Abstract

Budaya sekolah adalah salah satu pandangan yang diakui oleh seluruh warga sekolah yang bertujuan untuk menciptakan lingkungan yang mendukung tumbuhnya perkembangan akademik, sosial, emosional, dan karakter siswa. Budaya sekolah harus mampu mendorong dan meningkatkan mutu sekolah, agar tercipta budaya sekolah yang baik. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh ditemukannya berbagai permasalahan perilaku peserta didik yang menunjukkan lemahnya penerapan budaya sekolah, sehingga diperlukan strategi kepala sekolah sebagai pemimpin dalam mengelola dan mengarahkan seluruh warga sekolah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan strategi apa saja yang digunakan oleh kepala sekolah dalam memperkuat budaya sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Busungbiu Kabupaten Buleleng. Kepala sekolah memiliki posisi yang sangat penting dalam membentuk kualitas pendidikan yang baik di sekolah, karena kepala sekolah memiliki peran penting dalam membimbing arah sekolah. Tujuan penelitian ini dicapai melalui penggunaan motode pendekatan penelitian kualitatif dengan rancangan penelitian studi kasus. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui wawancara kepada 10 kepala sekolah dasar di Kecamatan Busungbiu, Kabupaten Buleleng. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis tematik. Hasil penelitian ini menampilkan dua tema terkait strategi penguatan budaya sekolah: Mengintregasikan nilai-nilai Tri Hita Karana dalam kegiatan sekolah yang dikategorikan menjadi tiga yaitu: (1) Parahyangan, (2) Pawongan, dan (3) Palemahan, tema kedua adalah bekerjasama dengan desa adat setempat.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) integrated with Wamena local wisdom on elementary students’ learning outcomes and problem-solving skills. Integrating culturally relevant pedagogy into innovative learning models is expected to enhance meaningful learning, particularly in remote regions with strong local traditions. A quasi-experimental design employing a non-equivalent pretest–posttest control group was used. The participants were 112 fifth-grade students from two elementary schools in Wamena, Indonesia. Data were collected using learning outcome tests and problem-solving assessments and analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). The results indicate significant differences in learning outcomes and problem-solving skills between students taught using PjBL integrated with local wisdom and those taught using conventional learning models. Students in the PjBL group achieved higher scores in both dependent variables. These findings demonstrate that integrating local wisdom into project-based learning enhances students’ conceptual understanding and problem-solving abilities. This study contributes to elementary education literature by highlighting the pedagogical value of culturally contextualized project-based learning in improving learning quality in geographically and culturally distinctive regions.

Abstract

Learning three-dimensional geometry in elementary schools still faces low conceptual understanding due to limited visualization and the dominance of two-dimensional media, which affects students’ learning outcomes. This study aims to analyze and examine the validity and effectiveness of AR-based interactive learning media. The research employed a R&D approach using the ADDIE model. The subjects included 28 fifth-grade students, one teacher, and two media experts and two subject-matter experts. Data were collected through validation questionnaires, teacher and student responses, and pre-test and post-test instruments, and analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results show that the AR media achieved very high validity (media experts 4.9; material experts 4.8), very good practicality (teacher response 97.71% and student response 94.55%), and effectiveness in improving learning outcomes with p<0.05. In conclusion, AR-based learning media is effective in improving students’ geometry learning outcomes. The implication, AR media has strong potential as an interactive and meaningful mathematics learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the role of science education in elementary schools in developing scientific thinking, science literacy, and 21st-century skills. The method used is a literature review through the analysis of various sources related to science education. The results indicate that science education is not merely a medium for transferring natural concepts, but also a means to foster scientific character, critical thinking, and creativity. The integration of technology, inquiry-based approaches, and project-based learning has been proven to enhance students' readiness for the digital era. Abstract

Kemajuan teknologi dalam dunia pendidikan menuntut adanya inovasi media pembelajaran yang interaktif, namun rendahnya keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran IPAS di sekolah dasar masih menjadi problematika akibat dominasi media konvensional dan belum optimalnya pemanfaatan teknologi digital. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan multimedia interaktif berbasis problem-based learning pada materi pengaruh gaya terhadap benda yang valid, praktis, dan efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelas IV SD Negeri 2 Bila. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE. Kelayakan media dievaluasi melalui uji validitas ahli materi dan media, kepraktisan diuji melalui respon guru dan siswa (uji perorangan serta kelompok kecil), sementara efektivitas dianalisis menggunakan uji-t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa validitas ahli materi memperoleh mean 3,86 dan validitas ahli media memperoleh mean 3,73 dengan kualifikasi sangat valid. Uji kepraktisan pada seluruh tahapan menunjukkan kategori sangat praktis untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran. Hasil analisis efektivitas melalui uji-t menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (< 0,05) yang menandakan adanya peningkatan signifikan terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa setelah penggunaan multimedia. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, multimedia interaktif dinyatakan layak, praktis, dan efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi pengaruh gaya terhadap benda di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Abstract: This article examines the important role of science education in developing future competencies needed by students in the 21st century. Through a literature review of various relevant sources, this article analyzes how science education can facilitate the development of 21st century competencies including critical thinking skills, creativity, collaboration, communication, and scientific literacy. The review findings indicate that science education has a strategic role in preparing students to face global challenges through learning oriented toward developing 4C skills (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication) and scientific literacy. The implementation of scientific approaches, STEM, and problem-based learning in science education has proven effective in developing future competencies. This article recommends the importance of transforming science learning to be more adaptive, innovative, and contextual to optimize the development of students' competencies in facing the era of industrial revolution 4.0 and society 5.0. Abstrak: Artikel ini mengkaji peran penting pendidikan sains dalam mengembangkan kompetensi masa depan yang dibutuhkan peserta didik di abad ke-21. Melalui kajian kepustakaan terhadap berbagai sumber literatur yang relevan, artikel ini menganalisis bagaimana pendidikan sains dapat memfasilitasi pengembangan kompetensi abad 21 yang mencakup keterampilan berpikir kritis, kreativitas, kolaborasi, komunikasi, dan literasi sains. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan sains memiliki peran strategis dalam mempersiapkan peserta didik menghadapi tantangan global melalui pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada pengembangan keterampilan 4C (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication) dan literasi sains. Implementasi pendekatan pembelajaran saintifik, STEM, dan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dalam pendidikan sains terbukti efektif dalam mengembangkan kompetensi masa depan. Artikel ini merekomendasikan pentingnya transformasi pembelajaran sains yang lebih adaptif, inovatif, dan kontekstual untuk mengoptimalkan pengembangan kompetensi peserta didik dalam menghadapi era revolusi industri 4.0 dan society 5.0.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine how science education grounded in scientific practices, socioscientific issues (SSI), and the integration of STEM–Computational Thinking (CT) can foster future competencies among elementary school students. The method employed is a literature review analyzing relevant studies on 21st-century science learning, scientific literacy, and technology integration. The findings indicate that when science is taught as an epistemic activity—through inquiry, modeling, and evidence-based argumentation—and connected to meaningful social and environmental contexts, it simultaneously strengthens the 4C skills (critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication), scientific literacy, data-digital literacy, and scientific character. The review also highlights key implementation prerequisites, including curriculum autonomy, formative performance-based assessment, meaningful technological ecosystems, and sustained teacher professional development. In conclusion, science education built upon practice, context, and technology offers a strategic framework for developing cross-domain competencies in elementary education. Abstract

This study aims to identify the role of science education in developing 21st-century competencies among elementary school students and to provide recommendations for more effective instructional implementation. The method used was a literature review by examining relevant scientific articles concerning the role of science education in fostering 21st-century competencies at the elementary school level. The research stages included designing the review, conducting the review, data abstraction and analysis, and organizing the review results. The data were obtained from articles that met predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results indicate that science education contributes to enhancing 21st-century skills through the utilization of digital media such as learning videos, YouTube, PowerPoint, Macromedia/Adobe Flash, digital comics, e-books, flipbooks, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), educational websites, educational television, and learning applications. Furthermore, the implementation of instructional models and approaches such as Problem Based Learning (PBL), inquiry, discovery learning, Science, Environment, Technology, and Society (SETS), Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI), and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) supports the development of these competencies. Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of a game-assisted flipbook on cultural diversity for fifth-grade elementary school students. The study was conducted in Cluster V Tuanku Imam Bonjol, Denpasar, Bali, using the ADDIE development model. The participants included two content experts, two media experts, 12 teachers, and 65 fifth-grade students, comprising 33 students in the experimental group and 32 in the control group. Data were collected using expert validation sheets, teacher and student practicality questionnaires, and pretest–posttest assessments of concept mastery. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, percentage conversion, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), and normalized gain (N-gain). The flipbook was developed using Microsoft Word, Canva, and Heyzine, and featured contextual narratives, cultural illustrations, reflective activities, QR codes, and educational games. The validation results indicated that the product was highly feasible, with a mean score of 3.87 (96.75%) from both content and media experts. Practicality was also rated very highly, with scores of 3.84 (95.88%) from teachers and 3.91 (97.83%) from students. ANCOVA results revealed a statistically significant difference between the experimental and control groups after controlling for pretest scores (F = 84.980, p < 0.001), with a large effect size (partial eta squared = 0.578). Furthermore, the N-gain analysis showed greater improvement in the experimental group (0.81, high category) compared to the control group (0.51, moderate category). In conclusion, the game-assisted flipbook is highly feasible, practical, and effective in improving students’ concept mastery in elementary education.
