Abstract

Midwives are healthcare workers who make the first physical contact with newborns during delivery. They bear significant responsibilities in preventing COVID-19, which can contribute to increased anxiety levels. Many factors are associated with healthcare workers' anxiety, yet studies specifically focusing on predictors of anxiety among midwives remain limited. This analytical study utilized a cross-sectional approach to identify predictors of anxiety among midwives during the COVID-19 pandemic in Nagan Raya District. The study involved a sample of 533 midwives, with data collected via Google Forms. Multivariate analysis was conducted using multiple logistic regression tests with a 95% confidence level. The study found that 43 midwives (81.24%) experienced anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Factors significantly associated with anxiety included age ≥32 years (p-value = 0.006; OR = 1.86; 95% CI: 1.20–2.89), workload (p-value = 0.000; OR = 2.43; 95% CI: 1.53–3.84), independent midwifery practice (p-value = 0.044; OR = 4.44; 95% CI: 1.04–18.95), and acting as the primary birth attendant (p-value = 0.032; OR = 1.61; 95% CI: 1.04–2.49). The most dominant factor associated with anxiety was high workload (p-value = 0.000; OR = 2.35; 95% CI: 1.46–3.79). Midwives with high workloads were 2.35 times more likely to experience anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to those with lower workloads. It is recommended that midwives reduce their workloads and manage their tasks by creating structured work plans. Additionally, midwives should improve their managerial skills to distribute workloads effectively among team members.

Abstract

Indonesia ranks fifth in Asia in terms of high risk of HIV/AIDS. Men who have sex with men (MSM) are 22 times more likely to contract HIV among at-risk populations worldwide. MSM ranks third in the percentage of HIV-positive individuals undergoing HIV testing in Indonesia, at 8.75%. Previous research estimated that there were 30 active transgender sex workers in Banda Aceh and 311 MSM. Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) is one way to detect HIV. However, several factors prevent transgender individuals from utilizing VCT services. The research design used is descriptive quantitative, analyzing VCT utilization among transgender individuals in Banda Aceh in 2021. The sample size in this study is 77 individuals using total sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire. Data analysis involves univariate analysis. t was found that 83.12% of surveyed transgender women are under the age of 35, with 80.52% having a secondary education. 71.43% of them work in salons, and 83.13% identify themselves as Acehnese. Only 50.65% have partners, although 58.44% exhibit a positive attitude towards VCT services. However, 55.84% face stigma and discrimination. Approximately 53.25% of respondents rate VCT facilities positively, but only 54.55% utilize the service. 33.33% have used VCT for 3 years, primarily at health centers, with partner rejection being the main obstacle (34.29%). While 84.42% correctly identify VCT, there are still misunderstandings, such as simultaneous testing and counseling (79.22%). Additionally, only 62.34% are aware of the voluntary nature of HIV testing, and only 50.65% understand the affordability and lifelong treatment of HIV.

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Caregivers play a crucial role in seeking timely treatment for individuals with mental disorders. However, reliance on traditional healing practices often leads to delayed medical care. This study aims to identify predictors of caregivers' treatment-seeking efforts, focusing on the role of stigma, motivation, relationship with the patient, and mental health literacy. Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 301 caregivers of patients with mental disorders was conducted in two mental hospitals using cluster sampling. Variables studied include sociodemographic factors, caregiving burden, stigma, social support, motivation, mental health literacy, and treatment-seeking behavior. The data were collected through validated questionnaires as instruments. Multivariate regression analysis was performed to identify significant predictors of treatment-seeking behavior. Results: The study revealed that caregivers' relationship with the patient, perceived stigma, caregiving motivation, and mental health literacy significantly predicted treatment-seeking behavior (p < 0.05). Mental health literacy emerged as the strongest predictor (β = 0.349), followed by motivation (β = 0.202), stigma (β = -0.125), and relationship with the patient (β = -0.108). Together, these variables explained 23.4% of the variance in treatment-seeking efforts. Conclusions: Mental health literacy is the most influential factor in caregivers' efforts to seek medical treatment. Interventions aimed at increasing mental health literacy and reducing stigma are critical to enhancing caregivers' engagement with formal healthcare services. Findings support the development of culturally appropriate education and support programs to improve mental health outcomes.

Abstract

Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic is currently engulfing almost the entire world, including Indonesia. As of August 12, 2021, there were 3,774,155 positive cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia, 24,709 new cases and 113,664 deaths. The group of maternal is a vulnerable group, where there are 4.9% of pregnant women who are confirmed positive for COVID-19 from 1,483 confirmed cases that have accompanying condition data. Therefore, maternal, perinatal, postpartum and newborns are vulnerable targets for transmission of COVID-19 infection and this condition is feared to increase maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. The general objective of this study was to determine the effect of the anxiety level of pregnant women on the choice of place of delivery during the COVID-19 period. This study used a survey method with a cross sectional approach. The study was conducted in Aceh Barat Regency, in March-June 2021. The population in this study were 637 third trimester pregnant women in 2021. The number of samples in this study was 246 samples calculated by the slovin formula and using accidental sampling technique. Data analysis used logistic regression test. The results of the bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant effect between the level of mild anxiety and the choice of place of delivery during the COVID-19 pandemic with a value (OR=5.6, 95% CI=2.04-15.3, p-value=0.001), . While the level of moderate anxiety had no significant effect on the choice of place of delivery during the Covid-19 period (OR=2.1, 95% CI=0.4-12.4, p-value=0.383) The level of severe anxiety in pregnant women was also not significant. effect on the choice of place of delivery during the Covid-19 period (OR=1.1, 95% CI=0, p-value=0.989). Expected to the government can improve education programs and supervision of the prevention and control of the Covid 19 pandemic, especially groups of pregnant women in order to minimize the possibility of excessive anxiety in pregnant women during the Covid 19 pandemic.
