Abstract

This research explores the role of character education in reducing recidivism among former inmates, with a focus on the Class II Penitentiary in Polewali Mandar. The issue of recidivism reflects weaknesses in the rehabilitation and social reintegration of inmates, which can be addressed through character education. Character education aims to develop moral and ethical values, as well as the ability to adapt in new social environments, helping former inmates recognize and correct past mistakes. A qualitative method with a case study approach was used to collect data through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The results show that inmates who participate in character education programs exhibit positive changes in behavior and a decrease in the recidivism rate by 20-30%. The implementation of this program was successful through collaboration between correctional institutions, government, and non-governmental organizations. This research concludes that character education plays a significant role in reducing recidivism and recommends enhancing instructor training, psychosocial support, ongoing monitoring, and community collaboration for the success of the program

Abstract

This study investigates prospective teachers’ perspectives of web-based gamification applications used as classroom learning media. This study used a mixed method. 65 students participated as questionnaire respondents, and among the respondents, 3 students who got more than a 3.85 GPA from the third-year students were purposively chosen to be the participants. They willingly participated as participants in this study. A questionnaire and an in-depth interview are the techniques to gather the data. The results reveal that the participants in this study thought that using web-based gamification applications as learning media was beneficial and influential for them. As learning media, they use web-based gamification applications such as Quizziz, Kahoot, Wordwall, and others in their teaching. Their students find the game attractive and enchanting. Although they are useful media to attract and motivate students in the teaching and learning process, the participants also mark that free access to the game might have a negative impact on both teachers and students. From their perspectives as high achievers’ students, web-based gamification also has a certain role in improving their understanding and maintaining their focus during the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

Abstrak:  Kebhinekaan merupakan nilai fundamental dalam kehidupan berbangsa dan bernegara di Indonesia. Namun, tantangan intoleransi, diskriminasi, dan radikalisme yang berkembang dalam masyarakat menuntut adanya penguatan pendidikan nilai-nilai kebhinekaan sejak dini, khususnya melalui jalur pendidikan formal. Artikel ini memaparkan hasil kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas guru Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan (PKn) SMP dan SMA di Kota Parepare dalam mengimplementasikan pembelajaran berbasis nilai kebhinekaan melalui pendekatan Kurikulum Sekolah Damai. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan meliputi ceramah interaktif, diskusi kelompok, simulasi pembelajaran, serta pre-test dan post-test untuk mengukur efektivitas program. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta terhadap konsep kebhinekaan dalam berbagai skala, baik personal, sekolah, nasional, maupun global. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga mampu membangun kesadaran reflektif guru dalam mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai toleransi, anti-diskriminasi, dan perdamaian dalam pembelajaran PKn. Simulasi data pre-post-test memperlihatkan peningkatan signifikan terhadap pemahaman peserta setelah pelatihan. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan ini menegaskan pentingnya dukungan berkelanjutan dalam penguatan kapasitas guru agar mampu menjadi agen perdamaian di lingkungan sekolah.Kata kunci: Kebhinekaan; Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan; Sekolah Damai; Guru PKn; Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat; Pendidikan Multikultural.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of family language-based parenting patterns on the development of responsibility character among adolescents in the digital era. A quantitative survey method was employed, involving 100 adolescent respondents residing in five regions of Makassar City: Jl. Galangan Kapal, Jl. Tinumbu, Jl. Kandea, Jl. Pampang Raya, and Jl. Abubakar Lambogo. The research instrument used was a closed-ended questionnaire measuring parental language-based parenting tendencies (democratic, authoritarian, and permissive) and adolescents' levels of responsibility character. The findings reveal that the democratic parenting pattern has the most significant impact on the development of responsibility, marked by open communication, logical explanation, and two-way dialogue. In contrast, authoritarian and permissive styles tend to be less effective in fostering adolescent responsibility. Pearson correlation tests showed a significant positive relationship between democratic language-based parenting and adolescent responsibility levels. This study emphasizes the crucial role of healthy family communication practices as a foundation for character education in adolescents, especially amidst the challenges of the digital age.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis transformasi budaya kewargaan di era digital dalam konteks budaya Makassar dan Ambon. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif berbasis systematic literature review, data diperoleh dari sepuluh artikel ilmiah yang relevan mengenai transformasi budaya, kewargaan digital, dan pendidikan kewarganegaraan. Hasil analisis menunjukkan lima bentuk utama transformasi budaya kewargaan: pergeseran dari kewargaan pasif menuju partisipatif, transisi identitas tunggal menjadi majemuk, penguatan budaya inklusivitas, adaptasi kewargaan konvensional menuju bentuk digital, serta pergeseran makna kewargaan dari formalitas hukum menuju etika publik. Nilai-nilai lokal seperti Siri’ na Pacce, Sipakatau, dan Pela Gandong terbukti memainkan peran sentral dalam menumbuhkan etika kewargaan reflektif dan solidaritas sosial di tengah arus globalisasi digital. Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan berfungsi sebagai agen transformatif melalui penerapan kurikulum kontekstual, pedagogi reflektif-partisipatif, dan integrasi nilai lokal dalam bingkai global. Temuan ini memperkuat konsep technological citizenship dan multicultural civic education sebagai kerangka teoritis baru bagi pengembangan kewargaan digital yang beretika dan berkeadaban. Implikasi penelitian menegaskan perlunya penguatan literasi digital, etika publik, dan pendidikan kewarganegaraan berbasis nilai lokal untuk membentuk warga negara yang kritis, adaptif, dan inklusif dalam menghadapi tantangan globalisasi dan digitalisasi.This study aims to analyze the transformation of civic culture in the digital era in the context of Makassar and Ambon culture.. Through a qualitative-descriptive approach based on a systematic literature review, data were obtained from ten relevant scientific articles on cultural transformation, digital citizenship, and citizenship education. The analysis results indicate five primary forms of citizenship culture transformation: a shift from passive to participatory citizenship, the transition from a single to a plural identity, the strengthening of a culture of inclusivity, the adaptation of conventional citizenship to a digital form, and the shift in the meaning of citizenship from legal formality to public ethics. Local values, such as Siri' na Pacce, Sipakatau, and Pela Gandong, have been shown to play a central role in fostering reflective citizenship ethics and social solidarity amidst the flow of digital globalization. Citizenship Education functions as a transformative agent through the application of a contextual curriculum, reflective-participatory pedagogy, and the integration of local values within a global framework. These findings strengthen the concepts of technological citizenship and multicultural civic education as new theoretical frameworks for the development of ethical and civilized digital citizenship. The implications of the research underscore the need to enhance digital literacy, public ethics, and local value-based citizenship education to foster critical, adaptive, and inclusive citizens who can effectively face the challenges of globalization and digitalization.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kesenjangan antara pengakuan hak kewarganegaraan mantan narapidana secara hukum dengan realitas hambatan sosial yang mereka hadapi dalam proses reintegrasi di Kecamatan Campalagian, Kabupaten Polewali Mandar. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus digunakan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan studi dokumentasi. Informan penelitian meliputi mantan narapidana, tokoh adat, tokoh agama, aparat desa, dan pelaku usaha. Analisis data dilakukan secara tematik dengan model interaktif Miles, Huberman, dan Saldaña. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses reintegrasi masih dihambat oleh stigma sosial berbasis nilai budaya siri’, diskriminasi administratif, keterbatasan akses kerja, serta lemahnya implementasi kebijakan. Sanksi sosial yang terinstitusionalisasi menyebabkan mantan narapidana mengalami marginalisasi sosial dan ekonomi. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penguatan pendekatan multidisiplin berbasis budaya, reformasi pelayanan publik yang nondiskriminatif, serta peningkatan koordinasi lintas sektor guna mewujudkan reintegrasi yang berkeadilan dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Mitigation steps to control Covid-19 outbreak in Indonesia need to take. One of those step is forecasting the spread of the disease. This study compare two artificial neural network models in catching the pattern of Covid-19 positive total cases in Indonesia. Data Training used in this study is Indonesian total positive cases of Covid-19 from March 2 until May 26. The next 10 days data become data testing to show the model accuracy in predicting Covid-19 total cases. MLP shows a better prediction comparing to ELM.Three different prediction accuracy measurement is used – MAE, MAPE, and RMSE. All of them shows less value in MLP than in ELM.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan usaha sekolah dalam revitalisasi budaya lokal dalam rangka penguatan pendidikan karakter pada lingkungan sekolah di SMP Negeri 3 Minasa Te’ne Kabupaten Pangkep. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif untuk melihat strategi sekolah dalam menumbuhkan nilai kearifan lokal dalam rangka penguatan Pendidikan karakter di lingkungan sekolah, informan dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari kepala sekolah, guru dan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses implementasi nilai-nilai budaya lokal melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler dilakukan dengan memobilisasi kegiatan-kegiatan organisasi disekolah seperti Osis, Pramuka, PMR, Rohis, dan program ekstrakurikuler lainnya. Organisasi sekolah disetting agar mampu memobilisasi cita-cita dalam rangka membangun karakter dan kepribadian peserta didik sehingga dengan sendirinya akan membentuk pribadi peserta didik yang baik dan santun. hasil pengamatan yang diperoleh melalui observasi langsung pada subjek penelitian terlihat bahwa peserta didik di SMP Negeri 3 Minasa Te’ne menunjukkan pribadi yang baik, jujur, toleransi yang merepresentasikan nilai tabe’ (permisi/sopan-santun) dalam aktivitas sosial disekolah. Selain itu mereka juga menunjukkan sikap bekerja keras, kreatif, inovatif merepresentasikan nilai assamaturu’ (bekerjasama) dalam kegiatan-kegiatan baik dalam belajar dikelas hingga dalam kegiatan berorganisasi. Terlihat juga sikap rapi, peduli lingkungan yang merepresentasikan nilai tangkasa’ (bersih) dalam proses sosial dilingkungan sekolah. Guru berperan sebagai pelaku utama dalam membantu pengimplementasian pendidikan karakter melalui nilai-nilai budaya lokal kepada peserta didik terlihat berdasarkan interpretasi pada deskripsi yang dipaparkan diatas, yaitu dalam mewujudkan fungsinya sebagai motor penggerak dalam merealisasikan strategi-strategi yang dibangun dalam rangka membentuk pribadi-pribadi yang memiliki kompetensi tidak hanya pada ranah kognitif tetapi juga pada ranah spiritual dan emosional melalui kegiatan-kegiatan yang sifatnya membangun karakter peserta didik. Kegiatan yang dimaksud dioptimalkan agar terkonstruksi dengan baik dalam membentuk karakter peserta didik baik melalui kehadiran visual guru dalam kelas atau kegiatan maupun dalam lingkungan pergaulan atau proses sosial yang dijalani.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to enhance teachers' creativity in designing innovative, entrepreneurship-based learning at SMK Negeri 1 Tinambung. Situation analysis revealed that the school’s teaching methods remain predominantly conventional, limiting student engagement and motivation, which is essential for modern educational demands. To address this, the proposed solutions included teacher creativity enhancement training, assistance in integrating technology into teaching, and the formation of an innovative learning community. The program successfully increased teachers' knowledge and skills in applying entrepreneurship-based learning strategies and educational technology, despite time and facility limitations. Results indicate improved teacher ability to create relevant, inspiring lessons, positively impacting students’ learning motivation.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to enhance digital literacy and digital ethics among Generation Z, particularly high school students in grades XI and XII in Wonomulyo, in response to the complex challenges of the information era. As digital naives, Generation Z has broad access to technology but often lacks the critical and ethical skills necessary for responsible digital media use. This program was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of how to use digital platforms wisely, safely, and ethically through participatory and experiential learning methods. The implementation included socialization sessions, interactive workshops, case simulations, group discussions, and student-led digital campaigns. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ conceptual understanding, critical thinking abilities, and ethical awareness in navigating digital content. Participants also displayed strong enthusiasm in formulating a digital code of ethics and raising collective awareness about the dangers of misinformation, cyberbullying, and negative digital footprints. With active support from school officials and facilitators, the program effectively fostered responsible digital citizenship. It is hoped that this initiative can be sustainably replicated within the school environment and further developed as part of a character education curriculum rooted in digital competence. Strengthening digital literacy and ethics is a crucial step in preparing young generations to face global challenges wisely and ethically.
