Abstract

This study examines the influence of blended learning models and internet self-efficacy on student learning outcomes in Pancasila Education, motivated by persistently low achievement linked to the limited use of innovative instructional approaches. A quasi-experimental design was employed, involving 288 fourth-grade students from public and private elementary schools in Bangkalan, East Java. Participants were exposed to either blended learning or direct instruction. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and two-way ANOVA to assess the effects of the instructional model and internet self-efficacy on learning outcomes. The findings indicate that both instructional models significantly affected learning outcomes (F = 4.949, p = 0.027). Students with higher internet self-efficacy demonstrated significantly better performance (F = 8.815, p = 0.003). However, there was no significant interaction between the type of learning model and internet self-efficacy (F = 0.079, p = 0.779), suggesting that self-efficacy independently contributes to academic success regardless of instructional method. These results highlight the importance of internet self-efficacy in enhancing student learning outcomes. Although blended learning proved effective, its benefits did not vary based on self-efficacy levels. Blended learning can improve engagement and achievement in Pancasila Education. Educators are encouraged to adopt blended approaches and tailor instruction to student self-efficacy levels. Future research should explore these variables across other subjects and contexts.

Abstract

The rising cost of education has prompted students and families to seek alternative financing, including online loans. However, the use of online loans for education financing raises ethical and religious issues, particularly related to the practice of usury, which is expressly prohibited in Islamic teachings. This study aims to analyze the influence of religious understanding regarding the consequences of online loans and usury on individuals' decisions to use online loans as a source of education financing. This study used a mixed methods approach. Quantitative data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 20 respondents who had experience or considered using online loans for education, while qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with 7 religious and community leaders regarding the concept, understanding, and impact of online loans on education financing. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and regression analysis to identify the relationship between religious understanding, awareness of loan consequences, and the decision to borrow for education financing. The analysis results showed that the variables of understanding online loans (X1) and understanding of religious values (X2) did not have a significant influence on the decision to take out online loans for education financing (Y). Meanwhile, qualitative data were analyzed thematically to provide contextual and normative explanations for the quantitative findings. The results show that a higher level of religious understanding regarding usury and the socio-economic impacts of online loans significantly reduces individuals' likelihood of choosing online loans to finance education. Qualitative findings confirm that moral considerations, concerns about debt dependence, and a commitment to Islamic financial ethics are key factors in financial decision-making. This research contributes to the development of faith-based financial behavior studies and emphasizes the importance of religious literacy in addressing the challenges of education financing in the digital era.

Abstract

Individual behavior is not formed suddenly, but is influenced by various factors. In the context of Islamic boarding school education, fostering student behavior is an important aspect, and one of the distinctive values of Islamic boarding schools that can be utilized in fostering behavior is andhap asor. This study aims to find out how Andhap Asor is instilled as a strategy for shaping student behavior. It also examines how the reinforcement and development of Andhap Asor behavior are maintained. This study was conducted using a qualitative field approach, collecting data from informants, namely Kiai, administrators, and students at the Raudlatul Ulum Palongan Islamic Boarding School, Bluto District, through interviews and documentation, which were then analyzed using Huberman's data analysis method. The findings of the study are as follows. First, behavioral training is carried out through the initial stage of theory transfer as a form of stimulus, then reinforced through the reinforcement process and continued continuously with the creation of an environment that reflects the values of Andhap Asor. Second, the Andhap Asor culture developed in Islamic boarding schools is framed in Islamic values, which are instilled through a structured habituation process. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the behavioral guidance of students at Islamic boarding schools through behavioral counseling strategies can be effective by integrating Andhap Asor values as a cultural foundation. Thus, this strategy not only shapes behavior technically, but also instills character in accordance with the noble values of Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This research examines the Penjamasan Pusaka tradition in Aeng Tong Tong, Sumenep, as a sacred ritual that transcends the preservation of heirlooms to serve as a medium for identity reinforcement, social legitimacy, and communal harmony. The study specifically analyzes the construction, negotiation, and transmission of gender roles within the ritual’s power dynamics. Utilizing an ethnographic approach, data were gathered through participant observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, village officials, and ritual committees. The findings reveal a complex gender structure: while men dominate the public domain—leading processions and maintaining authoritative legitimacy—women occupy strategic spiritual, symbolic, and logistical roles essential to the ritual's continuity. These relations reflect a complementary pattern that fosters social cohesion, yet simultaneously reveals power asymmetries rooted in local patriarchal culture. The study concludes that Penjamasan Pusaka serves as a vital arena for gender representation where local wisdom facilitates social harmony. This traditional model remains highly relevant to global discourses on cultural sustainability, equality, and the preservation of indigenous heritage in a modernizing world.

Abstract

Purpose – The integration of social and spiritual dimensions constitutes a fundamental foundation in Islamic psychology. However, in contemporary discourse, these two dimensions are often treated as separate constructs. This study aims to analyze the relevance of the social and spiritual dimensions within the framework of Islamic psychology through a comparative examination of the thoughts of Imam Al-Ghazali and Hasan Langgulung. Grounded in the assumption that psychological well-being in Islam is inherently relational and transcendental, this research seeks to formulate a conceptual synthesis that bridges classical and modern perspectives. Methods – This study employs a narrative literature review approach by systematically examining primary and secondary sources related to the ideas of both scholars, along with recent literature on social support, spirituality, and character education.Findings – The findings indicate a clear epistemological continuity between Al-Ghazali’s concept of purification of the soul as the ethical foundation of social life and Langgulung’s integrative educational framework, which emphasizes the harmonization of intellectual, social, and spiritual aspects in the development of mental health. Research Implications – The novelty of this study lies in proposing an integrative socio-spiritual framework that understands psychological well-being not merely as emotional and cognitive stability, but as a balanced social relationship grounded in spiritual values. The implications highlight the importance of adopting a holistic approach in psychological practice, particularly within Muslim communities, by integrating social relational aspects, the search for life’s meaning, and the strengthening of spirituality in both assessment and intervention processes.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Islamic social entrepreneurship in reinventing pesantren-based economies as a sustainable model for community transformation within the broader discourse of inclusive and ethical development. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation at Pondok Pesantren Al-Amien Prenduan, Indonesia. The findings demonstrate that the implementation of Islamic social entrepreneurship through the Micro Waqf Bank (BWM) Al-Pend Barokah Mandiri significantly contributes to economic empowerment among productive low-income communities. Beyond local impact, this pesantren-based model addresses global challenges related to financial inclusion, social inequality, and sustainable development by embedding Islamic ethical values within entrepreneurial practices. The study contributes to the literature by conceptualizing pesantren not merely as religious institutions but as transformative socio-economic actors capable of driving inclusive growth. This research proposes pesantren-based Islamic social entrepreneurship as a viable alternative framework for sustainable community transformation in emerging Muslim economies.

Abstract

Purpose of the Study: Islamic religious education (PAI) in Indonesia plays a pivotal role in nurturing the character, morality, and spirituality of the younger generation. Among the key institutions delivering PAI are Islamic boarding schools (pesantren), which integrate religious and general education within a unique cultural and educational framework. This study aims to critically analyze the implementation of the Islamic education curriculum in pesantren and to assess its impact on educational quality and relevance in a rapidly changing societal context. Methodology: Adopting a qualitative library research approach, this study systematically examines scholarly literature, policy documents, and prior research to explore curriculum practices in pesantren. The focus is on understanding both traditional and modern models of curriculum integration and the challenges faced in adapting Islamic education to contemporary educational standards. Main Findings: The study reveals that traditional pesantren, emphasizing classical religious sciences, often encounter difficulties integrating competency-based curriculum reforms demanded by modern education systems. Conversely, progressive pesantren that adopt competency-based frameworks exhibit significant improvements in educational quality, particularly in practical skills aligned with societal and workforce needs. However, the transition remains uneven and faces structural challenges. Novelty/Originality of this Study: This research offers a novel perspective by highlighting the tension between maintaining religious authenticity and pursuing educational modernization in pesantren. It proposes a strategic model for curriculum transformation supported by government policy, teacher capacity building, and infrastructural enhancement. This study contributes to reimagining Islamic boarding schools as dynamic institutions capable of preserving religious values while equipping students for global challenges.
