This study aims to analyze the role of BUMDes in increasing community income and village development in Kualuh Hilir District, North Labuhanbatu Regency (Labura), from an Islamic business ethics perspective. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation of BUMDes administrators, village governments, and beneficiary communities. The results show that BUMDes in Kualuh Hilir District has contributed to increasing Village Original Income (PADes), providing employment, and empowering the local economy, although it still faces challenges in governance, human resource capacity, and financial transparency. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of audiovisual learning media in improving fifth-grade students’ learning outcomes on the topic of the human digestive system at SDN Banyuajuh 5. The study was motivated by students’ low learning achievement and difficulties in understanding abstract material, therefore audiovisual media were utilized to create a more engaging, interactive, and understandable learning process. This research employed the Kemmis and McTaggart Classroom Action Research model consisting of two cycles, including planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The participants of this study were 22 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through interviews, observations, tests, and documentation, and data were analyzed using mixed descriptive analysis, combining quantitative percentages for student mastery and qualitative descriptive analysis for classroom. The findings revealed that the implementation of audiovisual learning media effectively improved students’ learning outcomes, as indicated by the increase in the average scores from 65 in the pre-cycle to 77.27 in cycle I and 89.09 in cycle II. In addition, students’ motivation, participation, and activeness in the learning process also increased significantly. Therefore, audiovisual media can be considered an effective learning tool to enhance students’ understanding and achievement in science learning.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of perceived green value, Islamic environmental ethics, halal brand trust, and modest fashion consciousness on the purchase intention of green halal fashion products among Indonesian millennial Muslim consumers. Using a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected via a structured questionnaire from 385 millennial Muslim fashion consumers (aged 18–38 years) in six major cities in Indonesia. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling, and the data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0 software. The results indicate that green perceived value, Islamic environmental ethics, halal brand trust, and modest fashion consciousness have a significant positive effect on purchase intention. The model as a whole explains 61.4% of the variance in green halal purchase intention (R² = 0.614). A mediation test revealed that Islamic environmental ethics partially mediates the relationship between halal brand trust and green perceived value. This study concludes that green perceived value and Islamic environmental ethics are the most influential determinants of purchase intention for green halal fashion products, and formulates the Green-Halal Fashion Triangle model as an integrative conceptual framework.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the key determinants driving the growth of the middle class in Indonesia through the lens of Islamic economics, with particular emphasis on education, Islamic capital market investment, and Islamic bank financing. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilizes multiple linear regression analysis on time series data spanning from 2021 to 2024, processed using SPSS 25. The findings reveal that all three variables exert a statistically significant and positive impact on middle-class expansion. Education contributes to human capital development and employability; Islamic capital market investment fosters asset accumulation and equitable wealth distribution; and Islamic bank financing enhances access to productive capital, particularly for small-scale entrepreneurs and transitioning lower-income households. Collectively, these factors account for 87.4% of the variance in middle-class growth, underscoring their pivotal role in shaping the Islamic economic ecosystem. The results underscore the imperative to elevate financial literacy, broaden inclusive education, and improve the accessibility of Sharia-compliant financial instruments to accelerate and sustain middle-class advancement. Future research is encouraged to incorporate sociocultural and regional variables—such as urban-rural dynamics, religious practices, and digital financial behavior—to capture more nuanced influences and further validate the resilience of the Islamic economic model in fostering inclusive development

Abstract

Economic growth is a key indicator of regional economic performance, yet it remains vulnerable to macroeconomic fluctuations caused by inflation, financial intermediation, and labor market conditions. This study aims to analyze the short-run and long-run effects of inflation, Islamic bank financing, and the unemployment rate on economic growth in Medan City. A quantitative research approach was employed using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) with 40 quarterly secondary data observations covering the period from 2016 to 2025. The Granger causality test identified a unidirectional relationship from economic growth to the unemployment rate and from inflation to Islamic bank financing. The long-run VECM estimation revealed that inflation has a significant negative effect on economic growth, whereas in the short run it exerts a significant positive effect due to moderate demand-pull inflation. Islamic bank financing and the unemployment rate showed no significant partial effects in either the short run or the long run. The Impulse Response Function indicated that inflation shocks initially generated negative responses before converging toward equilibrium, while unemployment shocks produced gradually diminishing positive responses. Variance Decomposition confirmed that economic growth is primarily explained by its own innovations, with unemployment contributing the largest external shock. These findings imply that maintaining price stability and strengthening the informal labor sector are essential for enhancing the long-term macroeconomic resilience of Medan City.

Abstract

This research investigates the challenges in business growth faced by Rumah Makan Rani in Laugendek, Berastagi, especially the drop in customer numbers due to limited menu innovation and weak online promotion. The goal is to analyze both internal and external factors contributing to this decline, focusing on operational and customer-related issues, and to create strategies for business improvement based on the maslahah hajiyyah principle. The study uses a qualitative method, employing SWOT analysis, with data gathered from semi-structured interviews with the business owner and customers, as well as direct observations conducted over two weeks. The results show that the strengths of Rumah Makan Rani lie in its authentic local flavors, halal-certified ingredients, and excellent customer service. However, weaknesses were found in its limited menu variety and low use of digital marketing, which has led to fewer repeat customers compared to competitors offering more diverse menus and better online presence. The research identifies opportunities for business expansion, such as the growing public interest in local cuisine and the increasing popularity of social media platforms, while challenges include fierce competition and rising costs of raw materials. Based on these insights, the study suggests that the business should diversify its menu and leverage digital platforms like Instagram and Facebook to share updates and engage customers. This research aims to offer practical recommendations for small culinary businesses to create sustainable models that bring greater social and economic value to the community.
