Abstract

Before the progress of the times and technology that was increasingly developing and rapidly as well as intense business competition, experts highlighted the important role of performance in organizations to improve the sustainability of life based on the promotion of leadership styles. This research aims to provide additional information on companies operating in the distributor sector in implementing leadership styles to improve organizational performance. This research uses quantitative methods. The population in this study was 261 workers in the distributor industry in Batam City. All research has met the criteria for validity and reliability. The results of the research state that Innovative leadership significantly affects both organizational performance and organizational identification, but not when organizational identification acts as a mediating factor. Second, organizational performance and identification are not significantly impacted by transformational leadership. The same holds if organizational identity acts as a mediator. It was discovered that organizational identity significantly affects organizational performance and that strategic leadership styles do not significantly affect organizational performance. Thus, it can be said that while leadership style has a significant impact on organizational performance, not all leadership philosophies are appropriate for usage in a given setting.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of workload and organizational commitment (OC) on the turnover intention (TI) of the millennial generation in Batam City, Indonesia, with job satisfaction (JS) as a mediator. Furthermore, the distribution of questionnaires to 413 respondents through a survey occurs.  To analyze the data, this study employs a structural equation model based on variance, and the statistical testing results demonstrate some things. Firstly, workload positively affects TI. However, OC does not influence TI. Secondly, workload negatively stimulates JS. Unfortunately, OC positively affects JS. Thirdly, JS negatively affects TI. Finally, JS can mediate the influence of workload and OC on TI. These circumstances indicate that workload is a leading factor in enhancing turnover intention. Employees with high workloads become stressed and dissatisfied with their tasks. Based on these outcomes, the firms need to lessen assignments to prevent turnover intention and upsurge their working satisfaction by generating a comfortable and supportive work environment.

This research uses various methods to test hypotheses regarding variables that may influence the performance of Generation Z employees in Batam City. Quantitative research methods were used on 385 respondents as research samples. The collected data was checked for outliers, evaluated for data validity and reliability, checked for traditional premises (normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity), and fit for hypotheses. In Batam City, Generation Z, leadership and wage variables significantly boost employee performance, while training, motivation and work environment factors do not match the results of the hypothesis analysis

Abstract

This research aimed to find out how the work environment and employee competence influence the performance of employees who work at the People's Credit Bank or BPR Batam City by using motivation variables as mediation. The research used a population of 5 BPRs, ranked 1 to 5, regarding the profit and loss of all BPRs in Batam City. From this population, 210 samples were taken. The sampling technique that will be used is proportionate stratified random sampling or samples taken randomly from a population that is not homogeneous and proportionally stratified, and the research data analysis method used is Partial Least Square (PLS) using SmartPLS software. The research results show that the work environment and employee competence influence the mediating variables, namely motivation, and motivation also positively influences employee performance. Then, the results further show that the work environment and employee competence do not significantly influence employee performance. The limitation experienced when conducting research is that the population taken is limited to BPR employees in Batam City, and other variables can still influence the research results.

Abstract

Employee engagement and performance are critical drivers of organizational success, yet many firms still rely heavily on extrinsic motivators such as compensation. This study investigates the effects of leadership, compensation, human resource management (HRM) practices, knowledge sharing, and organizational culture on organizational performance, with work engagement as a mediating variable. The research was conducted among 386 employees working in marine supply companies in Batam, Indonesia, using purposive sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software. The analysis included convergent validity, reliability, and mediation testing through a bootstrapping procedure of 5,000 subsamples. Results indicate that leadership, HRM practices, knowledge sharing, and organizational culture have significant positive effects on work engagement and organizational performance, while compensation shows no significant influence. The findings support Herzberg’s Motivation-Hygiene Theory and Social Exchange Theory, emphasizing that intrinsic motivators and positive workplace relationships play a more substantial role in enhancing engagement and performance than financial rewards. The study offers both theoretical and practical implications for improving employee engagement and fostering sustainable organizational growth.
