Abstract

This research aims to determine the factors that cause a child not to be able to add up basic addition operations which include the results of adding tens, hundreds and thousands in elementary school (SD) but not yet able to answer basic additions. So, the abacus media was chosen to help the process of understanding the basic operations of addition. This research is descriptive qualitative research with a case study approach. The research subject was a female student in class 3A at SD Negeri 002 Palembang for the 2022/2023 academic year with the initials ANA. The abacus used in this research is an ordinary type of abacus whose bead value is a multiple of 10. Each row of beads has 10 beads up to the 10th row with a total of 100 beads. The results of the research show that the abacus is closely related to developing numeracy skills, supported by the knowledge of a child or student who already knows place value in initial counting, especially addition operation material.

Abstract

The development of digital comics based on Storyboard aims to enhance the understanding of fifth-grade elementary school students in the subject of Social Studies, particularly the topic of the arrival of European nations in Indonesia, within a thematic learning context. The goal is to ensure that the learning process is effective and aligns with the intended learning outcomes. The digital comic based on Storyboard contains a sequence of materials accompanied by supporting images to visualize the historical events, making it engaging for students to learn. The use of digital comics based on Storyboard as a teaching tool is expected to assist teachers in improving the quality of the history teaching process, making it easier for students to comprehend the subject matter. The research methodology employed in this study is Research and Development (R&D). The results of the research indicate that the development of digital comics based on Storyboard That is suitable for independent student learning, as evidenced by the effectiveness test, which yielded a value of 0.82, falling into the "high" category. This suggests that digital comics based on Storyboard That have a significant impact and are effective in enhancing Social Studies learning, particularly in history, within the thematic learning context for fifth-grade elementary school students

Abstract

In implementing learning in elementary schools, especially in science and science subjects, there are several problems. This problem is considered to be one of the factors in reducing student learning outcomes. These problems can be problems originating from the teacher's way of teaching to the way students receive learning from the teacher. This research aims to analyze various problems experienced by teachers and students in science learning. The research was conducted in a qualitative descriptive form where this research was conducted on all class V students of SD N 1 Wonokerso, totaling 22 people as the population. The research instruments are observation guidelines, interviews and questionnaires. The results of research on problems that arise in science and science learning in this research include: teachers' classroom mastery that does not pay attention to the diversity of student characteristics, teachers' understanding of the independent curriculum is still lacking, teachers' creativity and understanding of learning models results in a lack of variation in learning, inappropriate use of media. even minimal use of media and students' lack of learning motivation in science learning. The solution to overcome this problem is that educators are expected to always be able to follow the curriculum that is being implemented, align the learning approach with the material being discussed so that students do not become passive, and can choose the right media and involve students during learning.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa kelas V SD Negeri 02 Palembang terhadap konsep siklus air melalui penerapan model Game-Based Learning (GBL) berbasis miniatur siklus air. Metode penelitian menggunakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan dua siklus tindakan yang meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian adalah 35 siswa kelas V. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pemahaman konsep, observasi aktivitas siswa, wawancara guru, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan ketuntasan klasikal dari 5,9% pada awal penelitian menjadi 67,6% pada siklus I, dan meningkat signifikan menjadi 94,3% pada siklus II, dengan rata-rata nilai klasikal mencapai 85,3. Penerapan GBL berbasis miniatur siklus air memberikan pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan, memudahkan pemahaman konsep abstrak, serta meningkatkan motivasi dan keterlibatan aktif siswa dalam pembelajaran. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran ini efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siklus air pada siswa sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran Matematika, khususnya pada materi operasi hitung bilangan bulat, melalui penerapan model Game-Based Learning (GBL). Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus di kelas V.b SD Negeri 02 Palembang dengan jumlah peserta didik sebanyak 35 orang. Setiap siklus terdiri dari tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes tertulis untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir kritis, observasi untuk mengamati aktivitas siswa, wawancara untuk memperoleh informasi mendalam, dan dokumentasi untuk mendukung data lainnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam hasil belajar siswa. Nilai rata-rata siswa meningkat dari 44,8 pada tahap pratindakan menjadi 72,5 pada siklus I, dan mencapai 85,3 pada siklus II. Selain itu, persentase ketuntasan belajar meningkat dari 14,3% menjadi 71,4%, dan akhirnya mencapai 94,3%. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa penggunaan Game-Based Learning secara efektif dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran Matematika di jenjang sekolah dasar. This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills in mathematics learning, particularly in the topic of integer operations, through the implementation of the Game-Based Learning (GBL) model. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted in two cycles in class V.b of SD Negeri 02 Palembang, involving 35 students. Each cycle consisted of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through written tests to assess critical thinking skills, observations to monitor student activities, interviews to obtain in-depth information, and documentation to support other data. The results indicated a significant improvement in student learning outcomes. The average score increased from 44.8 in the pre-action stage to 72.5 in the first cycle, and reached 85.3 in the second cycle. Furthermore, the percentage of students achieving mastery improved from 14.3% to 71.4%, and finally to 94.3%. These findings demonstrate that the use of Game-Based Learning is effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills in mathematics learning at the elementary school level. This innovative approach not only engages students but also fosters a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts. As a result, educators are encouraged to integrate Game-Based Learning techniques into their curricula to further support student development and achievement.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi listrik statis melalui penerapan model pembelajaran inkuiri di kelas V sekolah dasar. Masalah yang diangkat adalah rendahnya tingkat pemahaman siswa dalam konsep listrik statis yang bersifat abstrak jika hanya diajarkan secara konvensional. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan tindakan kelas (PTK) diterapkan di dua siklus. Subyek penelitian yakni murid kelas V yang ada di SDN kota X sebanyak 30 murid. Disini instrumen yang digunakan adalah observasi, tes pemahaman konsep, juga wawancara. Hasil penelitian menampilkan terdapat adanya kenaikan signifikan di kemampuan murid dengan adanya peningkatan di pengetahuan terhadap konsep listrik statis setelah diterapkannya model pembelajaran inkuiri. Pada akhir siklus kedua, 86,7% siswa mencapai kategori tuntas dalam hasil evaluasi pembelajaran. Selain itu, siswa menunjukkan peningkatan antusiasme dan partisipasi aktif di kegiatan pembelajaran.Oleh karena itu, pembelajaran inkuiri terbukti efektif dalam mengetahui materi listrik statis secara detaildan kontekstual. This study aims to enhance fifth-grade elementary students' understanding of static electricity concepts through the implementation of an inquiry-based learning model. The research addresses the issue of students' low comprehension of static electricity, often perceived as abstract when taught using conventional methods. Employing a classroom action research (CAR) approach, the study was conducted over two cycles involving 30 students from a public elementary school in City X. Data collection instruments included observation sheets, concept comprehension tests, and interviews. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students' grasp of static electricity concepts following the application of the inquiry-based learning model. By the end of the second cycle, 86.7% of students achieved mastery in the learning evaluations. Additionally, there was a notable increase in student enthusiasm and active participation during the learning process. These results suggest that the inquiry-based learning model effectively facilitates a deeper and more contextual understanding of static electricity among students.

Abstract

The Adiwiyata program requires a structured service method to encourage sustainable environmental practices in schools. This community service activity aimed to enhance environmental awareness, improve waste management skills, and strengthen green school culture at SD Plus IGM Palembang. The program involved 31 participants, consisting of teachers and students, and applied a participatory service method through six stages: needs analysis, socialization, training, application of appropriate technology, mentoring, and evaluation. Needs analysis was conducted through observation and interviews to identify school conditions and environmental challenges. Training activities included hands-on demonstrations of biopore hole construction and guided implementation of a “Digital Waste Bank” application as an appropriate technology for waste management. Mentoring was carried out to ensure participants’ engagement and continuity of practice. Program evaluation employed a mixed-method approach using pre-test and post-test instruments to measure changes in participants’ knowledge, attitudes, and skills, supported by observation and interviews to assess behavioral changes and program effectiveness. The results showed an increase in participants’ competencies, with the average score improving from 74.68 to 96.6 and an N-Gain value of 0.90 (high category). The activity contributed to improved environmental awareness and more systematic waste management practices within the school environment. Tangible outputs included functional biopore holes and an operational Digital Waste Bank system. This service model supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 4 and 13 and can be adopted by other schools in developing sustainable green school initiatives.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low comprehension of second-grade elementary school students regarding addition and subtraction operations due to the use of conventional and less interactive learning media. This condition causes some students to experience difficulty understanding basic mathematical concepts, leading to learning outcomes that have not yet reached the standard of completeness. This study aims to analyze the needs for Wordwall game-based learning media on addition and subtraction material and to identify the potential for its implementation in increasing students' interest and comprehension. The method used is descriptive qualitative, involving teachers and students through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that teachers still predominantly use traditional media even though technology facilities are supportive, while students demonstrate high enthusiasm for visual media and interactive learning activities. Some students still memorize without fully grasping the concepts, highlighting the need for media that provides engaging, repetitive practice. The needs analysis indicates that Wordwall has great potential as a learning medium capable of increasing students' motivation, engagement, and understanding of basic arithmetic operations, making it relevant for implementation in second-grade Mathematics learning.
