Abstract

Rational antibiotic use is essential to prevent and treat infections effectively and to avoid harmful consequences such as antimicrobial resistance, increased adverse drug reactions, and higher treatment costs. This study aims to assess the level of knowledge and attitudes toward rational antibiotic use among residents of Kampung Baru Hamlet, Seko District. A descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted involving 100 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. The study found that knowledge regarding antibiotic use was categorized as good in 7% of respondents, moderate in 20%, and poor in 73%. Attitudes toward proper antibiotic use were categorized as good in 7%, moderate in 10%, and poor in 83% of respondents. Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes toward antibiotic use (p = 0.001). These findings indicate that most of the community lacks adequate knowledge and appropriate attitudes regarding rational antibiotic use, highlighting the need for targeted health education programs to promote safer and more effective antibiotic practices

Abstract

Coffee liberica is an economically important yet under-researched coffee species in Indonesia. This study evaluated the individual and combined effects of Starbo-AFE compost and volcanic ash on vegetative growth and physiological performance of C. liberica in Jambi, Indonesia. A two-factor factorial experiment arranged in a randomized complete block design tested three compost rates (0, 250, and 500 g plant⁻¹) and three volcanic ash rates (0, 250, and 500 g plant⁻¹) with three replications. Measured variables included leaf area, primary branch diameter, number of fruiting branches, chlorophyll content, and soil chemical properties. Starbo-AFE compost significantly increased leaf area and branch diameter (p < 0.05), with the highest values at 500 g plant⁻¹, increasing by 54.6% and 17.5%, respectively, compared with the control. Volcanic ash alone showed no short-term effect; however, its combination with compost resulted in the highest chlorophyll content, indicating a synergistic response. Compost improved soil total N and organic carbon, while volcanic ash enhanced potassium availability and potential pH buffering. Overall, applying 500 g Starbo-AFE compost per plant effectively promotes early vegetative growth of C. liberica on peat soils, with volcanic ash contributing to longer-term soil fertility improvement.

Abstract

The double hurigi kick, as a complex taekwondo technique, requires explosive power and dynamic balance, but is often difficult for adolescent athletes to perform. This study aims to analyze and compare the effectiveness of resistance band and balance board training on improving double hurigi kicking ability. Using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest two-group design, the sample consisted of 20 Warrior Taekwondo athletes aged 13-17 years who were divided into two groups. The intervention was conducted for 8 weeks with a frequency of 3 times per week, and the research instrument was a dwi hurigi kick accuracy test within 30 seconds. The data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test and an independent sample t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in both groups. The resistance band group experienced an average increase of 3.40 points (Cohen's d = 4.86), while the balance board group increased by 2.00 points (Cohen's d = 3.00). Intergroup comparison analysis showed a significant difference (p = 0.029) with resistance band training having the advantage. Discussion revealed that resistance bands were more effective because they specifically increased the rate of force development and optimized the stretch-shortening cycle, which is essential for explosive kicks. It was concluded that although both were effective, resistance band training was significantly superior in improving double kick performance in adolescent taekwondo athletes.

Abstract

This study aims to assess and compare the digital readiness of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) located in the border regions of Bengkalis, Indonesia, and Muar, Malaysia, as they confront the accelerating demands of Industry 4.0. The objectives are to identify the level of technological adoption, evaluate the enabling and inhibiting factors for digital transformation, and determine the role of local ecosystems in supporting SME digitalization in these two geographically connected but administratively distinct areas. Despite growing interest in digital economy initiatives across Southeast Asia, border-area SMEs remain under-researched, especially in terms of their preparedness for digital competition and cross-border market integration. A quantitative comparative approach was employed using structured questionnaires distributed to 100 SMEs, equally divided between Bengkalis and Muar. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, and correlation analyses to highlight readiness gaps and similarities across key dimensions such as infrastructure, skills, organizational strategy, and external support systems. This research is significant for policymakers, development agencies, and academic communities interested in narrowing the digital divide and strengthening cross-border SME ecosystems. The findings are expected to contribute to the formulation of targeted interventions, particularly through Penta-helix collaboration involving government, academia, private sector, media, and communities, to boost SME competitiveness and sustainability in border regions. The study underscores the need for localized digital strategies that recognize socio-economic and cultural differences across national boundaries.

Abstract

This study analyzes Batusangkar Religious Court Decision No. 129/Pdt.P/2024/PA-Bsk, which simultaneously rejected a request for marriage confirmation (isbat nikah) but granted a request to determine the child's status as legitimate. This case is interesting because it reflects the tension between the principle of legal certainty of marriage and the protection of children's rights in religious court practice in Indonesia. This study used a qualitative, analytical, and descriptive approach with field research methods. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with the three judges who heard the case and the applicants. In addition, the researcher analyzed the decision documents and case files. Secondary data came from the Marriage Law, the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), Constitutional Court Decision No. 46/PUU-VII/2010, literature on munakahat fiqh (jurisprudence), and the concept of maqashid sharia. The results indicate that the panel of judges rejected the marriage confirmation request because the applicants' marriage violated the provisions prohibiting marriage as stipulated in Article 40 (a) of the KHI in conjunction with Article 9 of Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage. One of the parties is still bound by a previous marriage, potentially leading to the practice of polyandry and undermining the sanctity of the institution of marriage. Nevertheless, the judge granted the child's status as legitimate, primarily considering the child's best interests and the principle of welfare (maslahah). The judge argued that the child should not be held responsible for the parents' mistakes. This granting of the child's status provides legal certainty for the child to obtain a birth certificate, family card, rights to maintenance, guardianship, and inheritance rights. This decision represents a harmony between positive legal certainty and the maqasid sharia, particularly hifz al-nasl (protection of offspring). This study concludes that the judge applied a progressive and humane approach in resolving the conflict between the validity of the marriage and the protection of children's rights.
