Abstract

Moral degradation and ethical erosion in the digital era necessitate a realignment between technical competence and spiritual maturity in education. This study aims to analyze strategies for integrating 21st-century skills (the 4Cs: Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication) into Islamic Religious Education (PAI) to foster student character that is adaptive yet deeply religious. Employing a descriptive qualitative design with a case study approach, this research involved three PAI teachers at a State Junior High School in Bandung. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis of Deep Learning-based teaching modules, then analyzed using thematic and content analysis techniques. The findings reveal the phenomenon of "Competence Islamization" as a primary pedagogical strategy. Specifically, Critical Thinking is internalized as the capacity for Tabayyun (verification) to filter hoaxes; Creativity is realized through the utilization of AI for digital Syiar (propagation); Collaboration functions as a mechanism of Ta'awun (mutual assistance) in Quranic literacy; and Communication is framed by the principle of Qaulan Ma'rufan(honorable speech) to maintain digital etiquette. This study concludes that PAI serves not merely to transfer religious knowledge but acts as an ethical foundation that frames students' global competencies. The implications of this study offer a practical model for educators to bridge the gap between digital literacy and moral integrity through meaningful and reflective learning approaches.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency has become a common phenomenon in society. Although various efforts have been made in order to overcome this problem, the behavior of young people to show their existence in these deviant ways is never ending. Apart from creating a space for actualization to accommodate their various interests and talents, the role of parents is very important in dealing with juvenile delinquency. In particular, this article examines the role of parents in overcoming juvenile delinquency from an Islamic perspective. The purpose of this study is to find alternative solutions, especially solutions that come from family influences. Meanwhile, the method used in the research uses a research library, namely analyzing and reviewing various previous scientific articles. The results obtained from this study indicate that the role of parents is very important in overcoming juvenile delinquency. The presence of parents by inviting positive dialogue to their teenage children is needed so that they get exemplary figures from the attitudes and behavior of their parents. In this case, parents also need to teach their children with commendable morals (al-Akhlak al-Mahmudah).

Abstract

Abstract

This article focuses on an inaccurate understanding of Islam that causes hatred, anxiety, and unfounded fear of the Muslim community. On account of this view of Islam, Muslims face hostility, discrimination, intolerance, and racism. This attitude is increasingly seen in mass media propaganda that presents a partial and inaccurate view of the religion. Islam is presented as a violent belief system and is responsible for radicalism and terrorism. The media greatly influences social reality. They function as a spectacle, but they also influence public opinion on a range of issues. The research design of this paper uses literature review with descriptive analysis. The results show that internalizing the Islamic value of rahmatan lil alamin (“being a mercy to the world”) through the media is a solution that can rectify misconceptions about Islam. Along with the foundation of amar ma’ruf nahi munkar (“enjoining the good and forbidding the evil”), the value of “being a mercy to the world” can transform people into educators (muaddib), agents of correct information (musaddid), reformers (mujaddid), unifiers (muwahhid), and fighters (mujahid).

Abstract

The proliferation of digital platforms and social media amid rapid technological transformation is profoundly reshaping students’ psychological dynamics, including emotional regulation, learning motivation, self-concept, and social interactions, thereby generating both opportunities and risks for schooling. This qualitative study synthesizes findings from a systematic literature review and case studies from Indonesian secondary schools to examine teachers’ roles in mitigating digital-era psychological risks while simultaneously leveraging digital affordances. The analysis integrates empirical evidence on social media’s dual impact, showing that positive effects include enhanced access to knowledge and the stimulation of fine-motor creativity, whereas risks encompass heightened anxiety, fear of missing out (FOMO), addictive usage patterns, and reduced gross motor activity. Across the reviewed studies and cases, teachers emerge as pivotal facilitators who apply educational psychology principles, such as cooperative learning, emotion regulation training, and constructive feedback to strengthen students’ resilience, with collaborative interventions involving counselor–parent partnerships contributing to the reduction of emotional distress. Strengthening digital literacy, regulating screen time, and designing balanced learning environments are identified as essential conditions for sustaining students’ psychological well-being. The study concludes that targeted teacher training in digital emotional intelligence and culturally adaptive pedagogical strategies, particularly within Islamic education contexts, is crucial for supporting holistic student development in increasingly hyper-connected educational ecosystems.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in Indonesian senior high schools faces persistent challenges of low student engagement and superficial value internalization, largely resulting from conventional teaching methods that rely on dogmatic delivery and rote memorization. This study aims to evaluate the pedagogical effectiveness of integrating gamification and project-based learning in enhancing student engagement and facilitating authentic value internalization within high school PAI. A qualitative single case study design was employed at a senior high school in Bandung, involving 34 students selected through purposive intensity sampling. Data were gathered through the triangulation of in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and participant observation, then analyzed using interactive thematic analysis. The findings reveal that gamification significantly reduced academic anxiety and increased emotional engagement, creating a psychologically safe classroom climate. This affective readiness was subsequently leveraged by project-based learning, where direct engagement in authentic social projects triggered deep social empathy and spontaneous behavioral commitments that extended beyond academic requirements. The synergy of these methods produced a qualitatively distinct learning experience that facilitated organic value internalization without external pressure. This study contributes to Islamic education scholarship by offering a student-centered pedagogical model that integrates emotional engagement with concrete character actualization, challenging the dominance of conventional rote learning and providing actionable implications for PAI curriculum redesign and teacher professional development.

Abstract

Learning is the process of fostering and developing the maximum human capacity that holds all dimensions of life, both regarding the soul, ideas, and heart that shape human character. But in reality, learning at this time still focuses on vocational aspects, on the contrary character is neglected, so that even the goals achieved have a partial character, not totality. It is fitting for the concept of learning to have a normative and integrative character, because there is a direction to be aimed in accordance with the thoughts of learning practitioners about the expected perfect qualifications of humans, which certainly link the spirit of the Koran in all aspects of life. Therefore, this research shares an overview of the involvement of all aspects of life in forming the concept of a perfect human being formed from the terms Bani Adam, Basyar, Insan, An-Naas, and 'Abdun.. The present study employed a qualitative approach in the form of literature study as a means of collecting data. Based on the study results and analyses, it was found that the ideal human concept established from the terms Bani Adam, Insan, An-Naas, Basyar and 'Abdun is a mention for humans viewed from various aspects, such as historical, psychological, sociological, biological, and theological aspects. In fact, these five aspects indeed indicate the perfection of humans as God's creatures. In particular, the ideal human being is a person who is aware of his status as a servant of Allah, aware of his role and function as khalifatullah, and also aware of his life's purpose to always makrifatullāh. The educational implications of this concept cover goals, roles, functions, principles, educators, students, teaching contents, methods, and educational media. All of those implications must have a positive impact on the mind and heart as a means of increasing all the potentials possessed by humans. Thus, all the components of education are used as a means of strengthening faith, straightening worship, and instilling noble character and conduct towards makrifatullah.

Abstract

The decline in the quality of education in Indonesia is inseparable from the decline in the quality of teachers. Looking at this kind of reality, surely a teacher is required to keep improving his competence well. The purpose of this study is to formulate competencies that must be possessed by PAI teachers, namely religious competence, this competence needs to be developed to carry out their educational duties. Religious competence shows the commitment of PAI teachers as the main criterion so that all problems of educational behavior are faced, considered, solved and placed in an Islamic perspective. This research design uses a qualitative-descriptive approach. The research method used is literature study (literature study). The results of this study indicate that; first, the concept of religious competence with lūl 'ilmi character as a solution to improve the quality of PAI teachers. The word lūl 'ilmi is taken in the concept of the Qur'an which means a person who has knowledge based on reality, has broad insight, his intelligence is able to reach makrifat, and his heart is steadfast in monotheism because he has the level of khayyah like the scholars. Second, religious competence with lūl 'ilmi character has distinctive characteristics that are different from the others, namely that this character has Ilāhiyyah, spiritual and spiritual nuances. This feature covers 6 domains, namely the cognitive domain, the affective domain, the psychomotor domain, the social domain, the ethical realm and the spiritual realm. In conclusion, the main key to the character of lūl 'ilmi for PAI teachers is to create a strong khāyyah against his Rabb, as the cause of the knowledge he has.

Abstract

Cyberbullying poses a serious threat to the mental health of adolescent girls in the digital era. However, global literature on cyberbullying prevention is still dominated by psychological and mental health approaches that focus on risk factors, emotional impacts, and individual interventions. The integration of religious values, particularly Islamic Religious Education (PAI), in strengthening adolescent girls' digital literacy remains relatively limited. This study aims to identify gaps in the global literature and demonstrate the relevance of integrating PAI values in preventing cyberbullying among Muslim adolescent girls. The study employed a qualitative approach with an integrative literature review design, analyzing 42 Scopus-indexed articles through exploratory bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer and thematic analysis of PAI, the Qur'an, and Hadith literature. The results show that cyberbullying studies are still dominated by publications from Western countries and the fields of Medicine and Psychology, with a primary focus on risk factors, psychological impacts, and mental health-based interventions. Keyword co-occurrence analysis also indicates that discussions on religious values, spirituality, and preventive character building are still not a primary focus in the conceptual network of the analyzed research. This study identifies three dimensions of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) values relevant for integration into digital literacy: muraqabah as spiritual awareness (aqidah), hifzhul lisan (verbal communication) and the principle of Iqra' as communication ethics and critical literacy (sharia), and noble morals as a manifestation of expected digital behavior. These findings contribute to the development of a preventive framework based on Islamic Religious Education (PAI) values to strengthen the digital literacy of Muslim adolescent girls in the social media era.
