Abstract

This study evaluates students' emotion regulation ability during the first three years of study with a qualitative experimental approach in a within group design. The instrument used was James J. Gross' Emotion Regulation, which was translated into Bahasa Indonesia. This instrument includes two main aspects: Cognitive Reappraisal (6 items) and Expressive Suppression (4 items), with a total of 10 items. The validity and reliability of the instrument were tested using Rasch modeling through the Winsteps application. The results of the validity analysis showed 8 items were valid and 2 items required revision. Instrument reliability was measured by Cronbach's Alpha, resulting in a value of 0.79 (Good category) for the overall instrument, and a value of 0.97 (Excellent category) for item reliability. These validity and reliability tests ensure that the data collected is accurate, consistent, and reliable, so that this instrument can be used to measure students' level of emotion regulation. Abstract

This research aims to show that narrative counseling can increase adolescents' self-esteem. The research approach used is mixed-method with an embedded design. The instrument is based on the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory (CSEI) which measures four aspects of self-esteem. The research subjects in this study were 3 high school adolescents in class XI. The results of the research showed that there was a change in self-esteem in the three teenagers, which was indicated by receiving sufficient recognition and feeling worthy, which means that narrative counseling can increase the self-esteem of adolescents who experience self-harm. However, of the three adolescents, one adolescent still committed self-harm with infrequent frequency even though his self-esteem was already in the medium category. This suggests that there are other variables that influence someone to do self-harm, such as self-concept. Apart from that, the factors influencing a person's self-esteem are different. Further analysis is needed regarding these factors.

Abstract

Building hope is necessary so students are not easily discouraged, fragile, and frustrated in an era of competition. Intervention on the power of hope must be given in short sessions because the z-generation is used to short processes. The research aims to describe the Brief Hope Intervention (BHI) pattern to develop students' hope power. The research was conducted using a systematic literature review method. The study results show that BHI is a modification of hope therapy that aligns with the principles of SFBC. BHI was conducted in four sessions: two face-to-face sessions (1 hour) and two follow-up sessions (30 minutes). BHI targets are 1) finding workable goals (goal setting), 2) finding ways to achieve targets (pathway), and 3) positive self-talk to optimize motivation in achieving set goals (agency). In practice, focus on the perception of development and assessment of self-strength. Counselors can use worksheets and questions directed at strengths and resources, especially relational questions.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of the multicultural personality of single sex adolescents of SMA Daarut Tauhiid Boarding Schools Putri. The research used descriptive analysis methods with the help of Microsoft Excel applications and SPSS version 26. The research instrument used the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire (MPQ) measuring instrument made by Van der Zee Van Oudenhoven (2013) with a total of 40 statements measuring 5 aspects of multicultural personality, namely: cultural empathy, social initiative, open-mindedness, emotional stability, and flexibility, data collection using a Likert scale with five alternative answers. The research participants were students of SMA Daarut Tauhiid Boarding School Putri who were teenagers with female gender totalling 150 people. The results showed that single sex school adolescents have a good multicultural personality, while based on aspects of multicultural personality, single sex school adolescents have the highest average in the aspect of cultural empathy, indicating that students already have skills in empathising (understanding and feeling) with the thoughts and feelings of people of different cultures. And the lowest aspect is in the aspect of open mind, indicating that students do not yet have an open and unprejudiced attitude towards different cultural norms and values optimally so that this can be the basis for designing multicultural guidance and counselling programs that can be applied in single sex schools.

Abstract

Emotion Regulation Process for Students Who Perpetrate Self-Injury. Self-injury is a form of intentional behavior to harm oneself in order to reduce psychological suffering. While the majority of individuals try to focus on the problems they face, different things happen to those who tend to hurt themselves. Self-injury is related to students' emotional regulation, because a person's emotional response can take him in the wrong direction and the emotions he feels are not appropriate to the situation. Therefore, researchers aim to determine the process of emotional regulation in students who commit self-injury. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show the emotional regulation process in subjects C and F. The emotional regulation process starts with selecting a situation for the subject until the final process is a change in the subject's response to deciding to carry out self-injury and the subject feels satisfied..Keywords: Self Injury, Emotion Regulation, Students

Abstract

The research was motivated by the inability of students to resolve conflicts constructively, so many cases of conflict between students ended in violence. This study examines the effectiveness of conflict resolution counseling for developing core values of peace in adolescents. This research uses the positivism paradigm, quantitative approach, quasi-experimental method, and non-equivalent pre-test post-test control group design. The research participants were vocational high school students in the city of Bandung, totaling 63 people (32 people for the control and experimental groups), which were determined through a purposive technique. The data collection tool is a questionnaire on the core values of peace based on the U NESCO -APNIEVE Thurstone scale model with a reliability coefficient of 0.92. Data analysis to test the hypothesis using the One-Way ANOVA technique. The calculation results show that F hit = 3.401, at p = 0.070>0.05, dk = 1.58, which means that there was no significant difference in the core values of peace between the control group and the treatment group after conflict resolution counseling intervention. Partially, conflict resolution counseling effectively increases the three core values of peace: tolerance, recognition of other people's souls, and gratitude. The research recommendations are aimed at guidance and counseling teachers in vocational high schools.
