Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between teachers’ professional commitment, well-being, and their adoption of technology in educational settings, focusing on economics educators in Indonesia. As digital integration becomes increasingly essential in teaching, understanding the internal factors that shape educators’ readiness to use technology is crucial. Using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares (PLS), the study analyzes questionnaire data from 207 respondents to examine both direct and indirect effects among the key variables. The findings show that teacher well-being significantly enhances professional commitment, which in turn positively influences technology adoption. Additionally, self-development and pedagogical competence contribute meaningfully to teachers’ willingness to integrate technological tools into their instructional practices. These results extend the application of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT-1) by demonstrating how psychological and professional factors shape technology acceptance in educational contexts. Overall, the study provides important insights for improving teacher training programs, strengthening institutional support, and promoting effective digital integration in economics education. By emphasizing the interconnected roles of well-being, commitment, and competence, the research highlights pathways for enhancing pedagogical innovation and supporting sustainable educational development

Abstract

This study aims to explore the awareness of students majoring in Arabic Language Education and English Language Education at Ahmad Dahlan Islamic University, Sinjai, regarding content generated by artificial intelligence (AI). In today's digital era, many students utilize AI tools to complete academic assignments, but not all are aware of the difference between human-generated and machine-generated content. This study employed a quantitative method with a survey approach, involving 42 students. Data were collected through online questionnaire with Likert scale and were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques, including mean scores and percentage distributions. The result showed that students were quite familiar with the use of AI, especially for translation and grammar correction purposes. However, their level of awareness in critically evaluating AI-generated content, especially in distinguishing between human and machine-generated writing, was in the moderate category. From an ethical perspective, most respondents expressed a positive attitude towards the responsible use of AI in learning and rejected academic dishonesty practices involving the unethical use of AI content. These results suggest that while AI functions as a “friend” by assisting language learning, it also has the potential to become a “fraud” when students lack sufficient critical awareness and ethical guidance. Overall, this study concludes that the role of AI in foreign language education depends largely on students’ critical awareness, ethical attitudes, and institutional guidance. Strengthening critical digital literacy and establishing clear academic policies are therefore essential to ensure responsible AI integration.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Qanun No. 3 of 2021 concerning Baitul Mal in Aceh Province using the SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) approach to evaluate its contribution to economic development, particularly in poverty alleviation, MSME empowerment, and improving community welfare. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method by collecting data from the annual reports of Baitul Mal Aceh, BPS Aceh statistics, and in-depth interviews with Islamic economic experts and stakeholders. The findings reveal that the Qanun provides a strong legal framework; however, zakat collection has only reached 6% of the potential IDR 1.5 trillion in 2024, limiting its impact on poverty reduction (a decline from 15% in 2023 to 14.5% in 2024). The productive zakat program has proven to increase beneficiaries’ income by 15% (IDR 14.13 billion distributed to 4,895 MSMEs), although unequal distribution and limited human resources remain major constraints. The study implies the need for institutional reform of Baitul Mal by enhancing transparency, digitalization, and inter-unit coordination. Policy recommendations include the development of a digital zakat platform, training 200 certified amil between 2025–2027, and harmonizing fiscal policies with the central government to recognize zakat as a deductible from income tax.

Abstract

In the era of globalisation, corporations are often involved in criminal acts such as corruption and money laundering, making it important to understand the role of beneficial ownership principles in corporate criminal law in Indonesia. This study aims to analyse the application of beneficial ownership principles, the challenges faced, and their implications for accountability and transparency in corporate governance practices. This study uses a normative research method with a legislative and conceptual approach. The results show that although Presidential Regulation No. 13 of 2018 requires the disclosure of beneficial owners, there is still ambiguity in the definition and a lack of strict sanctions that hinder the effective application of this principle. Identifying beneficial owners can increase transparency and accountability, but challenges in law enforcement remain, including complex ownership structures that make it difficult to identify responsible individuals. This study recommends legal reforms to strengthen corporate responsibility and improve law enforcement understanding of the application of the beneficial ownership principle.

Abstract

The threat of cocoa fruit borer pests (Conopomorpha cramerella) has caused a significant decrease in cocoa productivity in Indonesia. The massive use of synthetic insecticides by farmers has a negative impact on the environment and products. This study aims to formulate an effective and sustainable integrated pest control strategy for cocoa plants in Kodeoha District, North Kolaka Regency, Indonesia. Qualitative and quantitative descriptive research methods were used, with the data analyzed using regression analysis to measure yield loss and SWOT analysis to formulate control strategies. The results show that the most appropriate control strategy is the Grow and Build strategies, which focus on the utilization of internal strengths and external opportunities. This strategy includes increasing the capacity of farmers, providing adequate facilities and infrastructure, and increasing training and mentoring. The implementation of this strategy, combined with the latest control technologies such as biological agents and pheromones, is expected to increase farmers' independence and ensure the sustainability of cocoa production.

Abstract

Abstract

The tradition of tahlilan, particularly the practice of commemorating the 100th day after death, is a living phenomenon in Indonesian Muslim communities. This ritual is seen as a form of respect for the deceased as well as a means of strengthening social solidarity, but it has been criticized by some Islamic legal scholars because there is no direct recommendation for it in the texts of the Qur'an and Hadith. This study attempts to reinterpret the 100-day tahlilan practice from the perspective of contemporary Islamic legal thought, by examining the position of this tradition in classical Islamic law, contemporary responses to it, and the important role of the concepts of 'urf, bid'ah, and maqāṣid al-sharī'ah in determining the legitimacy of this practice. Using a normative-empirical qualitative approach, the study finds that tahlilan is strongly rooted as 'urf shahih in society as long as it does not conflict with sharia, and can be reviewed through the maqāṣid approach to develop accommodative contemporary ijtihad. These findings highlight the urgency of contemporary Islamic legal thought that is contextual and inclusive of local traditions within the framework of sharia.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Higher Education (PTKI) governance in Southeast Sulawesi, particularly in Kendari, through the lens of reputation risk management. Employing a qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis, this study investigates institutional understanding of reputation risk and its governance mechanisms. The findings reveal a significant gap: while institutional leaders prioritize "normative legitimacy" through accreditation, there is a profound absence of formal risk management frameworks and dedicated units. Furthermore, the study identifies a disconnect between media influence and institutional response, where traditional assessment models overlook the volatility of social perception. Practical Implications: The study underscores the urgent necessity for PTKI to formalize risk governance by establishing dedicated Risk Management Units and integrating reputation risk into their long-term strategic planning. Institutions should shift from reactive crisis management to proactive mitigation by developing comprehensive risk maps and enhancing stakeholder literacy regarding institutional regulations. These steps are critical to ensuring institutional resilience and maintaining competitive advantage in an increasingly digitalized and scrutinized higher education landscape.
