Abstract

Introduction: Over Capacity: Correctional institutions continue to be a deeply rooted issue in Indonesia's criminal justice system. This poses a challenge for officers in fulfilling basic rights, especially for vulnerable groups such as women. In addition, the mechanisms for handling women who come into conflict with the law remain susceptible to gender injustice, particularly in terms of fulfilling basic rights such as rehabilitation, facilities and infrastructure, as well as access to what is entitled to inmates.Purposes of The Devotion: This legal counseling aims to increase understanding regarding the mechanisms for handling women in conflict with the law at the Class II A Pontianak Women's Correctional Institution.Method of The Devotion: Legal counseling activities are conducted using a lecture method to deliver material, followed by a question-and-answer session between inmates and the presenter. Observations are conducted for evaluation and monitoring after the counseling session. Results Main Findings of the Devotion: The results of this study indicate that the mechanism for handling Women in Conflict with the Law in relation to legal aid is still not optimal due to the lack of socialization and limited access to obtain it. Therefore, this study is expected to contribute as an effort to increase the understanding of officers and inmates about the handling mechanism related to legal aid for inmates by offering access to legal aid through the Legal Aid Institute at the Faculty of Law, Tanjungpura University.

Abstract

Coffee liberica is an economically important yet under-researched coffee species in Indonesia. This study evaluated the individual and combined effects of Starbo-AFE compost and volcanic ash on vegetative growth and physiological performance of C. liberica in Jambi, Indonesia. A two-factor factorial experiment arranged in a randomized complete block design tested three compost rates (0, 250, and 500 g plant⁻¹) and three volcanic ash rates (0, 250, and 500 g plant⁻¹) with three replications. Measured variables included leaf area, primary branch diameter, number of fruiting branches, chlorophyll content, and soil chemical properties. Starbo-AFE compost significantly increased leaf area and branch diameter (p < 0.05), with the highest values at 500 g plant⁻¹, increasing by 54.6% and 17.5%, respectively, compared with the control. Volcanic ash alone showed no short-term effect; however, its combination with compost resulted in the highest chlorophyll content, indicating a synergistic response. Compost improved soil total N and organic carbon, while volcanic ash enhanced potassium availability and potential pH buffering. Overall, applying 500 g Starbo-AFE compost per plant effectively promotes early vegetative growth of C. liberica on peat soils, with volcanic ash contributing to longer-term soil fertility improvement.

Abstract

The double hurigi kick, as a complex taekwondo technique, requires explosive power and dynamic balance, but is often difficult for adolescent athletes to perform. This study aims to analyze and compare the effectiveness of resistance band and balance board training on improving double hurigi kicking ability. Using a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest two-group design, the sample consisted of 20 Warrior Taekwondo athletes aged 13-17 years who were divided into two groups. The intervention was conducted for 8 weeks with a frequency of 3 times per week, and the research instrument was a dwi hurigi kick accuracy test within 30 seconds. The data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test and an independent sample t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in both groups. The resistance band group experienced an average increase of 3.40 points (Cohen's d = 4.86), while the balance board group increased by 2.00 points (Cohen's d = 3.00). Intergroup comparison analysis showed a significant difference (p = 0.029) with resistance band training having the advantage. Discussion revealed that resistance bands were more effective because they specifically increased the rate of force development and optimized the stretch-shortening cycle, which is essential for explosive kicks. It was concluded that although both were effective, resistance band training was significantly superior in improving double kick performance in adolescent taekwondo athletes.

Abstract

This study aims to assess and compare the digital readiness of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) located in the border regions of Bengkalis, Indonesia, and Muar, Malaysia, as they confront the accelerating demands of Industry 4.0. The objectives are to identify the level of technological adoption, evaluate the enabling and inhibiting factors for digital transformation, and determine the role of local ecosystems in supporting SME digitalization in these two geographically connected but administratively distinct areas. Despite growing interest in digital economy initiatives across Southeast Asia, border-area SMEs remain under-researched, especially in terms of their preparedness for digital competition and cross-border market integration. A quantitative comparative approach was employed using structured questionnaires distributed to 100 SMEs, equally divided between Bengkalis and Muar. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, and correlation analyses to highlight readiness gaps and similarities across key dimensions such as infrastructure, skills, organizational strategy, and external support systems. This research is significant for policymakers, development agencies, and academic communities interested in narrowing the digital divide and strengthening cross-border SME ecosystems. The findings are expected to contribute to the formulation of targeted interventions, particularly through Penta-helix collaboration involving government, academia, private sector, media, and communities, to boost SME competitiveness and sustainability in border regions. The study underscores the need for localized digital strategies that recognize socio-economic and cultural differences across national boundaries.
