Abstract

This research is a sample of the application of qualitative method. This research builds its structure and is reported descriptively by using words although a numerical rubric of speaking is used to acquire the components of their speaking difficulties. The interview is done to obtain individual perspective on the speaking activity and is analyzed by using condensed meaning technique. The data of the research is taken from interview and speaking rubric. The interviews are done to acquire individual perspective of the speaking activities. The research is done by analyzing the data of interview. The results of the interview found from the causal factors of the students' ignorance in speaking English are: (i) students' mentality (embarrassed, nervous, afraid of making grammar mistakes, lack of self-confidence), and (ii) teachers who are boring in teaching.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to address the problem of incorrect pronunciation among students studying English education. The study used a descriptive methodology. Five students from the English education department participated in this study. Through interviewing and test recordings, the data was gathered. A test was used to evaluate the problems that students were facing, and an interview was done to validate the information gathered. Due to the differences in the linguistic systems of English and Bahasa, there were problems with pronunciation such as irregular placement and articulation, as well as a deficiency in the ability to pronounce vowels and consonants according to the international phonetics alphabet. The professor offered oral comments, mobile phone apps, audio-visual materials, and a lot of reading practice as methods for teaching English pronunciation.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the differences in learning outcomes and students’ learning motivation using the Jigsaw type cooperative learning model and the Think Pair Share type in SPLTV material in class X SMA Gema Buwana. This research is a quantitative research, with the type of experimental research. The population is all students of class X SMA GemaBuwana, academic year 2021/2022, totaling 40 students. Data analysis was performed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). These finding indicate; (1) There are differences in learning outcomes and learning motivation of students who are taught using the Jigsaw type cooperative learning model and the Think Pair Share type in SPLTV material, where the valueFcount (4.142) > Ftable (3.960); (2) There are differences in student learning outcomes who are taught using the Jigsaw type cooperative learning model and the Think Pair Share type in SPLTV material, where the value of Fcount (5.954) > Ftable (4.085); (3) There is no difference in the learning motivation of students who are taught using the Jigsaw type cooperative learning model and the Think Pair Share type in SPLTV material, where the value of Fcount (0.7) < Ftable (4.085). The conclusion of this study explains that learning outcomes and student motivation are more suitable to be taught with the Jigsaw type of cooperative learning model than the Think Pair Share type.

Abstract

Mangrove forests play an important role in protecting the coast from abrasion, providing habitat for marine life, and sequestering carbon. However, mangroves are threatened by land conversion, unsustainable activities, and lack of public awareness. This program aims to build a generation that cares about the environment and encourages active community involvement in coastal conservation. This approach is expected to create a generation that not only has environmental knowledge, but also has the care and skills to contribute to conservation efforts. The program began with field observations and interviews to collect data on the geographical conditions and understanding of the local community regarding mangrove ecosystems. The results of observations were used to design teaching media in the form of mangrove species identification books, books about mangrove ecosystems, animal association books in mangroves, and educational games about food chains in mangroves. Based on the results of the activities, this study shows that the use of teaching media in the form of mangrove food chain posters, pictures of mangrove ecosystem fauna, and books about mangrove species is effective in increasing children's knowledge about mangrove ecosystems.

Abstract

This study investigates whether the memrise application can improve English vocabulary skills among young learners. Recognizing the important role of vocabulary in language acquisition. The study used an action research with a sample of 30 primary school students, utilizing quantitative data and qualitative data to evaluate how the memrise application can improve English vocabulary skills. The results revealed a significant improvement in vocabulary skills, with students’ mean scores increasing from 45.1 to 83.4 after implementing the application. Memrise’s key features, like gamification, spaced repetition, and multimedia resources, contributed to increased engagement and effective learning. Qualitative feedback indicated that students found the learning process enjoyable and motivating, creating a sense of competition among students and increasing their willingness to participate in the learning process. This study suggests that the memrise application can improve English vocabulary skills among young learners. Abstract

Natural mangrove forest is a part of  the essential ecosystem zone (EEZ) Bagek Kembar Sekotong West Lombok. The mangrove forest including the EEZ Bagek Kembar has been used as a destination for eduecotourism in order to introduce mainly mangrove vegetation and others flora and fauna that could found in the EEZ areas. The present of EEZ Bagek Kembar has prominent values for supporting local communities economy. However, numerous activities done in the EEZ can bring some potential effects to the living of biota, including mangrove community. This research was conducted for analysis the health status of natural mangrove forest of the EEZ Bagek Kembar.  Density and canopy covering percentage of mangrove vegetation were analyzed for determining the health status of natural mangrove forest in the EEZ bagek Kembar. The density and present covering of mangrove canopy were determined based on the resolution of Minister for the Environment No.201 year of 2004, about Standard Criteria for Mangrove Damage. The results of this research showed there were  6 species from 4 family of mangrove. The six spesies of mangrove were Avicennia marina, Rhizophora apiculata, R. mucronata, R. stylosa, Sonneratia alba dan Xylocarpus granatum. Density of mangrove vegetation was in range of 900-1.900 trees/ha with in overage of 1.411trees/ha (intermediate to good categories) and the covering percentage of mangrove canopy was 83% (dense category). Natural mangrove forest of EEZ Bagek Kembar Sekotong West Lombok was in  good health.
