Abstract

Education in Indonesia is a fundamental right crucial for national development. Despite continuous progress, the quality of education still faces significant challenges, such as a lack of facilities, infrastructure, and professional educators. In the 5.0 era, education must become more inclusive, skill-based, and relevant to current developments. Teachers are required to develop engaging learning models to enhance students’ motivation, interest, and active participation. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing Game-Based Learning (GBL) and Team Games Tournament (TGT) models on students’ interest in learning Islamic Education (IE) at SMP Negeri 23 Bandar Lampung. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The experimental classes were VIII E and VIII F, while VIII H served as the control class. Post-test data collection used non-test instruments (questionnaires). The tests conducted included instrument tests (validity and reliability), prerequisite tests (normality and homogeneity), and hypothesis testing (One-Way ANOVA). The study results showed a reliability value of 0.696 > 0.6. In hypothesis testing using One-Way ANOVA, the significance value obtained was 0.001 < 0.005, leading to the rejection of H₀. It can be concluded that the GBL and TGT models are more effective in enhancing learning interest compared to conventional teaching methods. The implications of this study highlight the importance of integrating technology into ISLAMIC EDUCATIONlearning and the necessity for teachers to design adaptive and responsive teaching strategies. This study proposes a unique approach by combining Wordwall-based GBL and Educaplay-based TGT models, focusing on enhancing students' interest in learning Islamic education.

Abstract

Private Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions in Indonesia, particularly in Lampung Province, continue to face significant challenges in enhancing lecturer welfare due to suboptimal compensation policies. Disparities between workload and financial incentives often diminish lecturers’ motivation and negatively impact the quality of education. This study aims to examine the implementation of compensation policies in Private Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions, evaluate their effects on lecturer welfare and academic performance, and propose realistic optimization strategies. Framed by Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory, this qualitative study used a case study approach involving in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis across three Private Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions  with varying institutional characteristics. The findings show that compensation components—including base salary, performance bonuses, welfare benefits, and professional development support are inconsistently implemented and often constrained by limited budgets, lack of transparency, and institutional policy gaps. These deficiencies contribute to low job satisfaction and hinder efforts to improve teaching and research. The study recommends the adoption of a transparent, performance-based compensation framework supported by improved financial governance and alternative funding strategies such as corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships, waqf-based endowments, and performance-based grants. Strengthened collaboration between institutions, government, and external stakeholders is also essential to ensure sustainable improvement in lecturer welfare and education quality in Private Islamic Religious Higher Education Institutions.

Abstract

This article discusses the urgency of developing an integrative model that connects epistemological aspects and managerial practices in the governance of madrassas and pesantren in response to the challenges of contemporary Islamic education. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method through the analysis of books, scientific journals, and Islamic education policy documents. The analysis was carried out in a descriptive-analytical manner to find the relationship between the epistemological dimension and managerial practice. The results show that the integration of three approaches to Islamic epistemology bayani (textual), irfani (spiritual), and burhani (rational) strengthens the conceptual foundations of Islamic education governance. Managerial practices show efforts to adapt to the national curriculum, use of digital technology, and leadership capacity building, although still facing limited resources. The synthesis of these two aspects results in a scientific and contextual model of governance, which balances the values of tradition with the demands of modernizing Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of the philosophy of science to innovation in Islamic education management by highlighting the relationship between theoretical dimensions and institutional practices in responding to the challenges of globalization, digitalization, and value crises. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this research examines various national and international publications from 2019–2024 to identify integration patterns between the philosophy of science and managerial policies in Islamic education. The findings reveal that the philosophy of science serves as a conceptual, normative, and reflective foundation that guides Islamic education management to avoid technocratic and pragmatic tendencies. The ontological, epistemological, and axiological dimensions of the philosophy of science strengthen the formulation of vision, policy, and educational innovation that emphasize moral values, human development, and social benefit. However, the study also identifies a gap between philosophical ideals and managerial practices, which remain dominated by administrative efficiency. Therefore, reflective culture, value-based leadership, and management systems grounded in philosophical reasoning are needed to ensure that decision-making and innovation are ethically and spiritually guided. The results of this study are expected to enrich the theoretical and practical development of Islamic education management based on the philosophy of science and to offer a new direction for Islamic education as a civilizational force founded on knowledge, faith, and righteous action. Keywords: philosophy of science, Islamic education management, innovation, reflective leadership, educational reform

Abstract

Abstract

Application this method is based on an innovation in Al-Qur'an learning. This methodis applied to help students read the Al-Qur'an throughtahsin Al-Qur'an learning. This method uses an innovative, easy, and fun right-brain approachto learning the Al-Qur'an. In the process of learning tahsin, the 5P method (Opening, Experience, Teaching, Assessment, and Closing) is used, as well as the application of jiharkah tones. This methodis inseparable from the learning guidebook, namely the itmamul qiro'ah book, whichconsists of 4 volumes and an additional 1 pre-tahsin volume. The focus of this issue is the application of the Itmamul Qiro'ah method in tahsin learning. The data research method used was qualitative and processed usingdata triangulation.   The results showed that the application of theitmamul qiro'ah method using the IQ book at the Quran Academywent well in accordance with the procedures, namely planning, implementation, andevaluation. This achievement is inseparable from the teachers who have provided mentoringand training, the implementation of a structured learning system, the high motivationof the children, and adequate facilities.Theobstacles were that the children were often too active, making it difficult tocontrol them, the lack of learning hours in some learning centers, and the young age of the children, which required extra effort.

Abstract

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of the 5E Learning Cycle instructional model in improving students’ learning outcomes and academic engagement motivation in Islamic Religious Education at SMP Negeri 11 Bandar Lampung. The research was conducted in response to preliminary findings indicating low levels of student motivation, particularly in intrinsic learning drive, which reached only 18%. A quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design was employed, involving two randomly selected Grade VII classes: an experimental group taught using the Learning Cycle 5E model and a control group receiving conventional instruction. The research instrument was a structured learning motivation questionnaire initially consisting of 15 items. Following the validity analysis, 10 items met the required criteria and were retained for further analysis. The reliability test conducted on these valid items yielded a Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient of 0.704, indicating an acceptable level of internal consistency. Accordingly, this reliability coefficient is consistently reported throughout the manuscript to ensure methodological clarity and avoid interpretative bias. Data were analyzed using tests of normality, homogeneity, and an independent sample t-test. The results revealed a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups (p < 0.05), indicating that the Learning Cycle 5E model effectively improved students’ learning motivation. Notable improvements were observed in enthusiasm, responsibility, independence, and active engagement. This research provides empirical evidence supporting the effectiveness of the 5E instructional model in enhancing the quality of the learning process and improving students’ academic engagement Islamic Religious Education beyond science-based instruction.

Abstract

The following study aims to examine the effect of the Talking Stick cooperative learning model on student learning engagement in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at SMPN 11 Bandar Lampung. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental posttest-only control group design. The research sample consisted of 60 students divided into an experimental class and a control class, each with 30 students. Data were obtained through a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. The analysis results showed that the data had a normal and homogeneous distribution. However, the t-test results obtained a significance value of 0.131 (p > 0.05), which indicated that the application of the Talking Stick model did not significantly affect student learning engagement. This finding indicates that the Talking Stick model does not automatically increase learning engagement in the affective domain in IRE learning. This study emphasizes the importance of using a more adaptive, contextual learning approach that is aligned with student characteristics and value-based learning objectives. Therefore, IRE teachers who wish to continue using this model are advised to integrate it with reflective activities and value reinforcement strategies to ensure that classroom interactions are not only participatory but also affectively meaningful.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of algorithm-driven digital media has significantly transformed how religious knowledge is produced, accessed, and internalized by young generations. Within Islamic education, this transformation presents epistemological challenges to the cultivation of religious moderation, particularly among Generation Z, whose learning practices are deeply embedded in social media ecosystems. Existing studies on religious moderation in Islamic education largely adopt normative and policy-oriented perspectives, while paying limited attention to the epistemic processes through which learners construct religious understanding in algorithmic environments. This article aims to analyze recent scholarly trends (2020–2025) on religious moderation, Islamic education, algorithms, and Generation Z, and to reconstruct religious moderation as an epistemic competence within Islamic educational practice. The study employs a qualitative narrative literature review strengthened by descriptive analysis of Scopus metadata to identify dominant themes and research gaps across interdisciplinary literature. The findings indicate a substantial gap between the growing body of research on Islamic education and Generation Z and the limited integration of algorithmic structures and epistemological dimensions of religious moderation. The study argues that algorithmic personalization shapes the visibility, authority, and fragmentation of religious knowledge, thereby influencing how moderation is learned and practiced. As a conceptual contribution, this article proposes reframing religious moderation as an epistemic learning competence grounded in Islamic epistemology, critical digital literacy, and algorithmic awareness. This framework offers theoretical and practical implications for curriculum development, pedagogical design, and the management of Islamic educational institutions in the digital era.
