Abstract

ABSTRACT The Sultan Agung Horse Statue created by Yusman in Bantul is an iconic public monument, yet comprehensive studies that integrate both its artistic value and sociological functions remain limited. This This study is designed to explore two significant dimensions of the Sultan Agung Horse Monument created by artist Yusman in the Imogiri region namely the perspective of visual art and sociocultural background. In the practice of monumental art appreciation, observation often halts at formal beauty without delving deeper into the ideology and messages embedded within it. This research aims to elucidate the plastic elements and creative methodologies that shape the aesthetic experience of the sculpture, while simultaneously analyzing the social role of the design in projecting manifestations of authority and power. The research methodology employs a qualitative approach with descriptive-interpretative analysis and a Semiotic framework to identify meanings contained within visual symbols. Data collection was conducted through intensive visual examination in the field, investigation of literature concerning art history and traditions, and in-depth dialogue with the creator. The findings demonstrate that: (1) On the visual (iconic) level, artistic value emerges from the orchestration of 'V' formation composition, dynamic rhythm of movement (captured motion), and realistic detail of fiberglass casting technique; (2) On the indexical level, the statue's gesture reveals a causal relationship between military leadership and obedience; (3) On the symbolic and sociological level, this aesthetic functions as an instrument legitimating "Wahyu Keprabon" power and reinforcing Mataram cultural identity in public space. The monument's positioning at the gateway of the "Pajimatan" area reinforces historical narrative while serving as a formal landmark in urban spatial organization.

Abstract

This study was motivated by issues in students’ self-concept and interpersonal communication, characterized by difficulties in self-recognition, rejection of others’ opinions, introversion, lack of empathy, and challenges in building friendships. The objectives were: (1) to describe students’ self-concept, (2) to describe their interpersonal communication, and (3) to examine the correlation between self-concept and interpersonal communication. This research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational design. The population consisted of 136 eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 12 Padang, with a sample of 103 selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using percentage and Pearson product-moment correlation. The results indicate that: (1) students’ self-concept is in the high category (81%), (2) interpersonal communication is in the fairly good category (61%), and (3) there is no significant relationship between self-concept and interpersonal communication (r-calculated 0.133 < r-table 0.195 at a 0.05 significance level). It is concluded that self-concept does not strongly correlate with interpersonal communication skills, suggesting that school counselors implement group guidance or classroom services focusing on improving interpersonal communication skills.

Abstract

Nowadays, electronic devices have become a very important part of everyone's life. Gadgets in particular, not only make it easier for someone to gain access to information quickly, but gadgets are also used as communication tools, entertainment, and learning tools which make significant changes to the way people interact with the environment around them. Uncontrolled use of gadgets makes them waste a lot of time in front of the screen, this tends to have an impact on emotional intelligence. Sherry Turkle believes, "as technology ramps up, our emotional lives ramp down". Human emotional abilities or intelligence do not go hand in hand with technological advances. In his book, Turkle describes Henry David Thoreau's Three Chairs concept. David said, "in his cabin there were three chairs -one for solitude, two for friendship, three for society". This research uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. The qualitative research method is a research method that positions the researcher as the main instrument in the process of obtaining data. This research was conducted at Jember University, precisely on Jalan Kalimantan, Tegalboto No. 37, East Krajan, District. Sumbersari, Jember Regency. Jember University was chosen because it is relevant to the research topic that will be taken up by researchers. Based on the results of interviews and observations, the author found that students tend to choose to operate their smartphones when they are next to unfamiliar colleagues in class. When contacting a friend if they have an appointment to go out, they prefer to communicate via cellphone. However, if students prefer to spend time in front of gadget screens, they may miss this opportunity to interact

Abstract

In the context of rapidly evolving educational technologies, Montessori preschool learning requires developmentally appropriate innovations that preserve hands-on exploration while enhancing children’s cognitive and sensorial growth. This study aims to investigate the integration of emerging technologies such as AI-assisted learning applications, multimodal digital storytelling, and sensor-based interactive materials within Montessori environments to understand how these tools can support autonomy, concentration, and individualized learning rhythms. The approach focuses on a qualitative case study involving classroom observations, teacher interviews, and analysis of children’s learning behaviours, with a total of 206 participants, to capture how technology is adopted and adapted in authentic preschool contexts. Findings indicate that technology aligned with Montessori principles increases engagement with sensorial tasks, enriches exploration, strengthens differentiated learning pathways, and provides teachers with accurate insight into developmental progress, although excessive digital exposure may reduce children’s interaction with concrete materials. Therefore, the study concludes that thoughtfully integrated emerging technologies can serve as a natural extension of Montessori learning when applied moderately, grounded in pedagogical intention, and designed to enhance rather than replace physical and self-directed experiences, ultimately demonstrating that balanced integration offers meaningful benefits for young learners.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to empirically measure the influence of green accounting and GCG on performance, with capital structure as a mediating variable and size as a moderating variable, across cyclical and non-cyclical sectors of companies listed on the IDX for the 2019-2023 period. Methodology/approach: This study uses a quantitative approach with partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Using purposive sampling to collect data observations of 41 companies in 5 years, with a total of 205 observations. Findings: green accounting does not directly affect performance, while GCG has a significant effect on performance and capital structure. Capital structure mediates the relationship between green accounting and GCG to performance. The size of the company does not moderate. Practical implications: Companies must optimize their capital structures and strengthen GCG to support sustainable investment; Green Accounting needs to be integrated into financial planning to improve the quality of sustainability reporting. Regulators and financial institutions are expected to incentivize and strengthen policies on capital structure that are relevant for companies. Originality/value: This study structurally examines green accounting and GCG on performance, with capital structure as a mediating variable and size as a moderating variable, a combination that has not been explored in prior studies.
