Abstract

In the covid-19 pandemic, teaching and learning activities was conducted online. Thus, we need an application that can support distance learning, including the practicum process in the laboratory. Virtual laboratory is considered to be the main solution in replacing the learning process in the laboratory. However, by utilizing virtual laboratory in the learning process did not necessarily hone students' practical skills. Therefore, we aimed to develop and to explore the validity and reliability of Student responses questionnaire towards the virtual laboratories during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research was research and development adopting the 4D model. This research involved 2 evaluation experts and 63 students of chemistry department of UNY selected based on purposive sampling technique. The research instruments were content validation sheets for experts and developed questionnaires for construct validation. The data were analyzed with descriptive qualitative technique to describe product development process data, Aikens' V analysis to analyze content validity data, Exploratory Factor Analysis to analyze construct validity data, and Cronbach Alpha analysis to analyze questionnaire reliability using SPSS 20. The results revealed that the student response questionnaire towards virtual laboratory has been successfully developed using the 4D model consisting of 11 statements. All statements in the questionnaire were proved valid based on construct validity and reliable. From the findings, the student response questionnaire is ready to be used for further research related to student responses to learning media.

Abstract

General Chemistry I is a compulsory subject taken by preservice science teachers where concept mastery of the subject can be explored through an essay test. The purpose of this study was to describe the psychometric characteristics of the General Chemistry I essay test using the Andrich Rating Scale Model by the Winsteps program. The research was conducted in the Odd Semester of the 2022/2023 Academic Year involving 46 students who were selected through a cluster random sampling technique. Although the results of the psychometric analysis showed that the rating scale had not functioned as it should, the General Chemistry I essay test instrument proves to have good (unidimensional) construct validity with all items in the category of moderate difficulty level. This research at the same time proves that it is not easy to make and define categories in an essay test. The use of the Andrich Rating Scale Model provides very useful information for describing and improving the psychometric quality of essay tests on measuring the General Chemistry I ability of preservice science teachers.

Abstract

Dementia is one of the scourges that must be faced in old age. Dementia prevention can start early, namely during the pre-elderly period. This service is carried out to help pre-elderly in the Kelurahan Mantrijeron prepare themselves to become healthy, independent, and productive elderly people through jumputan training with the tie and dip technique. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of surveys, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out descriptively both qualitatively and quantitatively to get a complete picture of the response from the participants to the training that had been carried out. In general, the results of the training evaluation show that the participants gave a positive response where all the indicators measured were in the very good category.

Abstract

Kerupuk adalah salah satu pelengkap makanan favorit di Indonesia selain sambal. Untuk meningkatkan tekstur padat, menjaga kerenyahan, dan meningkatkan daya simpan kerupuk, produsen kerupuk seringkali menggunakan boraks. Padahal boraks dalam peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia dinyatakan sebagai bahan berbahaya dan beracun, dan dilarang untuk digunakan dalam pembuatan makanan. Oleh sebab itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kandungan boraks pada sampel kerupuk yang beredar di Kecamatan Gunungpati Semarang menggunakan ekstrak bunga telang. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis kualitatif dengan melihat perubahan warna larutan. Hasil uji menunjukkan jika semua sampel kerupuk positif mengandung boraks yang ditunjukkan adanya perubahan larutan bunga telang dan sampel yang awalnya berwarna biru menjadi hijau. Hal ini menandakan bahwa kerupuk tersebut tidak layak untuk dikonsumsi karena boraks bersifat toksik bagi tubuh sehingga akan menimbulkan efek negatif seperti muntah, diare, pusing, kerusakan organ tubuh, bahkan mengakibatkan kematian.

Abstract

This service activity was carried out in an effort to improve the professional competence of teachers at SMP N 2 Tengaran through training and assistance in Classroom Action Research (CAR) and its publication. A total of 40 teachers participated in this activity which was packaged in In Service Training (IST) and On Service Training (OST) for 32 Lesson Hours with three main stages namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Overall, efforts to improve the professionalism and competence of SMP N 2 Tengaran Semarang teachers through the implementation of community service went well. This is supported by the results of the evaluation questionnaire analysis, which concluded that the participants were very satisfied with the service activities carried out. In addition, the percentage of teacher completeness in preparing PTK proposals and preparing CAR articles is also in the good category.

Abstract

Jatirejo Village is a hilly area where some places tend to have depressions so that they are prone to puddles. Therefore, a system is needed that can help infiltrate water into the soil, one of which is biopori, based on organic waste and plastic bottles. This service aims to provide education related to biopores as well as train Jatirejo Village residents to make and apply biopores, especially in the basin area, to reduce the risk of flood threats. The methods used were lectures, discussions, and hands-on practices carried out in four stages, namely situation analysis and preparation, socialization, implementation, and evaluation. In general, the results of the analysis showed that the participants were satisfied with the training and that the training activities provided positive benefits, as evidenced by the significant increase in knowledge after the participants participated in the biopore training activities.

Abstract

Evaluation may be carried out using different tests that are not necessarily parallel. Students with lower abilities may get higher scores while those with higher abilities get lower scores. Measurement errors caused by this condition require test equating. Several computer programs, including Bilog and the R program, can be used for test equating. Each program has a different level of accuracy, and the accuracy of the equating results will affect the standard errors of equating. This study aimed to find out the most accurate equating test method and the accuracy of the estimated BILOG and R program. This research used two sets of tests with equivalent group designs. The determination of the most accurate equating method was based on the root mean square deviation (RMSD) value. Equating test packages, A to package B with BILOG program estimation on the mean and Sigma method resulted in RMSD value of 0.320. In the mean and mean method, RMSD value is 0.250. Meanwhile, equating package A to package B using R program on the mean and sigma resulted in RMSD value of 0.300, and the mean and mean method with the RMSD value is 0.272. The mean and mean yield RMSD values smaller than the mean and sigma methods. Therefore, the mean and mean method is more accurate and applicable. Moreover, the estimation results of the BILOG program are more accurate and can be used in test equating.

Abstract

Cayenne pepper is a leading horticultural commodity in Indonesia. However, the productivity and quality produced have not met market expectations. One of the contributing factors is the low quality of the soil. For this reason, switching from inorganic fertilizers to organic fertilizers, such as Black Soldier Fly Frass (BSFF), is necessary because it can provide several nutrients that are crucial in improving the soil's physical, chemical, and biological properties. In this study, the formulation of BSFF was tested for its impact on cayenne pepper's growth response and yield. The research was arranged in a completely randomized design consisting of three treatments with three repetitions, namely P1 (100 grams of BSFF biofertilizer), P2 (250 grams of BSFF biofertilizer), and P3 (500 grams of BSFF biofertilizer). The results showed an interaction between doses of  BSFF biofertilizer on plant height, physical conditions (color and size), number, and wet weight of cayenne pepper; which P3 gave the most optimal growth response and yield. In contrast to these results, all treatments reduced vitamin C  to the high level of N nutrients in BSFF biofertilizer. Therefore, further research is needed to find the right dosage (below 100 grams/500 grams of media) so that cayenne pepper has a high vitamin C.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital calorimeter experimental kit that is valid, accurate, precise, and as well and to analyze the profile of the ability to design experiments in pre-service science teachers after taking lectures using the digital calorimeter experiment kit. This research used the ADDIE model. The digital calorimeter that has been developed has digital innovation by using a digital temperature controller W1209 and an integrated heater. Expert validation results show valid criteria. The experimental results show a precision level of 98.9% and an accuracy rate of 95.6%. After the digital calorimeter was applied to lectures, a profile of the ability to design experimental science teacher candidates was obtained in the high category with an average score of 83.16. So it can be concluded that the digital calorimeter experimental kit developed is valid, accurate, precise, and able to train the ability to design experimental pre-service science teacher. The development of a digital calorimeter experiment kit can be an alternative to providing technology-based experiment tools and can also train the abilities of pre-service science teachers related to science experiments.

Abstract

Masalah skoring masih menjadi isu yang relevan bagi pengukuran dan pengujian pendidikan karena perilaku guessing merupakan salah satu faktor yang berkontribusi pada skor yang dihasilkan, padahal idealnya skor tes haruslah sedekat mungkin dengan tingkat penguasaan testee yang sebenarnya. Untuk mengatasi hal tesebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkomparasikan model penskoran klasik yang berbasis guessing (variasi 4 dan 5 pilihan jawaban) dengan model penskoran konvensional (number right scoring) terhadap estimasi observed score yang dihasilkan. Data yang digunakan adalah data simulasi yang dibangkitkan melalui software WinGen, dengan ukuran sampel 300 responden berdasarkan Item Response Theory 1-PL. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model penskoran klasik yang berbeda ternyata tidak memberikan perbedaan yang signifikan dalam hal kesesuaian peringkat testee. Selain itu, karakteristik deskriptif dan karakteristik distribusi skornya juga tidak berbeda. Namun demikian, model penskoran berbasis guessing tetap dapat dipertimbangkan penggunaannya sebagai upaya pencegahan guessing mengingat tidak mungkinnya pembuat soal dalam membedakan jawaban benar berdasarkan penguasaan atau lucky guessing.
