Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the thinking processes of junior high school students in solving mathematical problems based on Bruner's theory in the context of the Pythagorean theorem. The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 7 Kota Jambi in May 2025. Data were collected through classroom observations as preliminary data, followed by questionnaires and problem-solving tests as primary data, and interviews as supporting data. All data were analyzed qualitatively. The findings show that at the enactive stage, most students demonstrated low performance; four students were categorized as poor, one as excellent, and one as good. At the iconic stage, student performance ranged from low to adequate, with one student rated excellent, two rated adequate, and three rated poor. At the symbolic stage, most students demonstrated high performance, with three students rated excellent, two rated good, and one rated poor. These results indicate that although students generally succeed at the symbolic stage, weaknesses at the enactive and iconic stages suggest that their understanding remains predominantly procedural rather than conceptual. Teachers are encouraged to apply learning strategies that intentionally strengthen all three of Bruner’s representational stages, rather than moving directly to symbolic reasoning without first providing concrete experiences and visual representations. Teachers should also consider students’ diverse thinking processes when designing instruction. Future studies should include larger samples and more diverse methods, such as quantitative or mixed-methods approaches, to further examine how representation-based strategies influence students’ mathematical problem-solving performance.

Abstract

Minat belajar matematika siswa masih tergolong rendah akibat penerapan metode pembelajaran yang kurang menarik dan minimnya integrasi budaya lokal sehingga siswa sulit menghubungkan konsep matematika dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini, maka dikembangkan media pembelajaran komik matematika berilustrasikan Budaya Jambi menggunakan Problem-Based Learning. Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE yakni analyze, design, development, implementation, dan evaluation. Subjek penelitian ini adalah Dosen ahli materi dan ahli desain, guru matematika kelas VII E pada uji coba perorangan, 9 orang siswa kelas VII E pada uji coba kelompok kecil, serta 30 orang siswa kelas VII E pada uji coba lapangan. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa komik matematika ini didesain menggunakan aplikasi ibis paint x dan canva. Komik matematika ini menggunakan pendekatan problem-based learning pada materi kesebangunan dan kekongruenan. Penelitian ini memperoleh hasil validasi yaitu 76% untuk materi dan 82,3% untuk desain. Hasil kepraktisan media menurut guru 97% dan siswa 89,8%. Lalu efektivitas komik matematika diukur melalui nilai N-Gain dengan diperoleh hasil 56,85%, tes hasil belajar yaitu 83,3% dan lembar observasi siswa yaitu 90,8%. Dari perhitungan tersebut menunjukkan minat belajar siswa meningkat dibandingkan sebelum menggunakan komik matematika berilustrasi budaya Jambi menggunakan problem-based learning.Students interest in learning mathematics is still relatively low due to unattractive learning methods and minimal integration of local culture so that students find it difficult to connect mathematical concepts with everyday life. To overcome this, a mathematical comic learning media illustrated with Jambi culture was developed using problem-based learning. This research is a type of development research using the ADDIE development model, namely analyze, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The subjects of this study were lecturers who were material experts and design experts, mathematics teachers of class VII E in individual trials, 9 students of class VII E in small group trials, and 30 students of class VII E in field trials. The results of the study showed that this mathematical comic was designed using the ibis paint x and canva applications. This mathematical comic uses a problem-based learning approach to the material of similarity and congruence. This study obtained validation results of 76% for material and 82.3% for design. The results of the practicality of the media according to teachers were 97% and students 89.8%. Then the effectiveness of mathematical comics is measured through the N-Gain value with the results obtained 56.85%, the learning outcome test is 83.3% and the student observation sheet is 90.8%. From these calculations, it shows that students' interest in learning has increased compared to before using the learning media of mathematical comics illustrated with Jambi culture using problem-based learning.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low mathematical literacy skills of students at SMP Negeri 17 Batanghari. Based on interview results, this condition occurs because the learning process is still teacher-centered and tends to be conventional, without considering differences in students' readiness and learning characteristics. One way to overcome this is by applying the outdoor modeling mathematics model combined with differentiated learning to accommodate differences in student abilities. This study aims to determine the effect of applying the outdoor modeling mathematics model in differentiated learning on students' mathematical literacy skills. This study uses an experimental design with a Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The research population consisted of all seventh-grade students at SMPN 17 Batanghari, comprising five classes. The research subjects involved three seventh-grade classes selected by simple random sampling. These were experiment class I, which applied the outdoor modeling mathematics model in differentiated learning; experiment class II, which applied the direct instruction model in differentiated learning; and the control class, which applied the direct instruction model. The instruments used in this study were a mathematical ability test, an observation sheet on the implementation of learning by teachers and students, and a posttest in the form of a student mathematical literacy test sheet. All instruments were validated through content validity by experts, namely mathematics education lecturers, to ensure the suitability of the instruments with mathematical literacy indicators and learning objectives. In addition, the test instruments were piloted on students with characteristics similar to the research subjects to obtain empirical validity using Product Moment correlation. The reliability of the test instruments was analyzed using Cronbach's Alpha coefficient so that the test instruments were declared reliable and suitable for use in the study. The analysis method applied was one-way ANOVA, followed by a post hoc Tukey test to process the data obtained. The research findings indicate that the use of the outdoor modeling mathematics model in differentiated learning is better at improving students' mathematical literacy skills, while the direct instruction model in differentiated learning does not show significant results when compared to the direct instruction model. In the three sample classes, the implementation of learning by teachers and students was very good. These findings recommend that mathematics teachers apply the outdoor modeling mathematics model in differentiated learning as an alternative to to improve their mathematical literacy skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kesalahan-kesalahan siswa underachiever dalam menyelesaikan soal matematika yang mengalami kesulitan di kelas XI IPA SMA Islam Al-Falah Jambi. Underachiever mengacu kepada siswa yang sesungguhnya memiliki tingkat potensi intelektual yang tergolong di atas normal, tetapi prestasi belajarnya tergolong rendah karena mengalami kesulitan belajar, lambat dalam mengerjakan tugas atau sangat cepat dalam mengerjakan tugas-tugasnya, tapi mereka tidak peduli dengan kualitas tugas yang dikerjakannya itu. Melalui diagnosis kesulitan belajar gejala-gejala yang menunjukkan adanya kesulitan dalam belajar diidentifikasi, dicari faktor-faktor yang menyebabkannya, dan diupayakan jalan keluar untuk memecahkan masalah tersebut. Melalui pengajaran remedial, siswa yang mengalami kesulitan belajar dapat diperbaiki atau disembuhkan sehingga dapat mencapai hasil yang diharapkan sesuai dengan kemampuan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan berdasarkan lembar tes intelegensi, tes diagnostic, dan wawancara. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa yang memiliki kesulitan dalam menyelesaikan soal pada materi turunan fungsi aljabar pada semester genap tahun akademik 2011/2012. Berdasarkan penelitian diperoleh hasil dari lembar tes dan wawancara bahwa siswa yang memiliki IQ 130-140 yang menjadi subjek penulis mendapatkan prestasi kurang atau biasa-biasa saja. Selanjutnya untuk mengetahui kesulitan siswa, dilakukan tes diagnostik materi turunan fungsi aljabar. Pada tes diagnostik tahap I siswa yang menjadi subjek peneliti tersebut melakukan kesalahan yang menjadi penyebab kesulitan belajar siswa yaitu siswa tidak menuliskan rumus dalam menyelesaikan soal, siswa tidak menggunakan bahasa sehari-hari kedalam bahasa matematika, siswa tidak menulis notasi turunan fungsi, siswa salah menggunakan rumus, siswa salah dalam perhitungan yang dilakukan. Siswa tidak dapat menggunakan rumus yang dipakai dan tidak dapat melakukan operasi hitung. Setelah dilaksanakan pembelajaran remedial, siswa tidak lagi lupa menuliskan rumus atau konsep dalam menyelesaikan soal, siswa juga menggunakan bahasa sehari-hari kedalam bahasa matematika, dan siswa tidak lagi salah menggunakan rumus dalam menyelesaikan soal yang diberikan yaitu materi turunan fungsi aljabar. Hal ini terlihat pada saat tes diagnostik tahap II setelah siswa diberikan pengajaran remedial. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran remedial dapat membantu siswa mengatasi kesulitan belajar matematika. Dari hasil penelitian ini disarankan agar guru dapat memahami dan mengatasi kesulitan siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal dan melaksanakan pembelajaran remedial setelah tes dianostik.   Kata Kunci : kesulitan siswa, menyelesaikan soal, siswa underachiever.

Abstract

Perguruan tinggi memiliki tantang yang besar dalam menghadapi era society 5.0. Perguruan tinggi harus membekali mahasiswa dengan keterampilan yang dibutuhkan dunia kerja sehingga lulusan mampu bersaing di pasar global. Keterampilan yang harus dikembangkan diantaranya critical thinking, creativity, collaborative, and communication (4C). Salah satu solusi untuk mengembangkan keterampilan 4C yaitu melalui pembelajaran berbasis Etnomatematika. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk 1) mendesain modul pembelajaran berbasis etnomatematika terintegrasi teknologi Augmented Reality; 2) membuat percobaan virtual pada materi teori bilangan berbasis etnomatematika terintegrasi teknologi Augmented Reality, dan 3) membuat video pembelajaran berbasis etnomatematika untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa pendidikan matematika FKIP Universitas Jambi. Model pengembangan penelitian ini adalah 4-D (Four-D model), tahap pengembangan produk pada model ini yaitu tahap pendefinisian (Define), tahap desain (design), tahap pengembangan (Develop), dan tahap penyebaran (Dissemination). Hasil peneliitan ini menunjukkan bahwa melalui penerapan model pembelajaran case method atau studi kasus mampu mendorong aktivitas mahasiswa dalam memecahkan kasus dari berbagai sudut pandang yang berbeda sehingga memunculkan solusi terbaik.

Abstract

Indonesia’s students continue to show low literacy and numeracy performance. In PISA, Indonesia ranked 68th out of 81 countries with a mathematics score of 379. This study describes eighth-grade students’ mathematical literacy in statistics after differentiated learning implemented through the Outdoor Modeling Mathematics (OMM) model. The study was conducted at SMPN 5 Pelepat Ilir in May 2025 using a qualitative descriptive design. Six students were selected purposively from a class of 33 based on learning readiness: high (S1KBT, S2KBT), moderate (S1KBS, S2KBS), and low (S1KBR, S2KBR). Data were collected through a mathematical literacy test and semi-structured interviews and were analyzed using three literacy processes: formulating situations mathematically, employing mathematical concepts, facts, procedures, and reasoning, and interpreting and evaluating mathematical results. The findings show that all six students met the three processes, indicating a high level of mathematical literacy after the intervention.

Abstract

Almas filed a lawsuit to lower the minimum age requirement for presidential and vice-presidential candidates from 40 to 35 years, arguing that the existing rule contradicts the 1945 Constitution. This lawsuit sparked debate but also created opportunities for young and talented candidates to run for office. The Constitutional Court partially granted the lawsuit through Decision No. 90/PUU-XXI/2023, maintaining the minimum age at 40 but allowing exceptions for those with experience as regional heads. This ruling was controversial as it introduced a new legal interpretation within Indonesia’s constitutional system. This study aims to analyze how Constitutional Court judges interpret the age requirement for presidential and vice-presidential candidates and how the court’s final authority in this decision has become a subject of controversy. The research employs a jurisprudential approach, examining court decisions as primary data and supplementing them with secondary data from literature reviews, the 1945 Constitution, and the Election Law (2017). Findings indicate that Decision No. 90/PUU-XXI/2023 remains controversial as it is perceived to be inconsistent with constitutional and democratic principles. Additionally, several Constitutional Court judges were sanctioned by the Court’s Honorary Council for ethical violations, further fueling the debate surrounding this ruling. Despite the controversy, the decision remains final and binding, while also opening opportunities for younger leaders with prior leadership experience to run for president or vice president before reaching the age of 40.

Abstract

Pemerintahan berencana akan memberikan tunjangan perumahan anggota DPR sebesar Rp50.000.000 per bulan, tunjangan tersebut diatur dalam Surat Sekjen DPR RI Nomor B/733/RT.01/09/2024 Tahun 2024 dan Pasal 7 Undang-Undang No.12. Tahun 1980 Tentang fasilitas Rumah Jabatan Anggota (RJA). Tunjangan DPR tersebut menimbulkan polemik di masyarakat, sehingga menimbulkan dampak kemarahan dan kegaduhan masyarakat secara luas. Permasalahan yang akan dikaji ialah : 1) Bagaimana Konsolidasi Partai Politik Dalam Upaya Pencegahan Polemik Tunjangan DPR ? 2). Bagaimana Reformasi Legistatif Anggota DPR Secara Total Dalam Mewujudkan Demokrasi Goepolitik. Metodologi penelitian penulis merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian library, melalui pendekatan penelitian ; pendekatan studi kasus yang mengamati dan mengkaji kasus polemik kenaikan tunjangan DPR, pendekatan peraturan perundang-undangan yakni Undang-Undang MD3 Nomor 17 Tahun 2014, Pasal 7 Undang-Undang No 12 Tahun 1980 Tentang Fasilitas Rumah Jabatan Anggota (RJA), Surat Sekjen DPR RI Nomor B/733/RT.01/09/2024 Tahun 2024. Pendekatan konseptual dengan menggunakan teori kekuasaan lembaga legislative, teori konsolidasi partai politik dan teori geopolitik global. Hasil penelitian 1) Pembatalan atas aturan kenaikan tunjangan rumah untuk anggota DPR, dipengarui konsolidasi partai politik yang duduk di parlemen. Maka diperlukan upaya pencegahan polemik tunjangan DPR dengan memperkuat sistem peradilan dan membangun rule of law, Pemberantas korupsi dan peramasan asset koruptor, badan legislative professional, desentralisasi parlemen dan partisipasi rakyat. 2) Geografi politik negara terhadap luas wilayah, penduduk, budaya suatu negara akan mempengaruhi politik disetiap negara akan berbeda dalam membuat undang-undang oleh legislative atau parlemen. Legislatif dalam membuat undang-undang (legislasi) berpihak pada kepentingan rakyat bukan kepentingan pribadi partai politik maupun anggota DPR. Permasalahan yang terjadi di legislative anggota DPR yang telah dianggap menurunkan kreditabilitas anggota DPR, maka diperlukan reformasi legistatif anggota DPR secara total dalam mewujudkan goepolitik demokrasi
