Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of STEM-integrated PBL learning tools based on local wisdom (Gendang Melayu) on students' critical thinking skills and compare the improvement in critical thinking abilities between classes that implemented these tools and those that did not. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a Non-Equivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design among 11th-grade students at SMA Adhyaksa I Jambi. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in students' critical thinking skills through the implementation of integrated STEM PBL learning devices based on local wisdom (Gendang Melayu) on sound wave material at SMA Adhyaksa I Jambi in the experimental class with a sig value (2 tailed) of 0.000 on critical thinking skills questions. Furthermore, there was a significant difference in the increase in students' critical thinking skills between classes that received the implementation of integrated STEM PBL learning devices based on local wisdom (Gendang Melayu) and classes that did not, with a Sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.001 on critical thinking skills questions. This research offers a unique contribution by merging PBL and STEM with the cultural heritage of Gendang Melayu Jambi in physics learning, strengthening the link between scientific knowledge and local culture.

Abstract

The implementation of the Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile (P5) projects requires learning resources that are easy to adopt, engaging, and supportive of authentic assessment; however, in practice there are still constraints related to teachers’ ICT literacy, software availability, and the scarcity of ready-to-replicate examples. This training addressed these issues through an integrated package—guidelines and templates for Flip PDF Professional, access to MATLAB/software, and an online mentoring forum—with the following objectives: to train teachers to design digital learning materials using Flip PDF integrated with MATLAB for P5 projects; to enhance teachers’ understanding of technology use in strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile; and to help teachers produce interactive, data-driven, problem-solving-oriented learning resources. The program involved 14 teachers and proceeded in five stages: preparation–agreement, needs identification, Technical Training I (Flip PDF), Technical Training II (MATLAB & P5 integration), and formative–summative evaluation. All participants produced P5 flipbook prototypes featuring multimedia, clear navigation, and reflection pages; most embedded charts/tables generated in MATLAB. Likert-scale questionnaire results indicated positive perceptions (mean 4.40; Cronbach’s α = 0.864), with strengths in facilitation & outputs (4.64), P5 relevance (4.57), sustainability (4.50), and Flip PDF ease of use (4.43). The area requiring further strengthening was MATLAB integration (3.86), which was followed up through technical clinics, dataset templates, and guidance on numeric locale settings. These findings confirm the effectiveness and replicability of this training model in P5 contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and examine the feasibility of a student worksheet for teaching electric circuits based on the Arakan Sahur miniature integrated with the STEM approach. The research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), limited to the Develop stage. The subjects involved two expert validators, one physics teacher, and 12 Grade XII students of SMAN 9 Kota Jambi in a limited trial. Data were collected through interviews and questionnaires, including expert validation sheets and practitioner and student response questionnaires, and analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques with a Likert scale and percentage calculations. The validation results showed that the student worksheet achieved a very good category in both material and media aspects after revision. Student responses indicated very high levels of attractiveness, while practitioner responses reached a very good category in all assessed aspects. The integration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through the local cultural context of Arakan Sahur contributes to making electric circuit learning more contextual, meaningful, and capable of enhancing students’ conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills in physics education.

Abstract

The integration of local wisdom in physics learning remains limited, and no module simultaneously combining the Arakan Sahur tradition, robotics technology, and the STEM approach has yet been developed. This study aimed to develop a straight-motion learning module using robotics based on Arakan Sahur miniatures integrated with STEM and to analyze its feasibility in terms of content quality, presentation, usability, and implementation in learning activities. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg and Gall model limited to five stages. Data were collected through material expert validation questionnaires, media expert validation questionnaires, teacher perception questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and interviews. The feasibility indicators included material relevance, language clarity, content presentation, STEM integration, self-instructional characteristics, stand-alone usability, and user-friendliness of the module. The results showed that material expert validation achieved an average score of 3.47 (very good), while media expert validation reached 3.50 (very good) after two rounds of revision. Teacher perceptions obtained an average score of 3.44 (very good), and responses from 22 students reached 3.55 (very good). The module also demonstrated explicit implementation of the four STEM components through robotics programming, motion analysis, engineering design, and mathematical calculations. In addition, 95.5% of students showed high interest in learning physics using robotics-based activities. In conclusion, the developed module is considered valid and practical for use in high school physics learning and contributes as an innovative teaching material integrating physics concepts, local culture, robotics, and STEM learning.
