Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology, including Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), metaverse, Learning Analytics (LA), and digital formative assessment (DFA), presents mixed findings regarding their impact on student academic achievement. The variability ranging from the consistently positive effects of VR/AR in enhancing spatial reasoning and motivation to the inconsistent effectiveness of LA interventions necessitates an urgent synthesis of the current evidence. Therefore, this study aimed to explore and map the most recent empirical evidence (2016–2025) on the role of these technologies in improving student academic outcomes, participation, and cognitive development. Employing a scoping review methodology following PRISMA-ScR guidelines, this review systematically analyzed 13 primary empirical studies selected from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. The results indicate that the majority of studies (12 out of 13) report a significant increase in academic performance. Immersive technologies were particularly prominent due to their ability to reduce cognitive load and significantly boost student motivation and self-efficacy through embodiment, aligning with the theoretical frameworks of Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) and the Cognitive Affective Model of Immersive Learning (CAMIL). However, the effectiveness of interventions like LA was found to be conditional and inconsistent, highlighting that pedagogical design and feedback quality are more crucial determinants of success than the technology itself. The main conclusion is that technology's benefits depend critically on careful pedagogical implementation; consequently, the focus must shift from whether technology is used to how it is effectively integrated to ensure maximum knowledge transfer.

Abstract

Abstract

Working women often face various pressures, both from professional demands in the workplace and from the domestic roles they carry out simultaneously. These pressures can lead to stress, which in turn can adversely affect performance. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of mindfulness as a stress management strategy in improving the performance of working women. Working women tend to experience higher levels of stress compared to mothers who do not work. The research method used was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest format without a control group. The sample consisted of 15 working women selected through purposive sampling. The instruments employed included the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) and a Worker Performance Scale. The intervention consisted of mindfulness training conducted over two weeks, comprising four sessions focused on exercises that cultivate full attention to thoughts, feelings, and the body. Data analysis results indicated a significant decrease in stress scores following the intervention, as well as an improvement in performance scores. A Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest (p < 0.05), demonstrating that mindfulness is effective in reducing stress. Thus, mindfulness has proven to be an effective stress management strategy that can enhance performance, particularly for women facing dual roles. The study recommends implementing mindfulness as part of employee wellbeing programs, especially in work environments with high psychological demands.

Abstract

Purpose of the Study: This study explores the pivotal role of intrinsic motivation in driving the professional development of early childhood education (ECE) and kindergarten teachers, focusing on how it influences their teaching practices, adaptability, and overall job satisfaction. Methodology: A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving purposively selected ECE and kindergarten teachers from multiple schools. Participants had at least five years of teaching experience and demonstrated active engagement in professional skill development. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews and participatory observations and then analyzed using thematic analysis to uncover recurring patterns and insights. Main Findings: The study reveals that intrinsic motivation significantly shapes the professional growth of ECE teachers. Motivated teachers are likelier to adopt innovative teaching methods, integrate new technologies into their classrooms, and demonstrate resilience in managing challenges. They display a heightened sense of responsibility for their students’ holistic development and report greater job satisfaction. Moreover, intrinsic motivation fosters creativity and adaptability, enabling teachers to craft engaging learning experiences. This, in turn, positively impacts student outcomes, as intrinsically motivated teachers create dynamic, supportive environments that enhance student engagement and facilitate social-emotional growth. Novelty/Originality of the Study: Underexplored connection between intrinsic motivation and professional development in early childhood education. The study underscores the need for fostering intrinsic motivation in teacher training programs by linking teacher motivation to innovation, resilience, and student engagement. Furthermore, it provides actionable insights into designing interventions and policies prioritizing intrinsic drivers, contributing to sustainable teacher development and improved educational quality.
