Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology and social media has significantly shifted the lifestyle of young adults, often pushing them toward hedonism and consumptive behavior. This study aims to determine the effect of a hedonistic lifestyle on the consumptive behavior of sixth-semester Economics Study Program students at Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. The research addresses a critical gap regarding how students with formal economic education still fall into irrational consumption patterns. This quantitative research used an explanatory approach. From a total population of 52 students, 50 valid responses were collected using a total sampling technique adjusted for data validity. Data were gathered through a modified Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS. The results showed that the hedonistic lifestyle has a very strong and significant positive effect on consumptive behavior, evidenced by a t-count of 16.331 (greater than the t-table of 1.676) and a significance value of 0.000. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination (R-square) reached 0.847, indicating that 84.7% of the variation in student consumptive behavior is driven by hedonistic lifestyle choices. This emphasizes the urgent need for practical financial literacy interventions on campus.

Abstract

The development of Financial Technology (FinTech) has transformed how individuals obtain information, access financial services, and engage in investment activities. The convenience offered by these technologies needs to be supported by adequate investment knowledge and the ability to assess risks to facilitate rational investment decisions. This study aims to examine the effects of investment literacy and risk perception on investment decisions and to investigate the role of FinTech in strengthening these relationships. The study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to individuals with investment experience and analyzed using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that investment literacy, risk perception, and FinTech utilization have positive and significant effects on investment decisions. Investment literacy emerges as the strongest factor influencing investment decisions. In addition to its direct effect, FinTech serves as a moderator that strengthens the relationships between investment literacy and investment decisions and between risk perception and investment decisions. These findings highlight that better investment decisions can be fostered by enhancing investment knowledge, improving risk awareness, and utilizing FinTech services appropriately. This study provides practical implications for investors and digital financial service providers in promoting more informed, rational, and adaptive investment decision-making in response to technological developments.

Abstract

"Pahangga Tupa" is currently the only active palm sugar producer in Tupa Village, North Bulango District, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province. The business faces several challenges, including traditional production methods, inconsistent product quality, a lack of value-added derivative products, weak business management, and limited marketing reach. This community service program aims to enhance production capacity, product quality, and business competitiveness through the application of appropriate technology, training, and business mentoring. Activities included outreach, training, and mentoring on the implementation of standardized production technologies such as the use of food-grade digital thermometers and pH meters as well as innovations in packaging and digital marketing. Additionally, the partner received training in business management, basic financial record-keeping, and the use of digital media and online marketplaces for marketing. The outcomes of this initiative include increased production efficiency and capacity, more consistent palm sugar quality, attractive packaging and product branding, and expanded market reach. The program has successfully enhanced the partner's competitiveness in the palm sugar business. Furthermore, it is expected to foster business independence and sustainability while continuously improving the partner's economic well-being.
