Abstract

Landslides can be occurred in almost every natural slope or artificial slope slowly or suddenly with or without any prior signs. The main reason for slope collapse is the increase in shear stress in the landslide, the decrease in shear strength, or both. Landslide problems can result in loss of life and property, damage to the environment, infrastructure, public facilities, and disrupt livelihood generally. Landslides can be detected by exploration of the subsurface. The geoelectrical method is one of the geophysical methods to know the change of resistance of a type of rock layer below ground level. The research aims to interpret the lithology of the subsurface in the Candi Industrial Area, Ngaliyan, Semarang using Schlumberger configuration. The results of measurements are voltage and electric current to calculate the apparent resistivity value processed by IP2Win software to determine the lithology and the slip surface area. The results present that lithology in the research area consists of sand clay, clay, and sandstone. The results showed that the locations of landslide-prone areas lie at the contact between sand clay and clay with that area at a depth of between 19.95 – 31.62 m there is one difference in the resistivity value which can be assumed to be a slip surface.The result of the research can be used to make policy rules of landslide mitigation.

Abstract

The gravity method is a passive method based on the density measurement among sediment. This method is usually applied to identify the condition of the earth’s subsurface. Soputan Volcano is located in District Minahasa Tenggara. Soputan Volcano is included in type A Volcano or stratovolcano and it stands at 1783.7 MSL. This research aims to identify the distribution of subsurface mass (sediment density) of Soputan. The data used was Data from satellite GGmPlus and elevation data of ERTM which was corrected to ellipsoid reference. 3D inversion modeling applied Grablox software. The complete value of the Bouguer anomaly obtained was 110 – 162 mGal. The density result obtained from the inversion model was 2.3 g/cm3 to 2.95 g/cm3. The sediment that could be identified was andesite sediment and basalt sediment. Based on that result, the layer arranging Soputan Volcano consists of many variations of mass in each depth grouped into andesite, breccia, basalt, andesite-basaltic, lava, breccia, and tuff.

Abstract

We have reviewed several research related to the estimation of subsurface structure on several area in Indonesia using gravity method based on satellite image. There are located in Semarang City, Mount Tandikat, Mount Muria, Majene Earthquake Affected Area, and Mount Merapi-Merbabu. The aim of this literature study is to determine the accuracy of satellite gravity data to identify and model subsurface structures by testing them in several cases. Data processing was carried out starting from the free air anomaly and then field correction was carried out to obtain the Bouguer anomaly. Moreover, different advanced processing is carried out, such as gradient analysis, 2D and 3D modeling. The software used includes GRAV2DC, Gravblox, Bloxer, and Grav3D.The results show variations in rock density and subsurface structure at each location. Subsurface modeling includes rock types, faults and basins that can help understand local geology. The study also shows estimates of the thickness of the sediment layers at several research locations. The research results show variations in rock density in various locations (granite, sandstone, andesite, mudstone) with different density values (between 1 g/cm³ to 2.9 g/cm³). Generally, gravity data from satellite images can provide subsurface information such as lithology, geological potential, the presence of hydrothermal pathways and structures. Regarding the type of fault, it is necessary to carry out geological observations in the field and cannot just rely on the results of gravity modeling. Furthermore, the results of gravity mapping will play an important role in disaster risk management and understanding geodynamics in the area studied.
