Abstract

Mathematical representation ability still tends to be low in mathematics learning because instructional practices are more oriented toward procedural completion than conceptual understanding. This condition causes students to experience difficulties in expressing mathematical concepts into visual, symbolic, verbal, and diagrammatic forms systematically. The use of Electronic Student Worksheets (E-LKPD) within the Discovery Learning model is considered capable of facilitating the exploration and discovery of mathematical concepts in a more structured manner. This study aimed to analyze the role of E-LKPD in the Discovery Learning model toward students’ mathematical representation ability based on a literature study. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach was employed by analyzing 17 scientific articles published between 2021 and 2025 obtained from Google Scholar, Scopus, and ScienceDirect. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis to identify research patterns, tendencies, and major themes. The findings indicated that E-LKPD within the Discovery Learning model contributed to the reinforcement of visual, symbolic, verbal, and diagrammatic representations through structured and interactive exploratory activities. The major themes identified included the strengthening of mathematical representation through interactive E-LKPD features, support for mathematical exploration and concept discovery, and increased student engagement in mathematics learning. Furthermore, the effectiveness of E-LKPD was influenced by media design quality, clarity of instructional syntax, and the suitability of learning activities with conceptual objectives in mathematics learning. Therefore, E-LKPD in the Discovery Learning model can be understood as a learning medium that supports the development of students’ mathematical representation ability in a more systematic and constructive manner.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of self-confidence mathematical problem-solving abilities as well as the relationship between these two variables. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) referring to the PRISMA stages, which include the formulation of research questions, literature identification, screening process, followed by eligibility and inclusion. From a total of 20 accredited and reputable articles ranging from SINTA 4 to SINTA 2 and Scopus-indexed journals published between 2018 and 2025, 16 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach with student subjects including elementary, junior high, and senior high school levels. The inclusion criteria used were: (1) articles discussing self-confidence and mathematical problem-solving ability, (2) empirical research articles, and (3) articles published within a relevant time frame (a maximum of the last 10 years). The results show that self-confidence has a positive effect on mathematical problem-solving ability with varying levels of contribution, and also has a significant relationship with that ability. In addition, the findings indicate that self-confidence plays a role in supporting students' thinking processes in solving mathematical problems. Thus, it can be concluded that self-confidence is an important factor in improving students' mathematical problem-solving abilities, although its influence is contextual and affected by other factors.

Abstract

Mathematical representation ability is a crucial foundation for students in constructing concepts and solving mathematical problems, yet its achievement is often hindered by psychological factors such as low self-confidence. This study aims to analyze the role of self-efficacy on students' mathematical representation abilities within the framework of innovative learning models through a systematic literature study. The method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 18 relevant national and international scientific articles. The analysis results show a significant positive correlation between self-efficacy and mathematical representation ability. Students with high self-efficacy are able to flexibly translate between forms of representation, while those with low efficacy tend to face obstacles in symbolic and verbal representations. The findings also emphasize that innovative learning models, particularly Project-Based Learning (PjBL) integrated with technology or the STEAM approach, serve as the most effective intervention strategies. These models provide mastery experiences that simultaneously boost self-confidence and sharpen students' representation skills. In conclusion, strengthening affective aspects through innovative instructional design is the primary key to optimizing mathematical representation abilities at the secondary school level.

Abstract

Indonesian students' numeracy literacy and mathematical problem-solving abilities remain low, as reflected in the 2022 PISA results which ranked Indonesia 70th out of 81 countries. This study aims to systematically examine the relationship between numeracy literacy ability and students' mathematical problem-solving ability in solving Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) problems based on a synthesis of research published from 2021 to 2025. The method used is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with the PRISMA framework. Data sources were obtained through Google Scholar using the Publish or Perish application, applying strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 12 selected articles from SINTA-indexed national journals. The results show that numeracy literacy of junior and senior high school students is generally still in the low to moderate category when facing HOTS problems. There is a positive and significant relationship between numeracy literacy and mathematical problem-solving ability, proven through its direct connection to the four stages of Polya's problem-solving. The most dominant errors are transformation errors and process skill errors. These findings imply the need to shift mathematics learning from a formula memorization approach toward habituation of real-context problems that demand high-order reasoning.

Abstract

This study was conducted to examine whether there is a significant difference in the mathematical literacy abilities of students who participate in Deep Learning programs implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model and those who participate in Deep Learning programs without the implementation of PBL. The study employed a quasi-experimental method using a Nonequivalent Control Group Pretest–Posttest Design. The population consisted of all eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Pandeglang in the 2025/2026 academic year. A total of 70 students were selected as the sample through purposive sampling, with 35 students assigned to the experimental group and 35 students to the control group. Data were collected using a mathematical literacy test administered as both a pretest and a posttest. The experimental group received Deep Learning instruction integrated with the Problem-Based Learning model, whereas the control group received Deep Learning instruction without the implementation of Problem-Based Learning. Data analysis was carried out using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The normality test results, based on the Shapiro–Wilk test, indicated that one of the posttest datasets did not meet the assumption of normality. Therefore, hypothesis testing was conducted using the nonparametric Mann–Whitney U test. The findings revealed a significant difference in the mathematical literacy abilities of students who participated in Deep Learning instruction integrated with the Problem-Based Learning model and those who participated in Deep Learning instruction without the implementation of Problem-Based Learning.
