Abstract

Ineffective family health management is an unsatisfactory pattern of handling health problems in the family to restore the health conditions of family members. Family empowerment is one of the efforts that can be done to increase cognitive, affective and psychomotor through health education, physical exercise and traditional medicine. This scientific work aims to analyze nursing care with ineffective health management problems with family empowerment in handling hypertension so that families are expected to be able to provide effective family nursing care in overcoming hypertension problems with family empowerment. This study was conducted by conducting observations and demonstrations for 3 weeks with 8 meetings in three families with hypertensive family members who were given family empowerment interventions through hypertension health education, anti-hypertension exercises and cucumber juice therapy. Based on the results of research on three families, it was found that there was an increase in family cognition about hypertension and hypertension diet, there was a decrease in systole and diastole blood pressure after anti-hypertensive gymnastics and administration of cucumber juice. Family empowerment shows that there is an influence on the handling of hypertension in the family. Family empowerment is important to do because it has a positive influence on cognitive changes, changes in systole and diastole pressure of hypertensive patients. Family empowerment can be done consistently and continuously because hypertension is a chronic disease and needs family involvement.

Abstract

Background: The elderly are a vulnerable age who experience various problems, especially the problem of physical dissatisfaction which results in disturbances in musculoskeletal function. Disorders that often arise are joint pain that makes the elderly experience disruption of daily activities. Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative disease that causes chronic inflammation due to friction between the ends of the bones that make up the joints. Therapy that can be used to reduce joint pain is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. Progressive muscle relaxation is a relaxation technique that combines deep breathing exercises and several contraction and relaxation techniques of certain muscles. Study aims to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on reducing joint pain in the elderly at Wisma Dahlia UPT PSTW Jember. Method: Experimental study with a quasi-experimental research design with a pretest and posttest one group design approach where in this study compares the pretest and posttest values of the elderly pain scale after giving progressive muscle relaxation therapy at Wisma Dahlia UPT PSTW Jember. Results and Discussion: Almost all the elderly at Wisma Dahlia have complaints, namely joint pain with a percentage of 86.4% with a pain scale of 4-6 before being given therapy. After 3 sessions of progressive muscle relaxation exercise there was a decrease in the level of pain before and after progressive muscle relaxation exercise from moderate pain (4-6) from 61.5% to 15.3% pain. In addition, there was an increase in the number of mild pain (1-3) from 38.5% to 84.7%. The p-value is 0.018 <0.05, which means that there are differences in the level of pain in the elderly before and after the progressive muscle relaxation intervention. The decrease in pain scale in the elderly shows that progressive muscle relaxation therapy is able to effectively reduce pain by increasing endorphins in the body to inhibit the transmission of painful stimuli. Conclusion: The elderly at Wisma Dahlia UPT PSTW Jember after participating in the empowerment of progressive muscle relaxation exercises for 1 week, their joint pain complaints decreased. Progressive muscle relaxation needs to be included in the PSTW exercise program that can be done routinely so that it can reduce joint pain experienced by the elderly.

Abstract

Introduction: The growing demand for continuous professional development (CPD) within the healthcare sector has emphasized the importance of tailored training for various professional roles, including those of occupational health nurses. In Indonesia, there remains a need to better understand the specific job functions and development needs of nurses working in occupational health settings to ensure effective practice and optimal patient outcomes. Objective: This study was conducted to map out the roles performed by occupational health nurses in Indonesia and to identify key areas where additional training is most needed. Method: A descriptive cross-sectional approach was employed, involving 43 occupational health nurses selected via simple random sampling. Data were gathered using the validated Indonesian adaptation of the Hennessy-Hicks Training Needs Analysis Questionnaire, which evaluates competencies across five domains: research and audit, communication and teamwork, clinical practice, administrative tasks, and leadership or supervisory roles. To determine areas of significant training need, independent t-tests were performed for each questionnaire item. Results: The analysis revealed considerable training requirements in 38 of the assessed items. The domain most urgently requiring development was research and audit, which had the highest mean score (2.07). This was followed by clinical functions and management (both 1.65), mental health and resilience-related skills (1.32), collaboration and communication (1.22), and administrative functions (0.58). Conclusion: The findings point to a clear need for competency-based training initiatives, with particular emphasis on strengthening research and audit capabilities among occupational health nurses. Healthcare institutions in Indonesia are advised to implement structured educational programs alongside continuous evaluation systems to foster professional advancement and maintain high standards of care.

Abstract

Introduction:Both professionalism and professional behavior (PB) are important in nursing education. An explicit and/or implicit curriculum, determined by higher education, is required to achieve this. The Hidden Curriculum (HC) foundation is described as the result of education outside the formal and informal curricula, as a complement and support of the curriculum, to create a stable, strong, and professional nursing education. Purpose: This study aims to explore the relationship between the Hidden Curriculum and professionalism and Islamic professional behavior in nursing students. Methods: The study used a cross-sectional design and included 181 students and 82 clinical supervisors. Data were collected using the Hidden Curriculum in Nursing Education Scale (HCES-N) questionnaire, as well as professionalism and professional behavior (PB) questionnaires developed based on the Indonesian Nursing Competency Standards. Results: The results indicate that the hidden curriculum significantly influences the academic atmosphere and professional knowledge. However, it does not affect educational facilities, student–lecturer interaction, or professional attitude. Overall, the hidden curriculum contributes to the development of professionalism and Islamic professional behavior. Conclusion and suggestion: Nursing higher education institutions should apply the hidden curriculum to cultivate a generation of nurses who are professional and possess Islamic character.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Hereditary beliefs and rituals have a significant role in shaping children. Most of these traditions can contribute positively to children's health, but in some cases, beliefs that are not based on science have the potential to hinder stunting prevention efforts. Research Objectives: this study aims to identify the rituals and cultures that play a role in inhibiting or preventing stunting as well as identifying community-based approaches that can be applied. Methods: this study used a literature review design. In the literature selection and evaluation process, the protocol uses Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). The literature search was conducted between September to October 2025 in various journal databases, such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar, focusing on publications from the last five years (2021-2025) Results: traditional rituals and beliefs support stunting prevention efforts, such as the provision of nutritious, natural foods and the prohibition of the consumption of unhealthy processed foods. However, on the other hand, there are cultural practices that can hinder health interventions, such as the taboo on certain nutritious foods for pregnant women and children under five due to myths that are not based on nutrition science Conclusion: traditional beliefs and rituals have a dual role in stunting prevention. Some traditions support healthy eating and the maintenance of children's nutrition, but there are also beliefs that hinder the implementation of evidence-based health policies. Keywords: Stunting, Beliefs and Rituals, and Prevention of Stunting.

Abstract

Adolescent obesity represents a significant global health issue escalating in both developed and developing countries, including Indonesia, with impacts on non-communicable disease risks and psychosocial disorders. The complexity of its causes requires a holistic approach via the Socio-Ecological Model (SEM), integrating individual, social, environmental, and policy factors. This study aims to identify and analyze these factors influencing adolescent obesity incidence. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method guided by PRISMA 2020 was employed, searching PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar (2020–2024) using keywords on adolescent obesity, socio-ecological model, and risk factors. From 2,530,000 initial articles, screening of titles, abstracts, and full texts yielded 12 high-quality articles for synthesis. Synthesis revealed individual-level factors such as high-calorie low-fiber diets, low physical activity, sedentary behavior, academic stress, and poor self-regulation contribute to elevated BMI in adolescents. Social factors include family parenting styles, peer influence, and social media; environmental aspects encompass limited healthy food access, fast food dominance, and scarce sports facilities; policy measures like unhealthy food marketing regulations and sugary drink taxes remain suboptimal in developing countries. In conclusion, adolescent obesity arises from multidimensional SEM interactions, necessitating comprehensive multilevel prevention interventions involving families, schools, communities, and government policies for sustained effectiveness.
