Abstract

The effect of sample size on GRM parameters based on the correlation between items Abstract: Item response theory has many advantages in determining the instrument's item characteristics when the sample size used is large. On the other hand, if the sample size is small, the IRT tends to be less accurate in determining an instrument. This study aims to determine the effect of sample size on GRM based on the inter-item correlation matrix of initial data. This research was conducted on simulation research based on empirical data. Secondary data from 43 respondents was used as initial data. The effect accuracy of the new sample size was calculated using RMSE and correlation. The data generation method used was the multivariate method of discrete random variables. The results show that the RMSE value is around 0.6 > 0.33, and the correlation of about 0.5 < 0.7 did not meet the standard of accuracy. It could be concluded that the sample size with the same inter-item correlation matrix has no effect on the GRM parameters, and the new data generated couldn’t be used for GRM parameter recovery.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Penskalaan, thrustone, kompetensi kepribadian guru Comparison of the Thurstone Scale method in measuring teacher personality competence Abstract: The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of the results of scaling the teacher's personality competency instrument on the Thurstone type using the seemingly equivalent and successive interval methods. The approach in this study uses descriptive quantitative. The research subjects were 62 teachers in Tasikmalaya Regency with different teaching level characteristics. The instrument for measuring teacher personality competence was adapted from the previous article, which had been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used was to determine the S and Q values on the Thurstone scale, then tested the new reliability using the KR 20 equation and the standard error of measurement using the classical test theory. The results of the Thurstone scale analysis using the values of S and Q indicate that there are ten items of statements that are discarded, and there is a change in the order of the items in the interval method that looks equal and successive intervals. The results of the new reliability test for the interval method seem equivalent. The estimated coefficient value is 0.83 with a standard error of measurement of 1.49, while the reliability for successive intervals is 0.83 with a standard error of measurement of 2.57. The results of the analysis at each step show that the score of the results of the scaling on the interval method looks equal will be different from the sequential interval method.

Abstract

Validity testing of elementary students' character assessment instrument using CFA and Aiken’s V   Abstract: This study aims to develop and evaluate the validity and reliability of a character assessment instrument for elementary school students based on 18 character values established by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture. The instrument was tested on 258 students in Pandak District, Bantul, using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Aiken’s V. A purposive sampling technique was employed. The results showed that all items demonstrated high validity and excellent reliability, with a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.902. The study also compared two scoring methods—with and without scaling—and found that scaling did not significantly affect the instrument’s validity. These findings support the effective use of the instrument without scaling. In conclusion, the developed instrument meets the criteria for validity and reliability and is suitable for accurately measuring students’ character. It is recommended that the instrument be further tested at different grade levels and analyzed using additional methods to enhance its quality.
