Abstract

This study examines the character development of Dory in the animated film "Finding Dory," directed by Andrew Stanton, through the framework of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The research aims to identify the various needs reflected in Dory's character and analyze how the fulfillment of these needs influences her growth throughout the narrative. Utilizing qualitative methods, the study analyzes key scenes and dialogues to illustrate Dory's physiological, safety, belongingness, self-esteem, and self-actualization needs. The findings reveal that while Dory's physiological needs are minimally depicted, her safety needs are evident as she navigates vulnerable situations. Her profound desire for belongingness and love drives her quest to reunite with her family, highlighting the importance of relationships in her character development. Additionally, the study illustrates how Dory's journey enhances her self-esteem and leads to self-actualization as she learns to embrace her identity and capabilities. This research underscores the significance of character education in understanding personal growth and emotional intelligence. The insights gained from Dory's character can serve as a valuable resource for educators and parents, emphasizing the role of films in facilitating discussions about character development and the fulfillment of human needs. The study concludes with suggestions for incorporating character education into curricula and further research opportunities in the field of film analysis and character studies.

Abstract

This study addresses the ongoing moral crisis by examining the implementation of a Love-Based Curriculum in Islamic education as a form of value-based learning. Madrasahs are encouraged to innovate instructional practices to foster students’ spiritual and social development through five core values: love for God and the Prophet, love for knowledge, love for oneself and others, love for the environment, and love for the homeland. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study applies the Living Value Assessment (LVA) as both a reflective and pedagogical instrument within Islamic Cultural History (SKI) learning at Madrasah Aliyah Al Falah. LVA complements Value-Based Education (VBE) by assessing the internalization of values, while VBE provides the educational framework that supports value growth. Data were collected from reflective journals of four students in Grades X and XI. The findings show that LVA effectively identifies the five dimensions of love embedded in the Love-Based Curriculum and can be used by teachers to evaluate value integration in SKI learning.

Abstract

Abstract

In reality, online fraud cases are increasingly prevalent within the Pekanbaru City Police Department, necessitating strict law enforcement. The purpose of this study is to analyze law enforcement in online fraud cases within the Pekanbaru City Police Department and to analyze the actions of the police in resolving online fraud cases within the Pekanbaru City Police Department. The method used is sociological legal research. Based on the research results, it is known that law enforcement against online fraud within the Pekanbaru City Police Department has shown progress, but still faces several obstacles. Legally, this crime is regulated in the Criminal Code and Law Number 19 of 2016 on Electronic Information and Transactions, which provides the legal basis for law enforcement officers to prosecute online fraud perpetrators. The Pekanbaru Police have investigated investigations and inquiries using digital technology, including tracking electronic transactions and identifying the perpetrators' social media accounts. Furthermore, law enforcement also prioritizes victim protection through legal assistance and mediation. However, several significant obstacles remain, including: the difficulty of tracing the perpetrators' identities due to the use of anonymous accounts or domiciles outside the jurisdiction, limited apparatus resources in dealing with technological developments, and slow coordination across relevant agencies such as banks and digital platforms. These obstacles can result in delayed legal proceedings, while victims' losses continue to mount. The Pekanbaru Police's actions in handling online fraud cases include prevention, investigation, prosecution, and law enforcement. In prevention, the Police conduct outreach through social media and educational campaigns to raise public awareness of fraudulent methods. During the investigation and inquiry phase, authorities utilize digital forensics, social media account monitoring, electronic transaction analysis, and coordination with relevant agencies. The City Police also detain eligible perpetrators, confiscate digital and physical evidence, and complete case files for trial.

Abstract

Reconstruction or the strive of rebuilding and developing human resources should not only focused on the improvement of physical skill, but also non-physic sectors like values system, religious norms, and moral values. One of the causes of multidimensional crisis faced by Indonesian people is stemming from their own mistakes in which they give more emphasis on physical development than non-physic. It has to be considered a valuable lesson for society, especially for education organizers. Big physical capital does not guarantee that it can prevent, save, or brighten Indonesian people from crisis when non-physic side of human resources does not become the priority.Copyright © 2013 by Al-Ta'lim All right reservedDOI: 10.15548/jt.v20i2.38

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to design and validate V-LAMOT, a web-based virtual laboratory for three-phase motor starting simulation. The system is intended to address limitations of physical laboratories by providing an accessible and safe environment while maintaining conceptual accuracy and supporting the development of practical motor control skills. Methodology: The study adopted the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) to develop the V-LAMOT platform using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and state-machine modeling. The design was guided by Cognitive Load Theory principles. Data were obtained through expert validation instruments and the System Usability Scale (SUS), and analyzed using Shapiro–Wilk tests, one-sample t-tests, Cohen’s d, and Pearson correlation with 30 students. Main Findings: Expert validation indicated high feasibility, with conceptual accuracy reaching a mean score of 4.50/5. SUS evaluation produced an overall score of 78.83 (“Good”), with learnability scoring highest at 82.00. All usability measures were significantly above the benchmark (p < 0.001) with large effect sizes (d > 0.8). A strong correlation between usability and learnability (r = 0.823) suggested effective cognitive load reduction. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study presents an integrated virtual laboratory that combines state-machine modeling with Cognitive Load Theory-based interface design for three-phase motor control. Unlike conventional simulations, V-LAMOT integrates multiple motor starting methods in one environment and empirically links usability, learnability, and cognitive load reduction, advancing virtual laboratory development through systematic integration of technical accuracy and pedagogical principles.
