Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the Economic Evaluation in the Production of Copper Nanoparticles (Cu-Nps) using Rongalite as Reducing Agent, an experimental method carried out in the perspective of engineering and economic evaluation. Technical analysis was performed using simple mass balance analysis, while economic evaluation was carried out using several economic parameters, including PBP, BEP, and CNPV. To support the analysis, all data is taken based on the available online shopping web. All calculations are carried out in ideal conditions for 20 years of production. Economic evaluation is carried out by giving 5 conditions (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%) to the variable price variations in cost, sales, fixed cost, and labor. Economic evaluation analysis results show that price variations can affect the CNPV / TIC (%) curve to Life Time (year). In the variable cost, fixed cost, and labor variable price curve it is found that the condition of 0% is the highest curve compared to other conditions. While in sales price variations, the 80% condition is the highest curve. In conclusion, all price variation curves show profit. The benefits of this research are the large-scale economic evaluation data on Cu nanoparticle production.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of the project to make Magnesium Oxide (MgO) sol gel combustion method by evaluating the engineering and economic aspects. Several economic evaluation parameters are analyzed to inform the potential production of MgO nanoparticles, the length of time required for an investment to recover the total initial expenditure (PBP), project conditions for a production in the form of a production function in years (CNPV), project profits and others. The results showed that the production of MgO nanoparticles was very prospective. Technical analysis to produce 1.38 kg of MgO nanoparticles per day shows the total cost of the equipment purchased was USD 91,542.86. PBP analysis shows that investment profitable after more than 3 years. This project can compete with PBP capital market standards because the investment will return in a short time. To ensure the feasibility of the project, the project is estimated from the ideal conditions to the worst cases in production, including labor, sales, raw materials, utilities, and external conditions (e.g. tax).

Abstract

The economic evaluation is one of the key points in building chemical industries. This paper presented a preliminary economic evaluation of the large scale production of zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles using the sol-gel method, which is very useful for helping decision whether the fabrication of this material profitable or not. Particularly, the study was done by changing the cost of raw material, which was compared to several economic parameters such as GPM, PBP, and CNPV. The result showed that the project was profitable by increasing raw material cost below 100% from the estimated raw material cost, informing the fact for the prospective fabrication for fulfilling the demand of ZnO nanoparticles.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate influences of temperature on the conversion of ammonium tungstate pentahydrate (ATP) powder to tungsten trioxide (WO3) particles with controllable sizes, crystallinities, and physicochemical properties. In this study, we used a simple thermal decomposition method. In the experimental procedure, we explored the effect of temperature on the physicochemical properties of ATP by testing various heating temperatures (from 100 to 900 °C). The heated ATP samples were then characterized by a physical observation (i.e. color) and various analysis methods (i.e. a thermal gravimetric and differential thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy, an X-ray diffraction, and a scanning electron microscope). Experimental results showed that increases in temperature had an impact to the decreases in particle size, the change in material crystallinity, and the change in physical properties (e.g. change of color from white, orange, to yellowish green). The relationships between the reaction temperatures and the physicochemical properties of the ATP were also investigated in detail along with the theoretical consideration and the proposal of the WO3 particle formation mechanism. In simplification, the phenomena can be described into three zones of temperatures. (1) Below 250 °C (release of water molecules and some ammonium ions).; (2) At 250-400 °C (release of water molecules and ammonium ions, restructurization of tungsten and oxygen elements, and formation of amorphous tungsten trioxide). (3) At higher than 400 °C (crystallization of tungsten trioxide). Since ATP possessed reactivity on temperature, its physicochemical properties changing could be observed easily, and the experimental procedure could be done easily. The present study will benefit not only for “chemistry and material science” but also potentially to be used as a model material for explaining the thermal behavior of material to undergraduate students (suitable used for a class and laboratory experiment and demonstration).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to conduct a literature review to determine the understanding of current research on the use of Cassava Peel (CP) in the field of wastewater treatment, especially as a coagulant. This study reports on the types of coagulant modification of CP, coagulants characterization of CP for each modification, coagulants performance of CP under various conditions, and various applications of CP coagulant for wastewater treatment. This literature study takes references from 51 articles from the period 2011-2022. We mapped each article used and visualized it using the VOS viewer to find out the relationship between topics and absorption capacity in terms of article titles and keywords. From the results of a literature review study, CP is an attractive option and has the potential to be used as a natural coagulant or adsorbent to remove pollutants (such as dyes and turbidity) in wastewater treatment. The results of this study are expected to provide benefits and ideas for utilizing agricultural waste such as CP to become an economically efficient material. Abstract

A vocational school is a secondary education institution that prepares students to work in their fields of study. The goal of this study was to combine mapping analysis with VOSviewer software to conduct bibliometric engineering research at a vocational school. VOSviewer and Publish or Perish were the applications used in this study. "Vocational School" is the research's keyword. Based on the findings of a search of 990 relevant articles published between 2017 and 2021. According to the findings, research on vocational schools decreased from 2017 to 2020 before increasing in 2021. The importance of bibliometric analysis in providing data analysis about what phenomena occur is demonstrated in this study. It is hoped that this research will assist and serve as a reference for researchers in conducting and determining the research theme to be pursued.

Abstract

Reading is fundamental for someone to get other abilities. However, there are still areas in Indonesia that are still lacking in reading. The purpose of the core research is to provide literacy learning innovations in 5th grade elementary school. carried out during the pandemic with an online learning system. Students are given learning with sticky notes, where sticky notes are used as the medium. Sticky notes contain questions that must be matched with other sticky notes based on the same color. From the description above, we use this approach to test the literature and theory to suit the circumstances of the location we are researching. This is why we use a quantitative approach. The quantitative approach in this study is to find out the extent to which the implementation of learning with Sticky Notes in increasing the reading interest of grade 5 students towards textbooks during the covid-19 pandemic. This approach emphasizes more on finding data to be processed systematically and using mathematical calculations. From the results of the study, students got an increase of 18% from the results of the pre-test. This is in line with the results of previous research and the method was successfully used for learning.

Abstract

Shell and tube heat exchangers are one of the most widely used types of heat exchangers in industry. The low cost of manufacture and use is one of the reasons this heat exchanger is widely used. The purpose of this research is to design a shell and tube heat exchanger (two-pass) type for application in the production of magnetite particles on an industrial scale. To design a heat exchanger, the method used is mathematical calculations using more than 20 equations that are used which are derived based on the influence of dimensional and fluid specifications. In the production of magnetite particles, two heat exchangers are used, namely the reaction process and the crystallization process. The results of this study indicate the effectiveness of the two heat exchangers designed to have a high enough value and exceed 70%. This high effectiveness value indicates that both heat exchangers have good performance. Therefore, this design has the potential to be applied to the magnetite particle synthesis process on an industrial scale.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to show a step-by-step process for publishing journal articles using the Quick Submit Plugin in the Open Journal System (OJS) 2.0. The method used in this study is to practice directly step by step publishing articles using the Quick Submit Plugin and conducting a literature review of existing works. An example of a journal used in the quick submit practice process is the Journal of Assessment and Intervention of Children with Special Needs (JASSI Anakku). We found that publishing journal articles can use one of the plugins in OJS 2.0 namely Quick Submit Plugin. With the completion of this research, it is hoped that it can help journal managers in submitting articles through the Quick Submit Plugin in OJS 2.0.

Abstract

Special needs education is a field of study that focuses on providing educational services to children with special needs who have learning and developmental challenges. The goal of this research is to combine mapping analysis with the VOSviewer app. The Publish or Perish application is used to find publications that are relevant to the keywords that have been entered. The term "Special Needs Education" was utilized in this study as a keyword. According to the search results, 400 relevant articles were published between 2017 and 2021. The number of publications published on "Special Needs Education" has declined every year, according to the research findings. This study should aid researchers in conducting and determining the research theme.
