Abstract

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is a common cardiac arrhythmia characterized by rapid and irregular electrical activity of the atrium. AF significantly increases the risk of ischemic stroke and mortality. With the increasing prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors, early detection of AF is crucial for effective intervention. Traditional electrocardiogram (ECG)-based detection methods face limitations, especially in asymptomatic patients or those with sporadic episodes of AF. This paper proposes a novel approach using the Queen Honey Bee Migration (QHBM) algorithm to detect AF from heartbeat signals. The dataset comprises both normal and AF heartbeat signals. The data undergoes preprocessing steps, including noise reduction and feature extraction. The system then classifies the signals using the QHBM algorithm. Key features such as heart rate variability (HRV), amplitude, and RR intervals are extracted for analysis. The QHBM algorithm achieved an accuracy of 95.2%, with a precision of 96.1%, a recall of 94%, and an F1 score of 95%. It outperformed traditional classifiers such as Random Forest, Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Naive Bayes across all performance metrics. In addition, QHBM demonstrated a superior ability to distinguish between normal sinus rhythm and AF, showing a significant improvement over the conventional method. Although the results are promising, challenges remain, including data imbalance and false positive and negative classifications. Oversampling techniques and further optimization of feature selection can enhance model performance. The QHBM algorithm presents a highly effective solution for automatic and real-time AF detection, offering a promising alternative to improve cardiac health monitoring systems.

Abstract

Abstract

Efficient energy management in Internet of Things (IoT) devices is critical in dynamic, resource-constrained operational environments. This study proposes the Queen Honey Bee Migration (QHBM) optimization algorithm for managing Li-ion battery performance in IoT systems, employing the Shepherd battery model to simulate the nonlinear discharge behavior under varying load conditions. Three simulation scenarios of increasing complexity (5, 10, and 20 monitoring points) are used to represent urban operational dynamics. The performance of QHBM is quantitatively compared with four conventional optimization algorithms seperti Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Differential Evolution (DE), Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Firefly Algorithm (FA). Results show that QHBM maintains a current range of 3.80–5.20 A and a voltage range of 3.65–3.95 V, with State of Charge (SoC) predictions between 75–98%. It also achieves the fastest computation time (0.42–1.20 seconds) and demonstrates more stable performance under high-load dynamic scenarios compared to the other methods. This approach provides an adaptive and efficient optimization framework to support energy-aware decision-making in IoT systems operating in energy-constrained urban environments.

Abstract

Abstract

This research focuses on optimizing the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method in switching modulation to reduce total harmonic distortion (THD) in a 7-level Cascade H-Bridge Multi-Level Inverter (MLI) topology with triple voltage boosting gain. MLI Cascade H-Bridge is an inverter topology that is widely used in power conversion applications because of its ability to produce high voltage output with low harmonics. However, the resulting THD is still a major challenge in improving power quality. In this research, the PSO method is applied to find optimal parameters in switching modulation that can minimize THD. The research results show that the PSO method succeeded in reducing THD significantly with a THD value of 7.80% whereas the previous THD was 17.27%. The implementation of PSO in switching modulation is expected to be an effective solution for inverter applications in industry and power systems. The THD value from the PSO optimization is stated to be in accordance with IEEE 519 standards with a maximum permitted THD of 8%. This value is better than previous research, namely 17.27%.

Abstract

Covid-19 is a malignant virus that has spread throughout the world, including Indonesia. In Indonesia alone, Covid-19 has proliferated to 502 districts and cities in 34 provinces, including Harjokuncaran Village, Sumbermanjing Wetan District, Malang Regency. Two main issues, community economy problem and inadequacy of health facilities to fight Covid-19, are addressed and mitigated in this work. We offer some solutions, including the production of a disinfectant sprayer and a call to carry out sterilization activities in public places together. The realization of this community service program uses the Dignan method which includes five stages. The initial implementation of this activity, which was carried out on October 5, 2020 has gone smoothly with the help of the community, while the tools that have been fully provided to the residents are used to carry out sterilization activities on a regular basis. Six months after the activity, we evaluated the success of this endeavor. There are three indicators of success in this activity, namely a recapitulation of monthly spraying activities from October 2020 - March 2021, the addition of positive cases of Covid-19, and how much knowledge of residents about the importance of spraying disinfectant activities
