Abstract

The development of positive behaviour in early childhood, particularly in terms of discipline and good manners, faces challenges in maintaining behavioural consistency across school and family environments. This study aims to analyse students' positive behaviour and the factors influencing its development at Tadika Tahfiz Malaysia. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation of students' activities. The data were analysed using the Miles and Huberman model, which comprises data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that students generally demonstrate positive behaviour, particularly in terms of discipline, such as arriving on time, following rules, and participating in activities in an orderly manner, as well as good manners, such as respecting teachers, using polite language, and interacting positively with peers. The development of these behaviours is influenced by teacher role modelling, habituation through routine activities, Tahfiz activities integrated with the internalization of adab values, and support from the school and family environments. Behavioural reinforcement is also provided through rewards and educational forms of punishment. However, differences in students' backgrounds and inconsistent support from some parents remain challenges in maintaining positive behaviour. Overall, the study indicates that integrating Tahfiz activities with habituation and the internalization of religious values supports the development of discipline and good manners among young children.

Abstract

The Qawaid-translation tradition is still found in several pesantren in West Sumatra. Arabic is made as something dead or inactive. The use of the direct method with daily Arabic practice can be a solution to improving students' mastery of Arabic material. This method emphasizes props and practice as the core of learning activities. This research analyzes the improvement of students' mastery of Arabic material using the direct method. Classroom Action Research is the method of choice in this research with participant type, using observation and test techniques. Data were obtained from Arabic language teachers and 12 students. The results showed increased learning outcomes for students learning Arabic using the direct method. The acquisition of the average value of complete students increased from the pre-cycle of 51.25 to 76.75 in cycle II. This data shows that using the direct method can improve the mastery of Arabic language material in pesantren. This research has implications for the choice of teacher methods in teaching Arabic actively to enhance students' ability and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The Umayyad Dynasty represents a pivotal period in Islamic civilization that significantly contributed to the formation of Muslim intellectual traditions. This study aims to examine the contribution of the Umayyad Dynasty to the intellectual development of Muslim society and its role in advancing Islamic educational and scholarly traditions. This article employs a qualitative approach with content analysis as the primary research design. Data were gathered through an extensive review of primary and secondary sources, including classical Islamic texts, historical literature, and relevant scholarly publications. The data were analyzed using a historical-analytical framework to explore the development of educational institutions, learning practices, and intellectual activities during the Umayyad era. The findings of the analysis reveal that the Umayyad period witnessed the expansion of mosque and kuttab-based education, the advancement of Quranic studies, Hadith, Fiqh, and Arabic language sciences, as well as the strengthening of scholars' roles in knowledge transmission. Furthermore, state support for scholarly activities facilitated the emergence of intellectual centers that reinforced the growth of Islamic civilization. These findings imply that the Umayyad Dynasty established a strong intellectual foundation for Muslim society and significantly influenced the subsequent development of Islamic education and scholarship.
