Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology and information has led to a significant increase in smartphone usage in Indonesia, reaching 67.88% in 2022. Smartphones emit non-ionizing electromagnetic waves that may pose biological effects, particularly on the kidneys, which play a crucial role in maintaining the body's homeostasis. Previous studies have reported that electromagnetic radiation can induce histological damage in the kidneys through oxidative stress mechanisms, including tubular narrowing, Bowman’s capsule dilation, and tubular epithelial necrosis. Airplane mode is known to significantly reduce electromagnetic radiation exposure. This study aimed to determine the effect of smartphone radiation in airplane mode on the kidney histology of female mice. An experimental design was employed using four female mice divided into one control group and three treatment groups, which were exposed to a smartphone in airplane mode for 4, 6, and 8 hours per day for 7 consecutive days. Kidney tissues were processed using paraffin embedding and stained with Hematoxylin–Eosin for microscopic examination. The results showed no significant histological differences between the control and treatment groups. The glomerulus, Bowman’s capsule space, and proximal and distal convoluted tubules appeared normal without signs of narrowing, dilation, hemorrhage, or necrosis. These findings indicate that smartphone radiation in airplane mode does not cause histological damage to the kidneys of female mice.

Abstract

Penyakit layu bakteri yang disebabkan oleh Ralstonia solanacearum merupakan salah satu kendala utama dalam budidaya tomat dan nilam karena mampu menurunkan produktivitas secara signifikan. Penggunaan agen hayati seperti pseudomonas berfluoresen menjadi alternatif pengendalian yang lebih aman dan ramah lingkungan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kemampuan antagonis tujuh isolat bakteri endofit pseudomonas berfluoresen yang berasal dari akar pisang buai dalam menghambat pertumbuhan R. solanacearum yang menginfeksi tomat dan nilam. Penelitian memakai pendekatan deskriptif-kuantitatif dan dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Biologi FMIPA UNP pada Agustus–November 2025. Isolat pseudomonas berfluoresen dan R. solanacearum diremajakan pada media selektif, kemudian diuji antagonismenya menggunakan metode swab pada medium MHA. Suspensi patogen distandarkan pada McFarland 0,5, sedangkan isolat antagonis diinokulasikan secara titik. Zona hambat yang terbentuk setelah inkubasi 24 jam diukur menggunakan jangka sorong dan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya variasi kemampuan penghambatan antar isolat. Pada patogen tomat, isolat PfB305, PfB309, PfB311, dan PfB322 menghasilkan zona hambat yang relatif besar, sedangkan PfB32, PfB51, dan PfB52 tidak menunjukkan aktivitas antagonis. Pada patogen nilam, tiga isolat yang sebelumnya tidak aktif pada patogen tomat justru menghasilkan zona hambat, sementara empat isolat lainnya tidak membentuk zona hambat. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa efektivitas pseudomonas berfluoresen dipengaruhi oleh spesifisitas isolat terhadap patogen serta potensi produksi metabolit antibakteri

Abstract

Pendahuluan: Tumbuhan Obat merupakan tumbuhan yang digunakan sebagai bahan baku pengobatan dalam mengatasi penyakit. Tujuan penelitian: Mengetahui jenis-jenis tumbuhan obat, organ tumbuhan yang digunakan serta khasiat dan cara penggunaannya di Nagari Mungka. Metode : Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif eksploratif. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 23 responden. Analisis data secara kualitatif dengan dukungan pustaka ilmiah, kemudian data yang diperoleh disajikan dalam bentuk tabel. Hasil : ditemukan 39 jenis tumbuhan obat yang terdiri dari 29 familia. Tumbuhan obat yang banyak ditemukan yaitu familia Euphorbiaceae, Fabaceae, Lamiaceae masing-masing sebanyak 3 species, Organ tumbuhan yang banyak digunakan adalah daun. Cara pengolahan tumbuhan obat yang digunakan dengan cara direbus, dibakar, digiling atau dihaluskan, dihancurkan, dan diremas. Sedangkan untuk pemanfaatan tumbuhan obat ada yang diminum, diurut, diusap, dioles, dtempel, digosok dan dikonsumsi langsung. Kesimpulan : Masyarakat di Nagari Mungka masih memanfaatkan tumbuhan sebagai obat tradisional.

Abstract

Influenza A virus (IAV) is a pathogen that attacks the respiratory tract in humans and animals, which can be a threat to public health. This virus has a number of genes that are targeted by PCR for diagnostic detection purposes, one of which is the matrix gene. Detection of the matrix gene in the Influenza A virus from DNA/RNA genetic material can be done using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technique. One of the stages that determines the success of the PCR process is the annealing stage, for which the optimum temperature and cycle are required for primer attachment in the annealing stage. This research is a descriptive study towards an experiment conducted in June 2025 at the Bacteriology Laboratory of the Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) KST. Soekarno Cibinong. The results obtained showed that the optimum temperature for matrix gene amplification in the Influenza A virus using the forward primer FluAV M-U44 and reverse primer FluAV M-L287 was 53.5 °C, 54 °C, and 54,5 °C and 35 cycles were evidenced by the formation of a fairly bright band in the electrophoresis results.

Abstract

Coronavirus merupakan virus RNA untai tunggal positif yang memiliki keragaman genetik tinggi dan mampu berevolusi melalui mutasi serta rekombinasi. Kelelawar diketahui sebagai reservoir alami coronavirus karena memiliki sistem imun yang unik serta karakteristik ekologi yang mendukung penyebaran virus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mensintesis berbagai hasil penelitian mengenai karakteristik dan distribusi coronavirus pada kelelawar. Metode yang digunakan adalah literature review dengan mengumpulkan artikel dari Google Scholar, PubMed, dan ScienceDirect dalam sepuluh tahun terakhir. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa coronavirus pada kelelawar memiliki keragaman genetik yang tinggi, terutama pada kelompok Alphacoronavirus dan Betacoronavirus, serta tersebar luas di berbagai wilayah, khususnya Asia Tenggara. Beberapa penelitian juga menunjukkan adanya potensi transmisi lintas spesies (spillover) yang dipengaruhi oleh adaptasi virus dan faktor lingkungan. Kesimpulannya, kelelawar berperan penting dalam menjaga keragaman dan distribusi coronavirus, sehingga diperlukan pemantauan yang berkelanjutan untuk mencegah munculnya penyakit zoonotik di masa depan.

Abstract

Kebutuhan energi yang terus meningkat mendorong pengembangan sumber energi alternatif yang lebih ramah lingkungan, salah satunya biogas yang dihasilkan melalui proses fermentasi anaerob bahan organik. Limbah peternakan seperti kotoran sapi memiliki potensi besar sebagai substrat biogas karena kandungan bahan organiknya yang tinggi. Selain itu, cairan rumen sapi yang kaya akan mikroorganisme dan enzim pendegradasi bahan organik diduga dapat berperan sebagai inokulum untuk meningkatkan efisiensi proses fermentasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh variasi volume cairan rumen sapi terhadap produksi biogas berbasis kotoran sapi. Metode yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan tiga perlakuan, yaitu tanpa penambahan cairan rumen (P1), penambahan 160 mL cairan rumen (P2), dan penambahan 320 mL cairan rumen (P3), masing-masing dengan dua ulangan. Fermentasi dilakukan selama 20 hari dalam kondisi anaerob dalam reaktor dengan balon karet sebagai penampung gas. Volume biogas diamati setiap 5 hari berdasarkan perubahan volume balon. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan produksi biogas seiring bertambahnya volume cairan rumen yang digunakan. Perlakuan P3 memberikan hasil tertinggi dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya, diikuti oleh P2 dan P1. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa cairan rumen berpotensi meningkatkan aktivitas mikroorganisme dalam proses degradasi bahan organik menjadi gas metana sehingga berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan produksi biogas.

Abstract

Escherichia coli is a gram-negative bacterium and a key indicator of water and food contamination. Conventional PCR is a widely used molecular method for specific, rapid, and sensitive E. coli detection. This literature review systematically examines the application of conventional PCR in E. coli detection across water, food, and clinical sample matrices from 2017 to 2025. Thirteen scientific articles were reviewed regarding research objects, PCR methods, research stages, and findings. Conventional PCR using primers 16E1/16E2 (584 bp), Afa FP/RP (480 bp), and ESS (825 bp) effectively detected E. coli in diverse samples. PCR showed superior sensitivity (100%) and specificity (94.34%) compared to culture methods (Hariri, 2022). Direct PCR offered a cost-effective alternative without DNA extraction (JKG, 2025). Multiplex PCR enabled simultaneous detection of multiple virulence genes (Ekawati et al.; Microbiology Spectrum, 2024). Conventional PCR remains a reliable, specific, and rapid tool for E. coli detection across diverse sample types.

Abstract

The development of learning materials such as digital-based supplement books needs to be done regarding the lack of integration of COVID-19 in biology subjects. Students need to dig up information about COVID-19 through scientific literacy and solve problems through critical thinking. Data collection techniques in this study consisted of a questionnaire. From the data collection, the instruments needed in this study include validation sheets by experts. The data were analyzed quantitatively to determine the category of validity and deepened with a qualitative analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the book. Based on the results of validation by validators or experts, the COVID-19 preventive supplement book is generally very valid with the average validation score of the four validators being 93.8. The feasibility of the material is also determined by its quality. The material contained in the supplement book must also be adapted to current scientific developments, of course, related to COVID-19. The book developed is predicted to be very useful and supportive in learning biology, especially relevant materials such as material on viruses, the respiratory system, and the immune system. The feasibility of the book has been supported from the aspect of appearance, content, and language which was revised in such a way after validation.

Abstract

This study aims to produce a valid biology module based on emotional spiritual quotient (ESQ) in an evolution topic for senior high school students grade XII. This conducted research used the Plomp development method. In this model, there were three steps established, such as; preliminary research, developing or prototype phase, and assessment phase. For implementation validity, the research subjects were a biology teacher and five biology lecturers. The instrumentation used were; interview questionnaire, self-evaluation sheet, and validity questionnaire. The obtained data analyzed by qualitative and quantitative methods. From the research, yield a new biology module with ESQ based in evolution lesson for senior high school students grade XII. Based on the expert review, obtained the score of validity 3.71 which indicated very valid criteria.

Abstract

This research aims to produce learning videos on circulation system material and the digestive system in humans that are valid, practical, and effective. The type of research used is development research using the Plomp development model. The development stage of this model starts from the initial investigation stage, the development or prototyping stage, and the assessment stage. The instruments used in this development research were teacher interview guideline instrument sheets, student response questionnaire sheets, self-evaluation sheets, and learning video validation sheets by experts, as well as learning video practicality assessment sheets filled out by teachers and students. The results of developing learning videos obtained very valid products with a value of 88.71%. The practicality of teachers and students is very practical with scores of 93.3 and 89.75%. The effectiveness test of this learning video is effective because based on the T-test conducted, there is a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class, namely the significance of 0.026, which means that the use of learning videos has an effect on improving student learning outcomes.
