphabets Sign Language Dataset, comprising 7,856 annotated images across 31 Hijaiyah letters, collected under varied backgrounds and lighting conditions. The proposed model integrates pretrained ImageNet weights with a customized classification head, trained through a two-stage fine-tuning process with data augmentation. The model achieves 97.07% test accuracy, performing competitively against a ResNet-18 baseline (98.0%) while offering a simpler architecture suitable for resource-constrained deployments. Evaluation using precision, recall, F1-score, and confusion matrix shows consistently high performance, with minor misclassifications among visually similar letters. This work demonstrates a novel application of VGG16-based deep learning for ArSL recognition, contributing to inclusive religious education and accessibility technologies.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an image detection system capable of identifying manned and unmanned aircraft objects to support air traffic surveillance. The increasing flight activity, both from commercial aircraft and drones, requires a more optimal surveillance system to connect the airspace efficiently. In this study, a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model utilizing the You Only Look Once version 5 (YOLOv5) method is employed to detect and classify objects in real-time from aircraft images. The methodology employed includes collecting aerial image data, labeling the data, and training object detection models using YOLOv5. The dataset used consists of 2,520 images of manned aircraft (warplanes) and 5,422 images of unmanned aircraft (drones). The experimental results demonstrate that the YOLOv5 model achieves high detection accuracy for both manned and unmanned aircraft, with a relatively fast inference time, thereby supporting the development of an effective air traffic surveillance system. This system is expected to be an integral part of a more sophisticated and responsive air traffic surveillance solution.

Abstract

This study proposes an artificial intelligence–based approach for automatic identification of the 17th leaf in oil-palm trees (Elaeis guineensis), which serves as a key physiological indicator for nutrient monitoring. The method integrates YOLOv12 object detection with a spatial-positioning algorithm that estimates leaf order through vertical sorting of detected fronds. A total of 1,250 annotated field images were collected from farmer-recorded videos to train and evaluate the system. The proposed model achieved a mean average precision (mAP@0.5) of 92.4% and an average positional error of 10.6 pixels in locating the 17th leaf. Compared with manual identification that requires 3–5 minutes per tree, the automated system performs the entire process in under 15 seconds, providing over 95% time efficiency improvement. This work demonstrates a novel fusion of real-time deep-learning detection and spatial reasoning for nutrient-focused precision agriculture and establishes a practical foundation for scalable, automated leaf indexing in plantation management.

Abstract

Waste management is essential in preserving nature to be cleaner and more well-maintained. Waste management runs slower than the speed of waste accumulation. One reason is slow waste sorting. This problem can be overcome by building a learning machine that can sort the types of waste. The type of waste often separated in the first sorting is waste based on its type, namely organic and inorganic. The classification model used is the CNN with image processing Morph-HSV color model. The data obtained from Kaggle is collected and processed using Python. The processed image is trained using a CNN classification model. The results of this study are an accuracy of 99.58% and a loss of 1.57%. With this research, it is hoped that it can accelerate waste sorting performance using the most efficient ML based on image processing and its classification model.

Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate evidence of an attack and to restore data after an attacker compromised an Open Journal System (OJS) service on a computer server. The method used in this research is a new approach developed from the Network Forensic Digital Life Cycle (NFDLC) method. This new method, known as KUAD, has several stages for collecting cyber-attack evidence and restoring it after the Gacor attack has occurred. The stages in the KUAD method include initiation, acquisition, execution, mitigation, and disposition. The novelty of this method, compared to the previous one, lies in the inclusion of the mitigation stage, which aims to restore data or documents after an attack. The tool used to detect the attack and find evidence of the attack is Tripwire, whereas the tools used to restore lost data include crontab, which runs backup commands with rsync in four steps. Tripwire can optimally detect attacks by displaying the number of data entries that were added, deleted, or modified. A total of 15,135 files in .docx, .pdf, and .jpg formats, deleted by the attacker, were successfully restored using this backup technique. The success rate of using this technique for post-cyber attack mitigation reached 100%.

Abstract

The acoustics of mosques present significant challenges due to their substantial spatial dimensions, highly reflective surfaces, and intricate architectural designs. These characteristics frequently compromise the clarity of sound, which is imperative for religious activities such as sermons and prayers. Despite global advancements in audio technology, centralized sound systems remain the most common choice in many mosques worldwide. However, this approach frequently results in issues such as uneven sound distribution, acoustic dead zones, and excessive reverberation. These factors significantly impact speech intelligibility and overall listener comfort. To address this critical issue, this study presents a systematic literature review spanning from 2003 to 2025. This research also incorporates an initial empirical survey conducted on 77 mosques in Indonesia to provide real-world validation. The survey results empirically corroborated the theoretical problems, revealing that 65% of respondents considered the sound unclear, and less than 50% expressed satisfaction with the current audio system. In light of these findings, the present paper puts forth an integrated optimization framework centered on speaker zoning. The framework synthesizes insights from acoustic engineering, psychoacoustics, and predictive modeling to create a holistic, data-driven solution. The model outlined herein provides a procedural framework for future research endeavors, emphasizing the utilization of professional acoustic simulation tools to achieve uniform sound distribution and high speech intelligibility. This methodological approach guarantees that the acoustic solutions are not only scientifically valid but also user-centric and relevant to the congregation's needs.
