Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the self-strength counseling model in developing student academic expectations. The study was conducted using a single-subject experimental design to measure the relationship between 2 variables, namely self-strength counseling and academic expectations. The type of design used is the A-B-A design, where there are three experimental phases, namely phase A is the baseline phase and phase B is the intervention phase. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive statistical techniques because the study has a single case (single subject). The number of subjects in this study was limited, namely only five students. The results showed that self-strength counseling was effective in increasing student academic expectations after the intervention process. The study results can be used to reference counselors in higher education to improve student academic expectations through the self-strength counseling model.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal ‘hope' of Indonesian adolescents especially in Bantul regency of Special Region of Yogyakarta. Data were gathered from 106 adolescents consisting of 38 males and 68 females (16 -18 years old) from high schools.The instruments of this study was a hope scale in the form of semantic deferential scale ranged from 1 to 8 (1= very inappropriate, 8 = very appropriate). The data analysis of this study was descriptive statistics. The result of the study showed that the hope of female students is higher than male students. In agency thinking, male students are higher than female students, otherwise, in pathways thinking, female students are higher than male students. Based on the parents' occupation, those who work in private sector have high hope. Conversely, the students whose parents are farmers have a low hope. The lowest scale of pathways thinking was obtained by the students whose parents are farmers as well as in the agency showed that the students whose parents are labours obtained the lowest scale

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the school of peace in the perspective of students in vocational schools. School peace suspected as one of the factors that will determine the formation and behavior of student achievement in school. The narrative method chosen in this study whereas the focus of the study follows the excavation methods offered by Mishler. The study conducted showed that every student has no experience of peace in schools. However, students can receive no peace until he lost condition at meal time. The findings further that there are three things that make students not peaceful, the rules of the school, peer relationships, and the demands of parents and schools.

Abstract

Abstract. The study aimed to produce a self-report instrument using a cultural intelligence scale for Guidance and Counseling teachers. It employed Research and Development design adopting the model of Adam and Wieman (2011). Operationally, the development of the instrument was divided into five stages, 1) determining the question format; 2) determining the question construction; 3) determining the guidance of assessment, expert judgment, and revision of the question; 4) expert judgment by the experts of culture and instrument development; and 5) analyzing instrument using the Rasch model. Data analysis showed that in the development of cultural intelligence instrument: 1) the instrument construct was correctly determined, and it could measure one variable of Guidance and Counseling teachers' cultural understanding; 2) there were five items of cultural intelligence instrument categorized as very difficult and five items were in the very easy category; 3) all items of cultural intelligence instrument of Guidance and Counseling teachers were fit, meaning that it functioned normal, could be understood by the Guidance and Counseling teachers, and can measure what it should measure; and 4) The Cronbach Alpha was 0,96, indicating that the instrument was in the Very Good category with the Person Reliability of 0,92 and Item Reliability of 0,99. Therefore, based on the Rasch model analysis, the cultural intelligence instrument of Guidance and Counseling teachers, which was developed, had fulfilled the set standard and Good criteria, and it could be used to collect data about the cultural intelligence of Guidance and Counseling teachers.

Abstract

This study was aimed at eliciting facts of peaceful conditions experienced by students in the environment of Pesantren-based schools, positively and negatively, and revealing the students’ mentality in the face of the school rules. The study was done in Madrasah Aliyah (Mualimin) Pesantren Persatuan Islam (PPI) 76 Tarogong, Garut. The study used the narrative method based on the data collected by questionnaires, interviews, observation, and literature study using interactive analyses. Findings show that the synergy of school rules, curriculum contents, teachers, facilities and infrastructures, and other internal elements of the pesantren-based school actualized a unified peaceful life atmosphere which is significant for students, individually or communally. The spiritual and religious foundation of the education has a solid structure in building pillars of peacefulness within the students. Internalization of awareness towards human roles and duties and life guidelines taught by Islamic teaching scaffolds the formation of the strong harmony between students’ attitudes and school rules, preventing students from discipline mentality that is weak and superficialMENTALITAS DAMAI SISWA DAN PERATURAN SEKOLAH BERBASIS PESANTRENPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggali fakta-fakta kondisi damai yang dialami para siswa dalam lingkungan sekolah berbasis pesantren, baik positif maupun negatif dan mengungkapkan mentalitas mereka dihadapkan dengan peraturan sekolah. Penelitian dilakukan di Madrasah Aliyah (Mualimin) Pesantren Persatuan Islam (PPI) 76 Tarogong Garut. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode naratif berdasarkan data-data yang dikumpulkan dengan teknik kuesioner, wawancara, dan studi literatur yang menggunakan analisis interaktif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sinergitas peraturan sekolah, muatan kurikulum, para pendidik, sarana dan prasarana, serta elemen internal lain dari sekolah berbasis pesantren tersebut membangun satu keutuhan kondisi atmosfer kehidupan sarat damai yang cukup signifikan bagi para siswa, baik individual maupun komunal. Fondasi spiritual dan keagamaan dalam pendidikan memiliki struktur yang kokoh dalam menyusun pilar kedamaian dalam diri siswa. Internalisasi kesadaran fungsi dan tugas manusia serta pedoman berkehidupan yang diajarkan agama (Islam) sangat menopang terbentuknya harmoni sikap siswa terhadap peraturan sekolah yang kokoh, yaitu terhindar dari mental disiplin yang rapuh dan ragawi semata

Abstract

bstrak Anak usia dini menempati posisi strategis dalam rentang perkembangan individu sepanjang hayat.  Dari berbagai perspektif keilmuan, pemerintah dan masyarakat begitu antusias merespon asumsi ini dengan menfasilitasi perkembangan anak usia dini dalam wadah PAUD. Fenomena menunjukkan adanya disparitas antar PAUD pada jalur pendidikan formal dan jalur pendidikan nonformal, baik pada aras sumber daya maupun pengalaman belajar yang dikembangkan. Filosofi Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) menjadi mengemuka sebagai jawaban terhadap praktik-praktik dalam PAUD yang diduga agak menyimpang dari koridor perkembangan anak. DAP sebagai kerangka pikir yang lebih komprehensif dalam PAUD diprediksi mampu menjembatani anak untuk tumbuh dan berkembang secara alami dan sehat.  Kata kunci: Developmentally Appropriate Practice, PAUD, Developmentally Inappropriate Practice, miskonsepsi.

Abstract

Procrastination refers to delaying the task of timely completion. Procrastination is a common behavior, especially in school settings and in student behavior. Academic procrastination is one of many types of delaying behavior that almost everyone shows from time to time. Academic procrastination is regarded as a domain-specific form of self-regulation failure. The purpose of this study is to describe the tendency of academic procrastination of students of Mechanical Engineering Education Department class of 2014, 2015, and 2016 with, gender and GPA. This study was conducted as a condition to obtain a Bachelor of Education degree. The research method used in this research is quantitative approach with descriptive research design. The instrument used in this study is to adopt the instrument developed by Solomon and Rothblum in 1984 called Procrastination Academic Scale Students (PASS). The results of research on mechanical engineering department students found that academic procrastination tendency is at the level of sometime procrastinator. The highest level of academic procrastination in the class of 2014, and no significant differences were found based on gender and GPA on student academic procrastination.

Abstract

Learning is an important factor for students. The need to learn does not make students able to learn and understand the meaning of learning well. The academic flow could be a support in the learning process of students and students are able to study seriously and live the learning process. Based on the search for various sources, it is known that the aspects of flow consist of absorption by activity and fluency of performance. The results of this study could be used as a reference for students and educators to increase learning success and education quality

Abstract

The task of development is a task that must be completed properly by each individual. The task of development is always in the individual life phase. The task of development that should be priorized is the task of the development of the final child because in it contains the discovery of his identity so that it will affect adolescence and adelt life later. Based on the search for various sources, it is known that the developmental tasks are so many depending on the psychological figures that make it and are influenced by environmental factors. The results of this study can be used ad a reference for parents, teachers, and further research.

Abstract

Strength of hope defineted as a positive motivational state that obtained from an interactive derived sense of successful agency (goal-directed energy), and pathways (planning to meet goals). The study used a qualitative aproach with narrative methods and One Project before-and-after design. The result of the research finds that strength based skill training can result in increased strength of hope from students through the characteristics of high agency and pathway thinking in participants. In general, strength of hope in student has greater aspect on agency or the motivation to achieve happiness in family and social support.
