Abstract

Sludge is a suspension of liquid waste and microorganisms originating from the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The humus and nutrient content of sewage sludges can be used as compost by the vermicomposting mechanism. This study aims to determine the potential of sewage sludge in the Integrated Laboratory of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung as a raw material for making organic fertilizer through vermicomposting by utilizing the earthworm Eisenia fetida. The media containing a mixture of cow dung (CD) and sludge (S) was divided into four treatments consisting of Control (100% CD), P1 (75% CD + 25% S), P2 (50% CD + 50% S), and P3 (25% CD + 75% S) with the weight of each medium is 500 grams. A total of 20 adult earthworms (5-6 grams/20 heads) were added to each treatment medium for the vermicompost process for 8 weeks. The results showed that the composition of the media in treatment P1 showed the highest effect on the quality of vermicompost with percentages of C (42.62), N (1.85), P (1.21), and K (0.26) based on the SNI 7763-2018 standard. The conclusion of this study is that the sewage sludges from the Integrated Laboratory of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung can be used as raw material for making organic fertilizer with an optimum media composition of 75% CD + 25% S.

Abstract

The understorey is one type of tropical forest vegetation that contributes to the complexity of the forest structure. The habitat of the understorey is closely related to the condition of the vegetation. This study aims to determine the structure and composition of the understorey to support the ecological function and habitat in the Malagembol Block, Mount Tilu Nature Reserve. The sample collection was carried out using the sample plot method. A total of three main plots measuring 10×100 m2 were divided into ten subplots with a size of 5×5 m2. The understorey observed included herbaceous plants and saplings with a height of less than 1 m. The data analysis included the calculation of frequency, density, individual dominance, and significant value index using heterogeneity index (Shannon-Wiener), richness index (Margalef), and evenness index. A total of 186 species and 66 understorey families were recorded in the observation plots. Based on their stature, they were grouped into 26 species of climbing plants, 43 species of herbaceous plants, and 116 species of saplings. The species richness was high and more diverse. In addition, the species found were evenly distributed in each observation plot and the plant community was relatively stable. The Mount Tilu Nature Reserve has an important contribution of understorey plants in compiling the ecosystem so that it becomes a further consideration for the management of the area around Mount Tilu Nature Reserve.

Abstract

Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 33 Year 2014 on Halal Product Warranty (JPH)  mandates the Government that the product circulating in Indonesia is guaranteed halal by the Halal Product Security Organizing Body (BPJPH). Public participation is required in halal product socialization and monitoring. Socialization and  education constitute an important task of education institution including madrasah. It is necessary for madrasah as a formal educational institution with Islamic characteristics to enhance its role in disseminating halal product so that students have better awareness on the importance of halal thayyiban products. The socialization and education of halal products will contribute to achieve one of the national educational goals in developing learners’ potentials so that they become the people imbued with human values who are faithful and pious to one and only God; who possess morals and noble character; who are healthy, knowledgeable, competent, creative, independent; and as citizens, are democratic and responsible. To meet the goal, madrasah must respond and play an active role in solving the problems that occur in community, one of   which is related to halal product issue. This study is intended to analyze the significance of implementing Halal Education in madrasah. This research applies literature study method. The research findings show that the issue of halal product does not have an adequate portion in Fiqh curriculum. The study of halal product in the curriculum is limited in doctrinaire perspective. The important issues on basic commodity, additives, production process, warehousing packing and halal product distribution need to be conveyed in madrasah education, considering that processed food for children in Indonesia is really complex and require a multi-disciplinary study

Abstract

The majority of Indonesia's population is Muslim. A good Muslim is a Muslim who follows everything ordered by Allah SWT and leaves all the prohibitions of Allah SWT. One of them is by consuming halal products. The application of halal literacy in education is very influential in improving the quality of faith in Allah SWT and increasing knowledge about halal literacy and making decisions regarding the selection of halal products. Halal literacy can be applied to science material, one of which is about the human digestive system. In addition to halal literacy, higher-order thinking skills are needed in the 21st century. This study aims to determine how halal literacy and higher-order thinking skills in matters of the human digestive system affect consumer decisions about halal products. This study used a quantitative approach involving 31 students from class XI IPS 1 MAN 1 Garut. There are two independent variables in this study, namely halal literacy and higher-order thinking skills, and the dependent variable, namely decision making about halal products. Questionnaires and multiple choice questions were given to students to find out the variables to be studied. By using multiple regression statistics, the results show that there is a relationship between halal literacy and making decisions on halal products, but with higher-level thinking skills there is no relationship with making decisions on halal products. Meanwhile, together between halal literacy and higher order thinking skills there is a relationship with making halal product decisions, namely 51.2% to be precise. Other factors influence 48.8%.
