Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of self-adjustment of new students in the Guidance and Counseling Study Program, University of Jambi, Class of 2025, in the learning environment. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach using a survey method. A total of 115 students were selected as the sample through total sampling technique, using a Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using descriptive percentage technique. The results showed that the overall level of self-adjustment was in the high category with an average of 64.49%. By indicator: overt performance 62.13% (high), adjustment to various groups 67.32% (high), personal satisfaction 63.95% (high), and social attitudes 66.01% (high). However, the ability to manage pressure only reached 39.47%, falling into the low category. These findings indicate that although most students have adapted well, some still face difficulties in managing psychological pressure during their transition to higher education. Abstract

This study aims to describe community perceptions of gender equality within families in Tangkit Village, Muaro Jambi Regency. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with three informants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion-drawing techniques. The results indicate that the community of Tangkit Village generally hold positive perceptions regarding gender equality. The community supports women’s rights to education, employment, and participation in family decision-making. However, the division of roles within the family still tends to follow traditional patterns that place men as the primary breadwinners and women as the primary caregivers for domestic work. Additionally, the influence of patriarchal values remains evident in several aspects of family life. This study concludes that the community’s perceptions of gender equality have led to more equitable relationships, although practices are still influenced by traditional gender norms and constructs.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the persistence of bullying behavior in schools, which may negatively affect students' social and psychological development. One factor believed to influence such behavior is self-concept. This study aimed to determine the level of students’ self-concept, the level of bullying behavior tendencies, and the influence of self-concept on bullying behavior tendencies among twelfth-grade students at SMA Negeri 12 Kota Jambi. The study employed a quantitative approach using an ex post facto method. The sample consisted of 119 students selected through a simple random sampling technique from a population of 169 students. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using statistical techniques. The results showed that most students possessed a high level of self-concept, while the tendency toward bullying behavior was categorized as low. Furthermore, the findings indicated that self-concept had a significant influence on students' bullying behavior tendencies. Students with a more positive self-concept were less likely to engage in bullying behavior. These findings highlight the importance of developing a positive self-concept as one of the preventive efforts to reduce bullying behavior in the school environment. Abstract

This study was motivated by the low level of student engagement in mathematics learning at SMP Negeri 03 Kota Jambi. The problem was indicated by students’ limited participation during classroom activities, low motivation in learning, and relatively poor academic achievement. Self-efficacy, defined as students’ belief in their ability to complete academic tasks, was considered an important factor influencing student engagement in learning activities. Therefore, this study aimed to identify students’ levels of self-efficacy, determine the level of student engagement, and examine the effect of self-efficacy on student engagement in mathematics learning. This research applied a quantitative approach using an ex post facto method. The population consisted of 315 students from grades VII, VIII, and IX, while the sample included 176 students selected through simple random sampling using the Slovin formula. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. The Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients were 0.712 for self-efficacy and 0.760 for student engagement. Data analysis techniques included descriptive statistics and simple linear regression analysis. The findings revealed that students’ self-efficacy was categorized as good, with an average score of 57.5. The regression analysis showed that self-efficacy had a positive and significant effect on student engagement, with a significance value of 0.000 and a regression coefficient of 0.553. These findings indicate that higher self-efficacy contributes to greater student engagement in mathematics learning activities. The results are expected to help schools design effective guidance programs that improve students’ confidence, participation, motivation, and involvement in mathematics learning more effectively.
