Abstract

This study aims to analyse the successful implementation of Project Based Learning (PjBL) model in Physical Education, Health and Recreation (PJKR) study programmes in higher education. The PjBL model is considered suitable for achieving comprehensive learning objectives in the field of PJKR, but its success needs to be studied more deeply. This literature review includes a review of the concepts and characteristics of the PjBL model, as well as its potential in the context of CHDR in higher education. Various supporting factors and challenges that influence the implementation of PjBL in CHDR learning are identified through literature analysis. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the PjBL model in CHDR can increase students' active involvement, develop holistic competencies, and encourage meaningful and contextualised learning. However, careful planning, infrastructure support, and the role of competent lecturers are needed to achieve successful implementation. In addition, challenges such as time allocation, project management, and appropriate assessment must be overcome for the PjBL model to be implemented effectively. This study concludes that the implementation of the PjBL model in CHDR in higher education has great potential, but requires comprehensive preparation and strategies to ensure its success. Recommendations for future research include empirical studies on the impact of PjBL implementation on the learning outcomes of PJKR students.

Abstract

Based on initial observations and interviews with lecturers teaching athletics courses, it was found that students' critical thinking skills in learning athletics were still low. This is caused by several factors, including: 1) the teaching materials used are still too lecturer-centred and have not encouraged students to think critically, 2) the learning methods applied do not involve students actively. This study aims to analyse the need for developing problem-based learning (PBL) based athletic teaching materials to improve students' critical thinking skills. The research method used is research and development with the ADDIE model which consists of 5 stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research subjects were physical education students at one of the universities in Central Java. Data collection techniques used interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The results showed that: 1) The needs analysis of PBL-based athletic teaching materials shows that teaching materials are needed that can improve students' critical thinking skills; 2) The design of PBL-based athletic teaching materials is arranged based on the curriculum and student characteristics; 3) The teaching materials developed have been declared valid by material experts and media experts; 4) The implementation of PBL-based athletic teaching materials has proven effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. The conclusion of this study is that PBL-based athletic teaching materials can improve students' critical thinking skills.

Participants were divided into small groups for hands-on practice, receiving guidance and feedback from instructors. Skill evaluation ensured participants understood correct and safe techniques. Real-condition simulations allowed participants to role-play as massage service providers, enhancing their confidence in handling clients professionally. The program resulted in high participant satisfaction levels, with the highest satisfaction in the practice and simulation sessions. Participants showed significant improvement in understanding and applying sport massage techniques, and increased readiness to practice their skills professionally. Abstract

This research examines the role of the teacher as a facilitator in the learning process from the perspective of educational psychology. This role reflects a shift from traditional teaching methods towards a more interactive and student-centred approach, in line with constructivism theory which emphasises the importance of active learning and students' personal experiences. In addition, the social and collaborative aspects of learning are recognised through the creation of a learning environment that supports interaction and cooperation between students, in line with social constructivism theory. Finally, the teacher as facilitator also plays an important role in providing emotional support and constructive feedback, which contributes to students' emotional well-being and the improvement of the learning process. Thus, teachers‘ adoption of the facilitator role can enhance learning effectiveness and develop students’ skills and attitudes that are essential for their future success.
