Abstract

A survey and experiment have conducted on fishing boat materials of justconstructed, 10 years and 15 years old. Materials were sampled and its strength wastested in order to understand the fatigue and its cause. The fatigue of materials is inregression linear but depending on the kind of wood, its processing, and the placeused in the boat construction. Those of materials use to be submerged in the waterwill be fatigue faster compare to those used in the dry place. The fatigue caused bymarine organism such sea worm holed into or some mollusks and microbe mashesattach to the surface of wood. Proper processing and well maintenance duringoperation of the boat will makes it be last longer.

Abstract

Base on the survei and field visiting at the location of dockyard industry, thestate of traditional dockyard management and technology reported. Traditionaldockyards use wood as raw materials for building mostly small fishing boat of less than5 GT. The location of dockyard is built open on the bank of riverside in the coastal areawithout any covered building. Facilities in the traditional dockyard as well asinfrastructure ro the location are almost nothing deliberately built. The dockyardpersists on the wetland environment, swampy area, and unhealthy working condition. The management of the dockyard is family wise as it belongs to the one core family, butthe boat craft man mostly recruite from extended family. While the technology usedmostly come from the long experiences working in the famili or other dockyard. Themain problem of the traditional dockyard is the raw wood materials are scarce anddifficult to get it, except by high price, whilst capital to secure materials stockunavailable. The consequence, five of seven traditional dockyard surveied have beenstopping to product a new boat; and frustrating to pace the future. The probableeffective idea of way out to the situation is to use alternative wooden materialsubstitution such as FRP.

Abstract

Base on the survey and field visiting at the industry location, the state of traditional dockyardindustry in Bagansiapiapi is reported. Traditional dockyards use wood as raw materials for buildingsmall boat of less than 5 GT for cargo or passenger as well as fishing boats. The location of dockyard isbuilt open on the bank of riverine in the coastal area without any covered building. Even facilities in thetraditional dockyard as well as the way to the location are almost no any infrastructure to support it. Thedockyard persists on the wetland environment, swampy area, and unhealthy working condition. Themanagement of the dockyard is family wise as it belong to the one core family, but the boat craftmenmostly extent family. While the technology used mostly is not deliberately heritage from their ancient orotherwise from the long experiences working in the dockyard for many years. The main problem of thetraditional dockyard is the raw wood materials are scare so that difficul to get with high costly price, whilst capital to secure matereials stock unavailable. The consequence, three of four traditional dockyartsurveyed have already or stopping to product a new boat and frustrating to pace the future. The probableeffective idea way out of the situation is to use alterentive boat substitute material such as FRP. Thisidea will be verified by following studies on modern dockyard producing small boat with using alterna-tive non-wood material. It is necessary as a reference for the transformation of the traditional dockyardinto the modern one.

Abstract

AbstractThis Research was conducted on 15-30 Mei 2021 in the Laboratory of Fishing Gear Materials of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, University of Riau. The method that used in this research was experiment method in laboratory by testing directly to the samples, the number of the samples used were 30 fish with 9-12 cm overall body length (average of 9,00 cm) with standard deviation ± 0,6977 cm. The testing results show that the normal swimming speed of kapiek fish (sustained swimming speed)< 3,21FL/sec. Maximum sustained swimming speed is 3,21 FL/sec, Prolonged swimming speedof kapiek fish range from 3,21 – 11,66FL/sec, burst swimming speed11,66FL/sec. Swimming speed and swimming endurance of kapiek fish (Barbodes schwanenfeldii) has negative correlation with strong value (R2 = 0,3415). Based on the results it proves that the endurance of fish swimming will decrease at high swimming speeds, in otherwise if the swimming speed is high, the endurance of swimming will decrease. The swimming speed of fish in the flume tank is 14,82 FL/second while the swimming speed of fish in aquaerium is not up to 14 FL/second. So it shows that the swimming speed of fish in the aquarium is lower or below the flume tank.Key word : Swimming Speed, Swimming Endurance, Kapiek fish

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research was conducted on 15-31 October 2019 in Nipah Panjang 1 Kelurahan, Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, Jambi Province. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the use of ring shaped ballast with oval lead ballast on the gill surface fishing gear, so that it can find out which ballast is good to use by looking at the number of catches. The method used in this study is an experimental method that is by using 2 types of gill nets with ballast in the form of a ring and oval tin ballast by using 2 fishing vessels in Nipah Panjang Village 1. From the results of the research that the fishing gill net with ballast ring and oval tin ballast there are differences in the construction components. Where the construction of gillnet gillnet fishing gear construction does not use a lower ris rope, because the ballast ring is fastened directly to the lower net. Whereas in the construction of oval tin gill net fishing gear construction uses a lower ris rope. For the number of catches according to weight (kg) during capture (7 days) the most is on gill net fishing gear with oval tin weights ranging from 91.6 kg / day with an average of 13.09 kg / day. While the number of catches on gillnet fishing gear that uses a ballast ring ranges from 78.6 kg / day with an average of 11.23 kg / day. Therefore, there is no difference in catches in the ballast gill net and oval tin fishing gear. Keywords: gill net fishing gear, ballast ring, construction, troop fish

Abstract

Need for clean water is a very important issue and still can not be resolved, especially in the peatlands. Clean water is used for everyday purposes must comply with the requirements of water quality in accordance with the Minister of Health Decree No. 416 / Menkes / per / 1990 on the conditions and water quality control. Peat water which is a source of raw water is very abundant, whereas in the processing of peat water into clean water using a coagulant has been no literature to say exactly how many doses of coagulant used, so this research is very important to do. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the use of alum, clay and a combination of both on peat water treatment. This research method using a completely randomized design-RAL (Completely Randomized Design) with two factors, alum and clay and performed repeat three times with water media processing tool is simple. Test parameters are pH, color, 6 valence chromium (Cr), manganese (Mn), iron (Fe), sulfate (SO), chloride (Cl), organic substances as KMnO4 (ZO), and hardness (CaCO3). Analysis of the data used in this study is the determination of the effectiveness of the coagulant, ANOVA test (F test) and Duncan Multiple (Duncan's Multiple Range Test). The results showed that the most effective coagulant addition is the clay of 2 g / l in combination with alum to 200 mg / l, where the combination of this coagulant obtain a pH level of 6.53 mg / l, 113.67 PtCo color, 6 valence chromium (Cr) 0,017 mg / l, manganese (Mn) 1.07 mg / l, iron (Fe) 0.39 mg / l, sulfate (SO) 108.31 mg / l, chloride (Cl) 36.56 mg / l, substance organic as KMnO4 (ZO) 90.01 mg / l, and hardness (CaCO3) 53.38 mg / l. Effectiveness and clay alum as a coagulant for peat water treatment discussed in more detail in this paper.
