Abstract

Demand for rice as a source of food continues to rise, while the capacity to produce a rice paddy more limited. One effort is to develop upland rice tolerance to drought and high production potential. The study was conducted at the Experimental Faculty of Agriculture Unhalu. Character judgments production were observed between (1) the number of tillers at harvest, (2) the number of productive tillers, (3) panicle length (cm), (4) the number of filled grain/panicle  and  seed  weight  of  100  grains.  The  results  showed  that  there  are  two varieties that are very resistant to drought conditions, namely Bali and Wangkariri Sala. While five local upland rice varieties are very sensitive to drought are varieties Paebiu Sitoro, Wagamba, Paebiu Angata, Apolo, Wakawondu. Keywords: drought resistance, drought stress, upland rice.

Abstract

An experiment aimed in gaining information on morphological characteristics of Jatropha curcas (L.) containing high frequency of uninucleate microspores has been done. This was important due to the successful application of experiment in haploid technique through anther or microspore culture is strongly determined by the availability of information from basic research such as appropriate morphology of the flowers. This scientific article, in our knowledge, was an early explanation of the initial steps of whole procedures in the microspore culture of Jatropha curcas (L.).  Results of the research showed that the morphological features of flower that contained high frequency of mid- and late uninucleate microspores was that the flowers must be in the range of 2 to 3 mm in length. Abstract

Rice is an important food crop in the world, exceeding potatoes, corn, wheat and other cereals. The experiment was conducted to study differences in the  growth characters of some progenies from the crosses of upland rice and to know the cross combinations which produced the best growth characters. The research treatment was seven progenies from crosses of upland rice.   Seven progenies of the rice grown in the field experiment were evaluated based on morphological characters, especially rice stems and leaves. Based on the stem color and the color of the sheath, there were two groups consisted of F2 plants population of progeny A (33/Wagamba (1)), E (Wagamba/33), and F (33/Wagamba (3)) with the color purple midrib purple stem and base. In the second group contained of the F2 plant population of progeny B ( 33/Wagamba (2)), C (Cegelius/Wangkoito (1)), D (Cegelius/Wangkoito (2)), and G (33/Wagamba (4)) with the base of the stem and sheath color were green. The progeny A (33/Wagamba (1)) and progeny E (Wagamba/33) were the best progeny because it had several advantages such as growth form upright, erect leafs, plant height, number of tillers, and dark green leaves. Keywords: growth character, crosses, upland rice, progeny, selection.

Abstract

Efforts to increase rice production to achieve sustainable production faced a serious challenge. Rice demand is increasing due to population growth, changing consumption patterns of non-rice to rice, and the improvement of the local economy. On the other hand the national rice production is more limited. One alternative way to secure national rice production is through development of sub-optimal land, in the form of dry land, for upland rice cultivation. Potency of dry land for upland rice is big enough though constrained by such factors of soil fertility, rainfall and the presence of blast attacks. Test for drought stress was conducted using the Standard Evaluation System (SES) for Rice developed by the International Rice Researh Institute (IRRI). The results of the study on 24 local upland rice cultivars, based on the degrees of curl leaf and shoot dry index, it was known that there were two varieties that are very resistant to drought stress, i.e. cultivar Sala Bali and cultivar Wangkariri, and as many as six cultivars i.e. Paebiu Kolopua, Paebiu Tamalaki, Wangko'ito, and Wa Mengkale that were resistant to drought. Keyword: drought resistant, germplasm, upland rice

Abstract

This research was conducted in a factorial pattern of split plot design, with three factors.  The first factor (as main plot) was acidity (pH), with two treatment levels: pH 4.5 (P1) and pH 6.5 (P2); the second factor (as sub plot) was aluminium concentration, with four treatment levels: 0 ppm Al (A1), 50 ppm Al (A2), 100 ppm Al (A3), and 150 ppm Al (A4); and the third factor (as sub-sub plot) was variety, with eight treatment levels: SU-025 (V1), ST-028 (V2), ST-050 (V3), ST-070 (V4), ST-079 (V5), SE-081 (V6), SE-090 (V7), and SU-094 (V8). Each treatment was repeated twice, resulting in 128 experimental units. The objectives of the research were: (1) to study the effect of acidity, aluminium concentration and their interactions on the growth of several maize varieties, (2) to obtain maize varieties which were tolerant to acidity and high aluminium concentration. Research results showed that acidity influenced leaf area and size.  Aluminium influenced stem diameter, leaf area, total leaf weight, plant height, and  dry weight of  top  plant parts (stem  and  leaves).    Variety influenced   all   growth   characters,   except   leaf   size.   Interaction   between   acidity   and aluminium concentration influenced seminal root length.   Interaction between acidity, aluminium and variety influenced lateral root length, whereas interaction between acidity and variety had no influenced on all plant growth characters.  Concentration of 50 ppm Al gave a better effect compared to the concentration of 150 ppm Al.   The growth of maize variety ST-028 (V2) and SU-025 (V1) gave a better yield, compared to other varieties. Keywords: acidity, aluminium, maize, in vitro

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh berbagai kerapatan deleterious rizobakter Pseudomonas aeruginosa A08) sebagai bioherbisida dan pemacu pertumbuhan tanaman kedelai (Glycine max L. Merril). Penelitian dilaksanakan di Desa Jati Bali, Kecamatan Ranomeeto Barat, Kabupaten Konawe Selatan, Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara. Penelitian secara eksperimen dengan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK), terdiri dari empat taraf yaitu tanpa bakteri (B0), OD 1 (B1), 1,5 (B2) dan 2 (B3), masing-masing dengan empat ulangan. Data dianalisis dengan Anova dan perbedaan antar perlakuan diuji dengan BNJ dengan taraf kepercayaan 95%. Deleterious rizobakteri P. aeruginosa A08 dalam berbagai kepadatan memberi pengaruh yang nyata dalam menekan pertumbuhan gulma dan memacu pertumbuhan tanaman kedelai. Perlakuan terbaik dalam menekan pertumbuhan gulma dipertanaman kedelai diperoleh pada perlakuan B3 (P. aeruginosa A08 OD 2). Sementara Perlakuan terbaik dalam memacu pertumbuhan kedelai diperoleh pada perlakuan B2 (P. aeruginosa A08 OD 1,5) dan B3 (P. aeruginosa A08 OD 2) dibandingkan dengan perlakuan lain dan kontrol.

Abstract

The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a crucial measure in protecting healthcare workers from the risk of infection exposure in the workplace. However, in Fancawati Village, Klari Sub-district, Karawang Regency, the level of PPE usage among community health volunteers (posyandu staff) remains suboptimal. This community service program aims to enhance knowledge, attitudes, and adherence to PPE usage among posyandu staff through educational activities, training, simulations, and intensive mentoring over one month. The methods used include an initial survey, socialization, training, simulations, mentoring, and evaluation. The results showed an increase in knowledge from 55% to 90%, a positive attitude shift from 50% to 80%, and improved adherence to PPE use from 60% to 85%. Additionally, the number of posyandu units providing PPE independently increased from 3 to 6. This program successfully improved the quality of services at posyandu by raising awareness and better PPE usage behaviors. The success of this program highlights the importance of a holistic approach that involves education, policy support, and adequate facility provision to improve safety standards in primary healthcare facilities

Abstract

Occupational health and safety (OHS) is a crucial aspect of protecting workers from the risks of accidents and work-related illnesses, especially in healthcare facilities such as community health centers (Puskesmas). This study aims to evaluate the impact of a safety training program on reducing the number of workplace accidents at Puskesmas Klari Karawang. This community service program was implemented through several stages, including problem identification, material preparation, initial outreach, training and simulations, interactive discussions, and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. The results show a significant reduction in workplace accidents across all categories. Minor accidents decreased by 40%, moderate accidents by 46.7%, and severe accidents by 60%. This decrease was influenced by an increase in workers' knowledge and compliance with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and the implementation of safety protocols. Furthermore, continuous monitoring and evaluation confirmed the program’s effectiveness in fostering a stronger safety culture within the workplace. This occupational safety outreach program has demonstrated positive outcomes in reducing workplace accidents and can be adapted by other healthcare facilities

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the optimal composition of planting material to enhance the growth of porang seedlings. The study was conducted in the laboratory of the Agronomy Department, Agriculture Faculty of Halu Oleo University, Kendari, and continued in field nursery at Wua-Wua District, Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi. This research was carried out in two stages: (1) testing at the germination stage in the laboratory and (2) testing at the seedling stage in a field experiment. Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi, from October to December 2021. Testing at the germination stage in the laboratory used a completely randomized design consisting of six treatments of planting media compositions, namely M0 (soil), M1 (soil + rice husk charcoal; 1;1), M2 (soil + rice husk charcoal + organic fertilizer; 1:2:1), M3 (soil + rice husk charcoal + organic fertilizer; 1:1:2), M4 (soil + rice husk charcoal + organic fertilizer; 1:2:2), M5 (soil + rice husk charcoal + organic fertilizer; 1:2:3). While the test at the nursery stage used a randomized block design, with the same treatments as the treatments at the germination stage. The findings indicated that the composition of planting media significantly affected the growth of porang seedlings. The optimal planting media composition for enhancing the growth of porang seedlings consisted of soil, rice husk charcoal, and organic fertilizer in a ratio of 1:2:3. The increase in plant growth, as indicated by stem diameter, was 133% relative to the control group.

Abstract

Rumah Gemilang Indonesia is an empowerment program unit and training center under the Al-Azhar National Amil Zakat Institute Program directorate. The current collection of academic data is felt to be less effective because it is still done manually. One of the superior features planned is an online report card system that allows academic staff and students to access the academic data needed for their respective needs. The method of collecting data in the preparation of this thesis is the method of observation, interviews and literature study. A web development method developed using the Code Igniter framework whose programming language is PHP based, Code Igniter applies the MVC (Model, View, Controller) concept which makes it easier for developers to design a website. By developing this academic application, it can make it easier for academic staff to manage academic data and student report card scores online, which will be very effective and efficient in terms of time and students can immediately see the results of their report card scores online by accessing This academic application is through a website that is opened using a browser.
