Abstract

Traffic density at junctions without signal often causes congestion and lowers the performance of the transportation network. This research aims to design intersections so that the length of vehicle queues can be reduced. The case study was conducted at the intersection of Urip Sumoharjo Street, Gunung Bawakaraeng Street, Masjid Raya Street and Maccini Baru Street. This type of research is a case study using methods namely quantitative. The research was carried out with direct observation in the field to collect geometric data of intersections, traffic volume, and traffic speed. The results of the analysis show that the use of vissim software can help design the reduction of traffic density at intersections without signal. It was found that the high traffic density, especially at peak hours in the afternoon (using the gas station entrance) is Queue Counter 1 (Masjid Raya Street-Urip Sumoharjo Street) along as 167m and in Queue Counter 2 (Masjid Raya Street-Gunung Bawakaraeng Street) along as 262m. Research results show that changing the road type from 4/2 D to 6/2 D can reduce the length of the vehicle queue. By using the Queue Counter feature in Vissim Software, Queue Counter 1 (Masjid Raya Street-Urip Sumoharjo Street) is 108m and Queue Counter 2 (Jalan Masjid Raya-Jalan Gunung Bawakaraeng) is 182m. This solution can help analyse traffic density and improve the performance of the transportation network in the area.

Abstract

The selection of the appropriate type of scaffolding plays a crucial role in determining project cost efficiency, work safety, and completion time. This study aims to analyze and compare the cost and installation duration between frame scaffolding and ringlock scaffolding used in the pier head construction of the Makassar New Port Access Road Project Phase 1 and 2, in order to provide recommendations for similar future projects. The research employed a descriptive comparative method with a case study approach, collecting field data to analyze differences in total cost and installation duration between the two scaffolding systems. The results show that ringlock scaffolding offers advantages in terms of installation ease and flexibility in adapting to various structural forms. Although its rental cost is higher than frame scaffolding, it provides greater efficiency by reducing installation time and labor costs. The monthly rental cost of ringlock scaffolding was Rp111,434,756.40 with an installation duration of 4.25 days, while frame scaffolding cost Rp63,508,060.00 with an installation duration of 9.40 days. The cost difference reached Rp47,926,696.40 (43%), and the installation duration difference was 5.15 days (54.79%). Therefore, ringlock scaffolding is considered more efficient for projects with tight schedules.

Abstract

Although LMS-based online assessment is widely used, there is a paucity of empirical research studies that have investigated its multidimensional validity from students’ perspectives, especially in Indonesian higher education. The proposed cross-sectional survey research examines students’ perceptions of the validity and quality of online assessment in the English Education Department at Universitas Halu Oleo (UHO) delivered through the E-Green SPADA (Moodle-based) course platform. The study conceptualizes perceived validity based on multidimensional and argument-based validity frameworks that are prominent in contemporary research. A 25-item questionnaire (5-point Likert scale) that included construct validity, assessment fairness, feedback & support, learning impact, and affective impact was administered to a stratified random sample of 120 students during the final week of the semester. Exploratory factor analysis showed a five-factor structure (KMO = 0.89; Bartlett χ²(300) = 1650.3, p < .001), which explained 68.2% of the total variance, with acceptable internal consistency (α = .76–.89). The descriptive results showed that construct validity (M = 4.21, SD = 0.61) and assessment fairness (M = 4.08, SD = 0.65) were highly rated, while feedback & support received relatively low scores (M = 3.49, SD = .79). Feedback & support was the strongest predictor of overall perceived validity (β = .458, p < .001) in multiple regression analysis, and the full model accounted for 62.7% of the variance (R² = .627). These findings provide support for the consequential facet of validity in that the prompt, comprehensive, and accessible feedback can influence students’ confidence in online assessment. The research adds evidence from the Indonesian EFL higher education context and highlights the importance of LMS design features, instructor training, and feedback literacy programs that facilitate dialogic and responsive feedback practices.

Abstract

The digital transformation in higher education requires universities to provide not only reliable technology-based academic services but also physical facilities that support the student learning experience. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Academic Information System (SIAKAD) e-Service Quality and campus facilities on institutional image, with student satisfaction as an intervening variable. The study employed a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. Data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire from 80 active students of STIMI-YAPMI Makassar selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using validity and reliability tests, path analysis, and the Sobel test to examine the mediating role. The results showed that e-Service Quality and physical facilities had a positive and significant effect on student satisfaction and institutional image. E-Service Quality had the most dominant influence on student satisfaction. Furthermore, student satisfaction was shown to mediate the effect of e-Service Quality on institutional image, but not the effect of physical facilities on institutional image. These results indicate that e-Service Quality shapes institutional image through student experience and satisfaction, while physical facilities act as a reputational symbol that directly influences image. This research provides theoretical contributions in the development of higher education service management models as well as practical implications for higher education managers in formulating strategies for improving service quality and strengthening the institution's image in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of scientific dichotomy in Islamic education which separates revelation and reason. This study aims to reconstruct the philosophy of Iqra' in Surah Al-'Alaq verses 1–5 as the foundation of Islamic education epistemology. This is a library research utilizing thematic exegesis and philosophical approaches. The results show that the philosophy of Iqra' contains three main epistemological principles: (1) Theocentric integration, where the source of knowledge (science and religion) originates from Allah; (2) Validation of scientific methods symbolized by Al-Qalam (pen/research) alongside revelation; and (3) Axiological balance between intellectual intelligence and spiritual awareness. The implications of these findings demand a transformation of the Islamic education curriculum towards integration and a shift in academic culture from rote learning to a research tradition to produce the Ulul Albab generation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Big Snake and Ladders instructional media on elementary school students’ learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The participants were fifth-grade students of SDN Glundengan 02 Wuluhan Jember, with class VA as the experimental group (n = 24) and class VB as the control group (n = 23). Data were collected through pre-test and post-test learning outcome assessments. Normality test results indicated that all data were normally distributed (Sig. > 0.05), and homogeneity tests confirmed equal variances between groups (pre-test Sig. = 0.209; post-test Sig. = 0.772). Descriptive analysis revealed that the experimental group achieved a higher post-test mean score (M = 75.63, SD = 12.71) compared to the control group (M = 70.43, SD = 12.78), with a mean difference of 5.19 points. The independent sample t-test showed a statistically significant difference (t = 3.395, Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 < 0.05). These findings indicate that Big Snake and Ladders instructional media significantly improve elementary students’ learning outcomes and can be effectively integrated into classroom instruction.
