Abstract

This research aims to determine the growth of goldfish fry treated with Moringa leaf flour in feed at different doses. The method used in this research was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments with 3 replications. In each treatment, doses of Moringa leaf flour were given P1=0% (control), P2=25%, P3=50%, and P4=75%. The results of this treatment had a significant effect on absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, and feed conversion. Meanwhile, the daily growth rate and survival rate had no effect. The highest daily growth rate was in P4 (75%) with a yield of 1.09%, while the lowest treatment was P2 (25%) and P3 (50%) with a yield of 0.97%. The highest absolute weight growth was in P4 (75%) with a yield of 1.29 g, while the lowest treatment was P1 (0%) and P2 (25%) with a yield of 1.06 g. The highest absolute length growth was in P4 (75%) with a result of 1.12 cm, while the lowest treatment result was P1 (0) with a result of 0.84 cm. The best feed conversion ratio at P4 (75%) with a yield of 1.59% was the best treatment among the other treatments. From the results of adding Moringa leaf flour at different doses to the feed, the higher the dose of Moringa leaf flour given, the resulting growth is in the better category. The results of the best survival were in the P4 treatment (75%) with a result of 96.66, which was the best treatment among the other treatments.

Abstract

The cultivation of dumbo catfish (Clarias gariepinus) has great potential to be a profitable business as long as farmers can overcome obstacles such as odors in ponds and fish. Maintenance ponds that are not paid enough attention to make the aroma of the resulting dumbo catfish slime stronger. In overcoming this problem, we need a material that can reduce the odor in dumbo catfish. One natural ingredient that can improve water quality and reduce odor in catfish is by mixing chitosan in the feed. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of chitosan in removing odors and to determine the best dose of chitosan for eliminating odors in dumbo catfish. This study used an experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatments used were (P0 = without chitosan; P1 = 2% chitosan; P2 = 4% chitosan; P3 = 6% chitosan, with 3 repetitions for each treatment). Parameters observed included organoleptic tests including aroma, texture, and taste to determine the effect of chitosan on dumbo catfish meat. The results of the study showed that the addition of chitosan to feed had a significant effect on eliminating odors in the organoleptic (aroma, texture, taste) of African catfish. The best dose of chitosan to remove odor in dumbo catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is at P2 (dose 4%) and P3 (6%).

Abstract

Milkfish (Chanos chanos) is one of the main aquaculture commodity species and has an important market value.  The rapid development of milkfish cultivation is due to the good performance and growth rate of milkfish.  In line with the large number of enthusiasts for fish farming, there are also a number of disturbing problems, thus hindering the development of aquaculture businesses, one of which is infectious diseases caused by parasites.  Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify and determine the prevalence rate of ectoparasites in milkfish (Chanos chanos) in Gampong Bayeun ponds, East Aceh.  Sampling was carried out at the Gampong Bayeun pond, East Aceh from 29 August to 9 September 2022 with a total of 90 milkfish samples.  Sampling was carried out 9 times.  Sampling was carried out when the fish were 2 months old.  Identification of ectoparasites was carried out at the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Samudra University.  The results of this study found three types of ectoparasites that infect milkfish, namely Trichodina sp., (30%), Unitubulotestis sp.  (17.8), Dactylogyrus sp., (15.6%).  The most common type of parasite found was Trichodina sp., which was found in 278 parasites in milkfish.

Abstract

Depik fish is a fish which is one of the endemic species in Lake Laut Tawar, Central Aceh Regency. Typical fish of the Gayo community which is currently being developed for domestication. However, from the results of several studies, the growth of depik fish is relatively slow, so it needs to be increased. One way to accelerate the growth of depik fish is by hormonal induction, through immersion in the hormone thyroxine with different doses. The aim of this research is to evaluate the growth performance and survival of depik fish soaked in thyroxine hormone with different doses of thyroxine hormone. This research was carried out at the Lukup Badak Fish Seed Center (BBI), Central Aceh using a completely randomized design (CRD) experimental method with four treatments and three repetitions. The treatments in this research were different durations of immersion in the thyroxine hormone, namely: no dose (P0), 0.05 mg/ liter (P1), 0.1 mg/ liter (P2), and 0.15 mg/ liter (P3). Meanwhile, the duration of the thyroxine hormone soaking used is 24 hours. Rearing of fish seeds is carried out using an Aquarium measuring 30 cm long, 20 cm wide and 25 cm high according to the treatment, for 28 days with a stocking density of 20 fish/container. This study concluded that different doses of the thyroxine hormone in Depik fish fry gave the highest growth in the treatment dose of 0.15 mg/liter, while the lowest growth was in the control treatment (no dose).

Abstract

Freshwater lobster (C. quadricarinatus) is a commodity that lives in lakes, swamps, and rivers. Currently, freshwater lobsters are in great demand both for consumption and for aquarium aesthetics. This research is to increase the growth and survival of freshwater crayfish by using the method of different doses of glutamine in commercial feed. The research design carried out was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). consisting of 4 treatments with 3 repetitions. During the 35 day rearing period, research showed significant differences between each treatment in absolute weight growth, absolute length, weight growth percentage, daily growth rate, and survival of Freshwater Lobster (C. quadricarinatus). The use of glutamine in commercial feed shows that the best results in glutamine dosage for the growth of Freshwater Lobster (C.quadricarinatus) were found in the V2 treatment with a dose of 2% ml and the lowest in the control V0 treatment. This study recommends the use of glutamine in commercial feed to increase the growth and survival of freshwater lobsters (C. quadricarinatus)

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the survival rate and oxygen consumption level of gourami fry with different stocking densities. The method used in this study was an experimental method with 4 treatments repeated 3 times. Each treatment was given a clove oil anesthetic dose of 0.05 ml/L. Treatment P1=20 head/L, P2=25 head/L, P3=30 head/L, and P4=35 head/L. The results of this treatment have a significant effect on the survival of gourami seeds and the level of oxygen consumption of gourami seeds. The highest survival rate for gourami fish seeds was in the P4=35 fish/L treatment with a value of 76%, then continued with the P3=30 fish/L treatment with a total value of 73%, and the P1=20 fish/L treatment with a total value of 48%. Meanwhile, P2=25 fish/L obtained the lowest survival value, namely 44%. The highest level of oxygen consumption (TKO) was obtained in the P4=35 head/L treatment, namely 1.13, while the lowest value was obtained in the P2=25 head/L treatment with a total value of 0.77. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the best stocking density for gourami fish seeds with closed wet transportation treatment given clove oil anesthesia is 35 fish/L because it obtains a high survival value.
