Abstract

This study presents a comparative simulation analysis of impedance enhancement in a circular UWB microstrip antenna using Defected Ground Structure (DGS) and slot techniques. Three antenna configurations were investigated: a baseline circular antenna, a DGS-loaded antenna, and a combined DGS-slot antenna. All antenna models were designed and simulated using CST Studio Suite with identical simulation conditions to evaluate the progressive effect of each structural modification. The antenna performance was analyzed in terms of S11, VSWR, input impedance, realized gain, radiation efficiency, and radiation pattern. The results show that the combined DGS-slot antenna provides the best impedance-matching performance, achieving S11 below -10 dB from approximately 1.72 GHz to 13.06 GHz, corresponding to a continuous bandwidth of 11.34 GHz. This represents a bandwidth improvement of approximately 223.6% compared with the baseline antenna and 69.3% compared with the DGS-loaded antenna. The optimized antenna also achieves a minimum VSWR of approximately 1.01 at 7.66 GHz and an input impedance of 50.46 + j0.35 Ω near resonance. In addition, the antenna provides a realized gain of 4.735 dBi and radiation efficiency of 79.27% at 7.6 GHz. These results demonstrate the synergistic effect of DGS-slot coupling in improving impedance matching, bandwidth continuity, and radiation performance of circular UWB antennas

Abstract

The research aims to examine the effect of problem-based books that incorporate Papuan local wisdom on students' environmental literacy. A total of 36 students were taught using a problem-based book, which added Papuan local wisdom in the pretest and posttest research designs. They are grade VII students at a state junior high school. A total of thirty items to measure students' literacy abilities were used. The items were handed over to them to be answered twice, namely, before implementation and after the end of learning. Student responses have also been measured at the end of learning. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test. Research findings show that the value of P = 0.033 < 0.005. This finding indicates that there is an effect of using problem-based books added to Papuan local wisdom on students' environmental literacy abilities. There were 83.33% of students responding excellently and 16.67% responding well. There were no unfavorable responses from students as long as they attended the lesson. The excellent response from the students indicated that they were interested and happy to participate in learning using problem-based books, which incorporated Papuan local wisdom.

Abstract

Pengolahan singkong di Desa Sukamelang masih dilakukan secara konvensional dengan kapasitas hanya 45-60 kg per hari per petani, waktu proses 6-8 jam, dan tekstur gilingan tidak seragam sehingga efisiensi dan produktivitas terbatas. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan mengenalkan dan menerapkan alat Singkong Giling Andalan Produktif (SIGAP) berbasis mesin diesel kepada 20 Petani mitra untuk memperkuat hilirisasi cassava dan meningkatkan nilai tambah produk pertanian lokal. Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan pendekatan pemberdayaan masyarakat yang dipadukan dengan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif melalui enam tahapan. Hasil implementasi menunjukkan alat SIGAP mampu meningkatkan produktivitas sekitar 1.567% dari kapasitas konvensional 6 kg/jam menjadi 100 kg/jam dengan tekstur lebih halus dan presisi sehingga mengurangi beban kerja petani. Penerapan teknologi ini berkontribusi pada pengurangan pembakaran limbah kulit singkong yang mencapai 100 kg per hari sehingga membuka peluang pengembangan produk turunan singkong yang bervariasi dan bernilai ekonomi tinggi. Selain itu, hasil evaluasi terhadap buku panduan operasional menunjukkan tingkat efektivitas yang sangat tinggi dengan mean skor 3,64 dari skala 4 yang mengindikasikan bahwa alat mudah dipahami dan dioperasikan oleh pengguna. Alat SIGAP terbukti efektif mendukung peningkatan produktivitas dan mengurangi ketergantungan petani pada jasa penggilingan pihak ketiga sehingga memperkuat kemandirian hilirisasi singkong berkelanjutan di Desa Sukamelang. Strengthening Cassava Downstreaming Using Milling Technology to Increase Food Productivity in Sukamelang Village Abstract Cassava processing in Sukamelang Village is still carried out using conventional methods, with a capacity of only 45–60 kg per day per farmer, a processing time of 6–8 hours, and inconsistent grind texture, resulting in limited efficiency and productivity. This community service initiative aims to introduce and implement the diesel-powered Productive Cassava Grinding Machine (SIGAP) to 20 partner farmers to strengthen cassava downstream processing and increase the value added of local agricultural products. The implementation method employs a community empowerment approach combined with qualitative and quantitative methods through six stages. Implementation results show that the SIGAP machine can increase productivity by approximately 1,567%, from a conventional capacity of 6 kg/hour to 100 kg/hour, with a finer texture and greater precision, thereby reducing the farmers’ workload. The application of this technology contributes to a reduction in the burning of cassava peel waste, amounting to 100 kg per day, thereby opening opportunities for the development of diverse and high-value cassava-based products. Additionally, an evaluation of the operational manual revealed a very high level of effectiveness, with a mean score of 3.64 on a 4-point scale, indicating that the tool is easy for users to understand and operate. The SIGAP machine has proven effective in boosting productivity and reducing farmers’ reliance on third-party milling services, thereby strengthening the self-reliance of sustainable cassava downstream processing in Sukamelang Village.

Abstract

Vibration is one of the essential topics in science education. Pre-service science teachers still often experience difficulties in learning this topic. There are several previous studies related to misconceptions on the topic of vibration. However, research on misconceptions in pre-service science teachers is still limited. This study aimed to analyze pre-service science teachers' misconceptions on the topic of vibration. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The research instruments include a four-tier test and interviews. The participants in this study consist of 96 pre-service science teachers from a university in Bandung, Indonesia. The results of the analysis showed that pre-service science teachers who had Scientific Knowledge were 31.1%, lack of knowledge 26.9%, misconception 8.0%, false positive 1.8%, and false negative 2.2%. The most common misconception found relates to the relationship between frequency and mass. The perception of pre-service science teachers regarding the four-tier test questions is very easy 0%, easy 6.7%, neutral 36.7%, difficult 53.3%, and very difficult 3.3%. The findings show that many pre-service science teachers still have misconceptions about the topic of vibration so lecturers should strengthen the concepts of Fundamental Physics first before students take advanced physics courses.

Abstract

This research was conducted to obtain an initial design for a laboratory practical tool based on bifocal modeling assisted by an ESP32 microcontroller for kinetic gas theory. This study was conducted to obtain an initial design for a practical laboratory tool based on bifocal modeling assisted by the ESP32 microcontroller on the kinetic theory of gases. This study was conducted descriptively through a literature review of various book articles and materials. Interviews were conducted with students and physics teachers in high schools (9 students and two teachers in Malang, 15 students and three teachers in Bandung) in Indonesia. Interviews were conducted to obtain an overview of the application of physics learning and reveal other potential problems students and teachers face. The design of the bifocal modeling tool developed has been consulted with physics and ICT learning experts. The results are that it needs to be further developed and maintained until the manufacturing stage. Bifocal modeling based on the design developed in this study has the potential to facilitate students to conduct scientific experiments related to the kinetic theory of gases. Based on the equipment to be developed, it is expected that students will be able to observe macroscopic gas phenomena through actual experiments, monitor microscopic phenomena visualized through computer models, collect data in actual experiments and computer simulations, and compare data. Students' understanding of the concept of the kinetic theory of gases has the potential to be improved by conducting practical work using bifocal modeling-based tools.
