Abstract

Introduction: The impact of the pandemic on adolescents' lives showed that 55.1% stress and 40% anxiety due to online learning along with an increase in teenage pregnancy. Aims: To determine the predictive index of risk variables for teen pregnancy throughout the COVID-19 pandemic's online learning period. Methods: This type of research is analytic observational utilizing a case-control design. Using simple random sampling, the case sample was 40 pregnant adolescents and 80 non-pregnant controls for the Indonesian Regency of Ngawi from July 2021 until January 2022. Once each variable was significant, multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed (p < 0.05) as predictors of teenage pregnancy. Results: The findings revealed that the variables as indicators of the risk of teenage pregnancy were courtship behavior, access to reproductive health media, and parenting. The predictive index of teen pregnancy risk factors was (-7.248 + 3.833 x low risk dating + 7.726 x severe risk dating + 2.773 x access 1 media + 2.773 x access 2/more media + 3.871 x authoritarian and permissive parenting). The high probability of teenage pregnancy with an opportunity value above 0.5 is in adolescents with dating behavior or parenting patterns that show the highest risk, namely high-risk dating behavior or adolescents with authoritarian and permissive parenting patterns. Conclusion: It is hoped that this index can be considered and used as a measuring tool in assisting in reproductive health programs, in screening adolescents so that it can be known early on that adolescents have an increased risk of pregnancy.

Abstract

Background: Mental health is a part that is related to health and wellness. One of the indicators in Gerakan Masyarakat (GERMAS) [”society movement”] stated that people with mental disorders should be treated and not abandoned. Nevertheless, nowadays it is still common to find people with mental disorders that do not receive proper medical care. Aims: The aim of this research is to measure cues to action and self-efficacy of the family behavior in seeking treatment for people with mental disorders within the work area of the Public Health Centre Taman Sidoarjo. Method: This research utilized the observational method with the cross-sectional study design and was analyzed with the Health Belief Model (HBM) theory approach. Result: The statistical analysis results using the Pearson Chi-Square test with a significance level of < 0.05 showed a p-value of 0.034 for perceived susceptibility and severity, a p-value of 0.180 for perceived threat, a p-value of 0.009 for perceived benefit, a p-value of 0.696 for perceived barriers, a p-value of 0.555 for self-efficacy, and p-value of 0.099 for cues to action. Based on these results, it can be concluded that perceived susceptibility and severity have a positive relationship with the family behavior in seeking treatment, which means the more perceived susceptibility, and severity increase, the more the family behavior in seeking treatment for people with mental disorders increases. Conclusion: Likewise, perceived benefit has a positive relationship with the family's behavior in seeking treatment. However, perceived threat, perceived barriers, self-efficacy, and cues to action have no relationship with the family behavior in seeking treatment for people with mental disorders.

Abstract

The natural hatching success rate of olive ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) eggs on Pulau Santen Beach is often hindered by predator disturbances, temperature fluctuations caused by human activities, and unfavorable environmental conditions, with a success rate of only 50–70%. This study aimed to analyze the hatching success rate of olive ridley sea turtle eggs using the INTAN BOX incubation device on Pulau Santen Beach, Banyuwangi. A quantitative descriptive method was employed to observe 365 eggs relocated from four nests to the INTAN BOX over an incubation period of 50–60 days. Parameters observed included temperature, humidity, and hatching success rates. Results indicated an average hatching success rate of 86%, with individual nest success rates ranging from 83% to 89%. These rates are significantly higher than the 50–70% success rate achieved through natural hatching. The INTAN BOX provides a stable environment, protects eggs from predators, and optimizes temperature and humidity conditions, thereby enhancing hatching success. Additionally, the device enables the management of hatchling sex ratios through temperature-dependent sex determination (TSD), which is critical for sea turtle population conservation. This study concluded that the INTAN BOX is an effective innovation for olive ridley turtle conservation while also supporting local community empowerment around Pulau Santen Beach.

Abstract

Air pollution has significant adverse effects on human health, particularly on the respiratory system. Prolonged exposure to pollutants such as fine particulate matter (PM₂.₅) and sulfur dioxide (SO₂) can lead to respiratory damage. Boulevard Raya Street in North Jakarta is an industrial area with heavy traffic, where parking attendants spend long hours outdoors and are continuously exposed to ambient air pollutants. This study aims to assess the health risk posed by PM₂.₅ and SO₂ exposure to parking attendants working along Boulevard Raya Street, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, in 2024. A quantitative approach was used, employing the Environmental Health Risk Analysis (EHRA) method with 18 respondents. Variables analyzed included gender, age, body weight, working hours, and exposure duration. The analysis showed that most respondents were aged between 18–50 years, with exposure durations of up to 8 hours/day, 350 days/year, over a 30-year period. The estimated average intake of PM₂.₅ was 10.88 mg/kg/day, with a Risk Quotient (RQ) of 1.83—indicating a potential non-carcinogenic health risk. In contrast, the average intake of SO₂ was 3.56 mg/kg/day with an RQ of 0.22, which falls within the acceptable safety threshold. In conclusion, PM₂.₅ exposure among parking attendants in the study area exceeds safe limits and poses a health risk, while SO₂ exposure remains within tolerable limits.
