Abstract

Background: Malnutrition remains a significant nutritional challenge for children under five. The active involvement of families, particularly parents, is crucial in meeting the nutritional needs of children. The intake of nutrients from complementary feeding plays a vital role in meeting the nutritional requirements, especially for children aged 6-24 months. Therefore, family-based therapy, facilitated through counseling, is essential to empower families in addressing children's nutritional issues. This approach aims to enhance the practice of complementary feeding, thereby preventing nutritional problems and fostering the growth and development of children. Purpose: This literature study described the use of counseling on complementary feeding to families in fulfilling the nutritional needs of children aged 6-24 months. Methods: The research design used in this study was a narrative literature review. Search articles through 4 databases (Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and SpringerLink) and keywords family counseling, complementary feeding, and children aged 6-24 months. Articles were searched through 4 stages based on the PRISMA flowchart. Results: The analysis of ten articles in this study revealed that the implementation of complementary feeding counseling when tailored to the specific needs and circumstances of the family, has a significant and positive impact on changing family behavior related to complementary feeding practices. This includes attention to the method, media, steps, and implementation time and identifying the right target, which could be the primary caregiver or the entire family unit. Such interventions have improved adherence to standards and recommendations, increasing children's weight and nutritional status. Conclusions: Family counseling on complementary feeding significantly enhances the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to mothers' complementary feeding practices. When these practices align with the standards and recommendations set by health authorities, they can effectively meet the nutritional needs of children aged 6-24 months. When achieved, this alignment empowers the audience to play a crucial role in promoting children's optimal growth and development.

Abstract

Stunting in children is a major global issue, especially in rural agricultural areas of Indonesia. Despite ongoing efforts to eliminate stunting, its prevalence remains high, adversely affecting children's cognitive and physical development. This study aimed to determine the factors influencing the nutritional status of stunted children in Indonesia’s agricultural districts. A cross-sectional analytical study was conducted in Jember District, Indonesia, involving 236 malnourished children aged 0 to 59 months. Using stratified random sampling, structured questionnaires were utilized to collect data on family functioning, child feeding attitudes, and practices. There were significant correlations between family function (p value= 0.047), child-feeding attitudes (p value= 0.023), and child-feeding practice (p value= 0.000) with children's nutritional status. This study highlighted a significant relationship among family function, child-feeding attitude, and practices concerning the nutritional status of children experiencing stunting. It emphasizes the importance of improving family function and supporting healthy child-feeding practices. Targeted interventions based on local cultural understanding are critical for effectively reducing stunting.

Abstract

Advances in treatment have led to longer survival and an increase in the number of women living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) in the United States. In palliative care, symptoms are multiple and combined, evolving and changing, with multidimentional character and multifactorial causes, and high prevalence, negatively impacting the quality of life of patients and their families. Nurses providing palliative care need to recognize and respond effectively to their patients' symptoms, integrate systematic care plans with technology systems and apply them to the care of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and respiratory failure and explore a continuous care model based on modern technology to improve the quality of life of COPD and respiratory failure aimed at alleviating COPD symptoms, reducing the number of acute episodes of COPD and improving the quality of life of patients. One hundred patients with COPD and respiratory failure who were treated in the respiratory medicine department of a territorial hospital were selected and categorized into control and experimental groups. Audit and feedback tools. Practical application using the Joanna Briggs Institute Clinical Evidence System (JBI PACES) and Getting Research into Practice (GRiP).
