Abstract

The government prioritizes the availability of electrical energy, especially in the industrial sector and urban areas, but the infrastructure to provide access to electricity in rural areas, especially street lighting, is still very lacking as a result of the need for a different energy source to overcome this problem. Solar cells are power plants that can convert solar energy into electricity, but most solar panels are installed statically which results in less than optimal absorption of solar energy. The purpose of this research is to make a prototype solar tracking based on the Arduino Mega 2560 microcontroller with the fuzzy logic method with an LDR sensor as a light sensor and a servo motor as a driver so that the solar panel can track the movement of the sun to get the maximum light intensity. The results of this study there are four test conditions which indicate that the percentage of the comparison value of solar panels statically and tracking in cloudy conditions is 34.07% while the test in cloudy sunny conditions is 25.603%.

Abstract

In this paper, a robust flux and speed observer for sensorless control of a double star induction motor is presented. Proper operation of vector control of the double star induction motor requires reliable information from the process to be controlled. This information can come from mechanical sensors (rotational speed, angular position). Furthermore, mechanical flux and speed sensors are generally expensive and fragile and affect the reliability of the system. However, the control without sensors must-have performance that does not deviate too much from that which we would have had with a mechanical sensor. In this framework, this work mainly deals with the estimation of the flux and speed using a robust state observer in view of sensorless vector control of the double star induction motor. The evaluation criteria are the static and dynamic performances of the system as well as the errors between the reference values and those estimated. Extensive simulation results and robustness tests are presented to evaluate the performance of the proposed sensorless control scheme. Furthermore, under the same test conditions, a detailed comparison between the proposed state observer and the sliding mode-MRAS technique is carried out where the results of its evaluation are investigated in terms of their speed and flux tracking capability during load and speed transients and also with parameter variation. It is worth mentioning that the proposed state observer can obtain both high current quality and low torque ripples, which show better performance than that in the MRAS system.

Abstract

Flight control design of unmanned aerial vehicles UAVs is becoming increasingly important due to advances in computational power of computers with lower cost. The control algorithms are mainly employed for the attitude and position control of the UAVs. In the past decades, quadrotors have become the most popular UAVs, their adaptability and small size. They are employed to carry out tasks such as delivery, exploration,  fumigation, mapping, surveillance, rescue mission, traffic monitoring, and so on. While carrying out these tasks, quadrotor UAVs face various challenges, such as environmental disturbances, obstacles, and parametric and non-parametric perturbations. Therefore, they require robust and effective control to stabilize them and enhance their performance. This paper provides a survey of recent developments in control algorithms applied to attitude and position loops of quadrotor UAVs. In addition, the limitations of the previous control approaches are presented. In order to overcome the relative drawbacks of the previous control techniques and enhance the performance of the quadrotor, researchers are combining various control approaches to obtain the hybrid control architecture. In this study, a review of the recent hybrid control schemes is presented.

Abstract

A new theory is proposed to achieve desired set of values for an engineering system based on a single algorithm that consists of all optimization algorithms. This algorithm considers an engineering system's main variables, dimensions, and functions; all these parameters will be set and tuned by a systematic search in the main library. This single algorithm automatically selects an optimization algorithm suitable for a particular optimization problem. Additionally, this theory, which was inspired by the idea of bargaining theory and Noorulden Basil theory, referred to as NB Theory, can be done using MATLAB Software.

Abstract

The development of science and technology will increasingly have an impact on human life, especially electronic devices at home. In-home reservoirs, commonly, the owner of the water pump cannot detect the level of the water reservoir in his house due to no automation in the water pump. This study seeks to design a device that can control one water pump for filling three reservoirs, where the reservoir filling path will be regulated by a solenoid valve. It also aims to increase the efficiency of electrical energy in the water pump and be monitored by homeowners. The research was conducted at Yulihamri's rented house on Merak Sakti Road. In testing the measurement of electrical energy without using a control, the results obtained in the first reservoir of 1253.99 Wh, 2072.83 Wh, and 2136.27 Wh in the first, second, and third reservoirs, respectively. Meanwhile, in testing the measurement of electrical energy using the control system, the results obtained on all reservoirs in sequence are 1234.70 Wh, 1754.52 Wh, and 1644.12 Wh. The electric energy efficiency of the water pump after using the control system enhance by 15%. The contribution of this research is to reduce the use of excessive electrical energy due to the filling of water that exceeds the storage capacity so as to make it inefficient for the use of electrical energy as well as the water released. The research also limits the use of electrical energy at the end of the month, which makes this system more efficient compared to other systems.

Abstract

Energy management becomes essential when distributed energy sources such as solar, wind, and fuel cell are connected in a micro-grid. In this paper, using a combination of two powerful neural network tools and fuzzy logic, intelligentization, and adaptation of droop control along with voltage and current control as one of the most common methods of decentralized control is done. One of the essential features of this method is its fast performance and the need for telecommunication infrastructure. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive control system that enables proper operation in both upstream and island network modes for both AC and DC microgrids. The proposed method is simulated to evaluate its effectiveness. The proposed structure, by adapting the control system by ANFIS structure, can properly distribute power between distributed products in a brilliant way and without the need for operators and costly telecommunications infrastructure in the face of severe disturbances such as change. The state between the connection and the island or fault occurrence ensures the stability of both the AC and DC parts of the microgrid. The results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract

Drought is still common in Indonesia, especially in the prolonged dry season while the world's clean water reserves are only around 3%. Groundwater is a renewable natural resource, but overexploitation can cause problems such as sink holes, land subsidence, and seawater intrusion, therefore, the design of filling water tanks and automatic height meters is made as an effort to save water.  these automatic water tank measurements use the Internet of Things method accessed through Blynk. An internet of things-based tool measurement system with a water level principle uses an ultrasonic HC-SR04 sensor to measure Blynk's integrated water level, using the Nodemcu ESP8266 microcontroller as the main control. The overall result of the design of the tool, the water topping up process is shown in units of percent, the ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04 displays the actual distance and water level to Blynk in cm.

Abstract

This study evaluates the performance of three control systems, namely the root locus method, type-1 Mamdani fuzzy logic system (FLS), and interval type-2 Mamdani FLS, in noise-free and noisy ball and beam systems. The main contribution of this study is enabling improved design and implementation of control systems in real-world applications by offering a comprehensive understanding of each control system's performance. The methodology involves conducting four tests focusing on various input types, including a 0.8-meter step input and sine wave function, and assessing the presence of noise in the system. The performance of each control system is analyzed using parameters such as rise time, setting time, and percentage overshoot, with the interval type-2 Mamdani FLS further examined by varying footprint of uncertainty values. Results from noise-free tests reveal that the root locus method has shorter rise and setting times, but a higher percentage overshoot compared to the type-1 Mamdani FLS and type-2 Mamdani FLS. In noisy environments, the type-2 Mamdani FLS with varying Footprint of Uncertainty values outperforms the type-1 Mamdani FLS with reduced rise time, setting time, and percentage overshoot. The root locus method shows a significantly higher percentage overshoot in noisy conditions compared to the other two control systems. In conclusion, the type-2 Mamdani FLS control system demonstrates superior capability under changing conditions compared to the type-1 Mamdani FLS, with its performance varying based on footprint of uncertainty values. This study highlights the importance of selecting the appropriate control system depending on specific needs and environmental factors.
